The Home Depot

In general I hate coming here. You can never find anyone to help you in the section you’re in but you always see people walking around on their phones doing nothing. On today’s episode of «I hate Yonkers Home Depot» you have two business owners trying to buy carpet but can’t find anyone to help them. They go to the desk and the woman says she’s sending help but 20 minutes later there is still no one there. After turning to walk out they ask one last time for help and finally find a manager who knows nothing about carpet and can’t even find the color… Nice! Did I mention the same people had to argue with the little girl with the twists in the paint department because she tried to slip them the more expensive gallon and then rolled her eyes when they asked her to do it over? And when she hands them the paint and the customer says thank you all they got was an «mmhmm». Hood… Just hood.

Wow – you know how sometimes you read a bunch of bad reviews about a place and you think – come on, it can’t be that bad. Well in this case, it is! Yuck. Where to begin? The staff, the condition of the store and the merchandise. I can’t believe that there is a regional manager making regular visits here – or maybe they are having a hard time keeping good people at this location. I bought two rubbermaid garbage cans and I literally had to bring them home and hose them off because they were so dirty – how does that even happen? Anyway, avoid this place if you can – and if you can’t, you have my sympathy and support. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me to learn that a support group exists to help people who, for one reason or another, are forced to shop at this Home Depot.

No surprise that this place has poor reviews. A worker just brought his customer in front of us at the cutting station, but told us to relax. Parking is a nightmare– can never find any help. Will definitely go to lowes when it opens

By necessity we’ve had to use this Home Depot a few times because we had no other alternative. No one is ever available to help. Since going there is such a dreadful experience we are now in the habit of calling first to make sure an item we need is available. But get this! No one EVER picks up the phone. I’ve often called and the phone will ring twenty or more times and no one answers. And then the line goes dead. If you have other options avoid this store.

As a general matter we avoid this HD, but last night we needed a couple of things and didn’t feel like driving to another town (or state!), and were (unlike past experiences) pleasantly surprised that we did receive service. Perhaps it was the hour (7:30 PM) or the weather (freezing cold), but two employees correctly directed us to specific items and a third managed to help with a coupon at check-​out. As it happens accessing HD’s website hadn’t told us they had a version of the item we wanted, and for some reason furniture dollies are stored OUTSIDE in the (freezing cold in January!) garden section (really? really?!), but for those who haven’t been this is the store by the Thruway down the hill from Stew Leonard’s and under the wholesale store, so at least the parking lot was covered (and thus warmer than the deserted garden center!).

It was the worst experience I have had in a long time. One worker was helpful, but others were impatient, condescening, and generally reluctantly helpful. I will avoid in the future unless I know exactly what I need.

ZERO STARS IF POSSIBLE! Yonkers location is the worst!
Each time my husband and I are in there it seems to get worse. (My husband is there more than I) But I have witnessed in one short visit there this past weekend 0 customer service or professionalism.
For example:
1. While walking into an isle we received the biggest attitude from a sales associate, which started by her sucking her teeth as we tried to pass her with our large cart FULL of material, and then with an «Exxxcuse you» with a head and eye roll as my husband went to pass back (without the cart this time) We clearly were interrupting her conversation that was taking place in the middle of an already crowded isle.
2. We then asked a sales associate in isle 31 where to find the zip ties. (My husband knows they are in this department and isle we just couldn’t find them — They were being blocked by 2 other sales associates chit chatting). He sent us to isle 8. finally found and asked another sales associate and was told it was in Isle 31, from where we had just come. He sent us across the store for what reason???
3.The lady at the register was no better. I actually had enough at that point and let her know that she was being rude for no reason.
The attitude you get from the sales associates in the isles and at the registers is the most disgusting behavior I have every seen. It really is as if you are bothering them. THIS IS YOUR JOB!
Its actually worth the drive at this point to go to the new Rochelle location from now on.

TERRIBLE Frustrating, incompetent employees, no service, huge waste of time trying to get someone to help you and then they don’t even know about anything!
The so called ‘manager ’ is just as bad!
I went to this store ready to spend thousands of dollars on wood flooring and carpet. I stormed out of there after waiting 45 minutes for help and trying to find the manager
All the employees were either on break, lunch or just walking around aimlessly.
The manager Scott was no where to be found.
I wasted all that time and finally left promising to never return again
The other customers around me all agreed what a awful store this was and we’re just as frustrated.
Home Depot desperately needs to read these complaints and do something about them because it just gives people a good reason to shop anyplace else!

Let me start by saying that our country is now service oriented, and when you fail to provide adequate customer service, you’ve failed on all levels. I didn’t really want to write this review but after the way I was treated at this location by Yassin & Manny the ASM’s and Miguel the brain dead customer service rep, I have no choice but to. I went in for a simple under the counter light fixture for my apartment, upon reaching the aisle/​bay that the fixtures are in, everything was a mess and in disarray. I couldn’t find the particular item I was looking for which cost 36.97, so I found something comparable which was a little more expensive 52.97. (The reason I couldn’t find the item, it was on clearance and they left the old price label where the display fixture are, I found that out after I went to customer service). I called over an associate to ask if I could get this price adjusted, because they didn’t have the one I wanted. He said no we can’t do that. I was quiet surprised by that, because this is something that all other H. D that I’ve gone to has done, If an item is not in stock, they upgrade you to the next best item, but apparently this store operates on their own set of rules. Now I’m at customer service, I explained to the girl what I needed she said no she can’t do that, she called Yassin the ASM he said no he is not adjusting the price and walked away, (he walked away people) which was highly disrespectful, this is the guy that should be setting the example for all associates to follow, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Anyway I told the customer service girl to ring me up for the item and I’ll deal with it tomorrow, because it was too late to call their customer service. I called customer service the following day and they agreed to adjust the price. My point is, it’s not about the price of the item, it’s all about the service and keeping your customers happy. To the management: This store needs to be fixed, customers are telling you what shitty service they’ve been getting read these dam blogs, I can guarantee you probably don’t use these apps as a want to gauge your customers shopping experience. Wake up and smell the coffee.

I’ve been here for 2.5 hours on a Friday night waiting for paint, after waiting 45 minutes to even get my order taken (there was only 4 people on line) Employees move at a snail like pace and are rude, especially Stephen. I had to ask him 4 times for what kind of paint to get to cover up the color of my room, some random employee was on their way out and I stopped and asked them and they answered my question right away. Some guy asked him what paint brush to get and when he came back with the paint brush to be sure Stephen replied «what part of that didn’t you get?» Waste of time, going to have to come here when staff that’s actually competent are working.

This Home Depot has the worst customer service. Help is very incompetent and not willing to help. Very lazy and slow. They could care less about the customers.

I should have known better. This store has a bad reputation for a reason. Several contractors have told me not to go to this store. This was my second nightmare so shame on me.
I ordered a toilet and only the tank arrived. My plumber was there when we opened it. I called and was told to bring the tank to the store and I would get a full refund. I asked repeatedly if the customer service rep had experience with this. I went to the store. Initially they did not want to take the tank without the bowl. Then they were charging me shipping on an item I never received and tax on that. They would not budge. I had them reverse the charges and took the tank home and shipped it from, there. Unfortunately I had already ordered a second toilet and when I tried to cancel it the toilet had already been shipped. I never took the bowl out of the box because I could hear it was shattered. Pieces were coming out of the shipping box. Again, my plumber was there. UPS would only pick up one box so another call was made to HD. Eventually the tank was picked up. All this delayed my refund. NEVER AGAIN. I ordered a 3^rd toilet from Lowes and picked it up at the store. HD has the worst customer service at this store. They never answer the phone. When I ordered a door from them it was a nightmare. What was I thinking in doing business with them again.

The Home Depot is not known for their service. If you find yourself in an aisle and need help… good luck finding an employee. That said, on my last visit, my cashier Nekeisha, could not have been nicer or more helpfull.

I went on the website to purchase a few things I needed, and selected «in store pickup» the website told me there were 3 of the item in stock in this store. I paid online and waited for confirmation to pick up. More than 2 hours later I received a phone call from the store saying (unintelligibly) that my item was actually not in stock. Really poor communication between the store and website inventory, which isn’t a great sign…

Worst of the worse. The staff is simply useless. They have no knowledge in their products. There are more sightings of big foot than of staff. I found the funniest was when I checked out at the register, purchasing a curtain rod, i was 5 feet from the security guard. he was talking with my cashier and as I left he inspected my receipt said I robbed the store. After he finished looking at it, he gave it back and said nothing. God help Home Depot. GO TO LOWES. much better store better customer service.

Better than average Home Depot.
Friendly staff, fine parking, able to take the saw mill and avoid the toll, nice space and layout — it is run of the mill and corporate but I have had far worse experiences at other Home Depots. I would go back over heading to an NYC Home Depot…

Back in the day this home depot was my favorite, I t is located close to where I grew up, in Yonkers and was convenient because it was e 24 hours. Service has gone down the tube the last time I was in there I couldn’t even find an employee to help me with a screwdriver I was searching for. :(
maybe i should try Lowe’s next because HomeDepot needs to get its act together.

Worst Home Depot in the world I’m sure… lost items I’ve ordered to the store, no one feels need to assist you and employees generally have no sense of urgency in anything they seem to do.
Unfortunately I’m here at least three times a week, but if I need to make a complicated order with some advice or pick up I will make the drive over the TZ to Nyack store, it’s like two different worlds.

This is the only Home Depot in my city. I’ve been going there to purchase all the necessary supplies since I was very young.
I’ve never had a problem with them, until recently. We ordered a garage door, including installation, through them. They outsourced the job, so it involved me keeping in contact with another company. This other company missed the two appointments to measure our garage door size, and when they finally came, they measured the WRONG DOOR, so we were charged for the WRONG SIZE. It was very hard to keep in contact with this other company, and when I tried to go through Home Depot, they did not want to take responsibility; the response I got was «I’m sorry for the inconvenience, but you must get in contact with the company, we are not responsible.»
After 8 long months of trying to communicate with different people, we finally got our garage door installed. Really? 8 MONTHS for ONE GARAGE DOOR?! How could you? 8 months to get the door installed, but another 6 months to get my money back — the money that they incorrectly charged me. seriously though? It took them only two hours to charge my card, but a total of 14 months to install and garage door and return my money.
Sigh, please, Home Depot, save this store! I really need it in my town.

Prior to closing my first Unilocal account I use to update my review of this place all the time with their latest hijinks. And inevitably, someone named «Tiffany’ or ‘Jane’ from Home Depot’s damage control department would send me a «Sorry our store sucks ass so much» message, telling me they would pass along my complaint to a manager. I got news for ya… the manager? He’s dead, Jim. Or he never existed, but for real, no message ever got forwarded to anyone that gives a rat’s ass. FACT
Time to resurrect my process.
This place ranks up in the top 5 worst businesses I have ever visited. But don’t just listen to me, read the other reviews.
One time, while in the parking lot on the way in to the store, I saw a store employee returning carts to the corral and he whipped a wad of paper out of the cart and chucked it onto the ground and kept going on his way. I wasn’t even in the store yet and this is what I see!!! Employees littering! Sweet! I can’t wait to get in!
For now I am going to write about my most recent adventure. And as the mood strikes I will regale you, the gentle reader, with more tales from the crypt.
Went there recently for a specific item their website says they have in stock. LOL, right? So first guy I see, I ask nicely, «Where can I find x?» He said something along the lines of «Me not know. You go that way» and he pointed in a general direction.
So far so good!
Then I see a female employee and I ask her. Got the same, «Me not know» type of answer, while she was walking away (she must be very busy!). Then she saw another female employee and she shouted out of the back of her head at this other woman, and the other woman, without missing a beat, also managed to talk out of the back of her head while walking away from us and pointed us in a general direction. Before I could ask her to clarify, she was gone! She must be very very busy!

Well, I found my way to what I was looking for and found items their website said they DID NOT have and didn’t find the item their website DID say they had. Excellent! Time for another lol?

I would have asked someone for help, but I remembered their Rule Number One.
