HORRIBLE!!! Last 2 times we have been here, the speed of play has been ridiculous. When I called the pro shop to have them send out a ranger because we had to wait every hole for a twosome in front of us because the guy was giving the girl lessons on a Saturday morning, they sent out the ranger who told the couple in front of us we complained, they denied giving lessons and instead of letting us play through the ranger told us we need to be more patient. This time we called for a 12:30 tee time told us sure we get here tee off 5 minutes early just to wait at every hole because they didn’t tell us there was a group of 14 woman they tee’d off 20 minutes before we did. So it took us an average of 15 — 20 minutes to play a hole. The course is in decent shape for a public course and the price is also good… But if they had rangers that actually kept people moving and personal that were polite and friendly it would be a nice place to golf. But I will NOT be giving it another chance because the last 3 times the rate of play was to slow and personal were rude and didn’t care.

This place is terrible. The staff is so extremely rude and the course is disgusting. If I could give it 0 stars I would.

The staff is rude as hell and the course is terrible to play on. One particular staff member lied about pricing to put money in his own pocket. Will never come here again.

The golf course was great. It was fun and challenging and the staff was great. The one thing that surprised me was the food in the Greenside Tavern(the club house). It’s not any old burgers and fries place. They had a full menu with many great options. So good in fact that many people just go there for dinner on Fridays.

What a horrible excuse a golf course. I had been here once before, over 6 years ago. How times have changed! We had a tee time for 9 holes at 10am on Saturday Morning. When we arrived at 9:35, the guy in the pro shop told us he could get us on early… we were excited! Upon pulling up to the ranger, he directed us to start at hole 11, and drove us through the back way to get there… we agreed to it, and he told he that we would play a hole on the front 9 to get our full 9 holes in. Strange, but OK. Within 8 minutes of being on hole 11, we were on the green and preparing to put… there were people that were behind us now, waiting to tee off. They had asked if we were OK with them playing thru and going ahead of us. We were fine with this. Out of nowhere, as I’m swinging my putter… the ranger comes to a screeching halt at the green and begins talking(while we’re putting). He is telling us that the guys behind us can’t play through, it’s not allowed on their course… Oh, and that we were to go to hole 14 next. WHAT? I wasn’t having this. He told us that we were almost too close to our 15 minute per hole(we were under by at least a couple of minutes, and could have been done by now, had he not interrupted our putting). He explained they had an outing coming through, and needed us to move holes. How is this my problem? Why did they sell us the 10am tee time, if they couldn’t deliver? Why did they put us on early, if we were going to be shoved around? What a horrible customer experience to have to play some piece meal of a golf course. We immediately went back to the club house and the guy that sent us out early acted as if he had no idea what was going on(maybe he didn’t, but I am having a hard time assuming this, as he was having us start at hole 11 and early). He asked me «what’s wrong?» I explained the situation, and he said«I don’t know who would have told you that you needed to move to hole 14, and I understand this isn’t a good experience.» What do you know… in comes the ranger that told us to move to hole 14, and he had nothing to say for himself when the guy in the club house was apologizing up and down… I promised the guy in the club house that I would voice my experience as it was going to be «great» for their business… so here it is! We received a full refund, plus $ 40/per person in vouchers to come back… but definitely won’t need those. I’ll pay $ 5 more to play on my home course of Pheasant Run ANY day to avoid such HORRIBLE customer service and experience. What a disaster. Do not waste your time or money on this place!

I’ve been golfing Hickory Creek since they first opened(initially the front nine only). We’ve held numerous outings here(church, work, other). John(owner) and Chef Mike always do a great job for us. The Friday fish fry’s are great too. Good food. Good people. As for the golf, I love this course. Why? Character. The front nine plays different from the back nine. The front is more wooded. The back plays a little longer with water in play. The greens roll good and true. But I really like the course because, if you are on your game, you can score here. There are numerous shorter holes that accommodate scoring(1, 3, 5, 8, 9, 10&15) with a well placed, well struck drive. #3 gives a real«up north» feel as you stare down the fairway from the tee. #4 echos that feel. There is a risk reward on #5 if you try to cut the treeline angle, similar situation on #7. #8 and #9 are eagle holes if your drive is golden. #12 is tight and usually plays into the wind. No sense gambling here, play for par or no worse than bogey. #13 forces you to leave the driver in the bag. #14 let’s you air it out and still leaves a good length approach. #15 is a hoot for the cut shot(from the back tees) or just cutting the corner(from the white tees). #17 is the signature hole, a peninsula par three from a slightly elevated tee. #18 is a good closing hole where pars and birdies fly and the occasional eagle is available. Plays slow on occasion and I wish there were more(or better) deals but it is not outrageous and you can get some pretty fair prices from their e-club. Keeps me coming back year after year for about two decades now.
