We signed up for the Happy Hour cruise for a Monday afternoon, but they didn’t have enough people to take the boat out. Was comped an upgrade for the Sunset cruise. Would have paid for the Sunset cruise all on it’s own based on my experience.
Unlimited beer and wine (domestics) which was available at the bar or served to you by their friendly staff.
Boat is incredible! We got to sit upfront while we cruised to Emerald Bay and easily moved around the boat during other parts of the cruise. I felt like a millionaire up there with my wife and a glass of champagne in hand. The appetizers were nice, but as they say, please don’t try to make a meal out of it.
The Sunset cruise is not big on the narration/​history, if you want that, go on the daytime BBQ cruise. The beach that the boat launches from is also a great time, if you want to make a day out of it.
Would totally recommend this to anyone visiting Tahoe. Great value and experience on the water. Best way to see Tahoe.

Awesome. August 17 and PERFECT weather for this experience. Safari Rose is a vintage yacht. The food and hospitality of the proprietor could not have been better. We celebrated a family birthday with 7 of us on the top deck, sipping Bloody Marys and taking in the incredible views from the middle of the lake. Have driven past and down to Vikings Home at the shoreline of Emerald Bay many times. But cruising into the bay, around the island Tea House to get a view of the estate from the water– it was just breathtakingly beautiful. Cannot say enough about the lunch — absolutely first rate. This was the highlight of our week here. Do it

What a great way to see and learn about Lake Tahoe! The boat is beautiful and the lunch was very good. The commentary provided by the captain was excellent and the service by the crew was exceptional. The views of Lake Tahoe from the Safari Rose are superior — from the surrounding mountains to the most beautiful blue water I have ever seen. The stop in Emerald Bay for lunch was remarkable. This is a tour that should not be missed!

We had planned on sailing on the Woodwind II for our 4th wedding anniversary as we had in the past and really enjoyed it. We were informed that it had been retired and it was suggested we take the sunset cruise on the Safari Rose. Wow!!! What a wonderful experience! We were picked up and returned at our hotel (included in the cost). First off, the Safari Rose is amazing and beautiful! The crew were very friendly and welcoming… The food was far more gourmet than expected. The wine included was good wine. The captain bought us a Mai Tai as an anniversary gift which was very nice. The sunset cruise was beautiful!!! We could not have asked for more. Just perfect!

Tour began on time. Location easy to find, if driving. Sufficient beverages and appetizers for everyone. You may have seconds or thirds of hors d’oeuvres. Boat has lots of seating area. Positive and good experience.

Enjoyed the Sunset Cocktail Cruise this weekend on the Safari Rose. We had a blast! Two of my friends were raised in South Lake Tahoe, but really enjoyed listening to the history of Emerald Bay and the Safari Rose. The crew, especially Stacie, was wonderful. We look forward to doing the lunch cruise when we come back up on September.

Visited the Safari Rose for the champagne sunset cruise with a group of 7 friends. We were in Reno for the National Bowling tournament June 15, 2015.
The cruise left a bit late because they were waiting for some folks that had trouble finding the place. (Go to the beach).
The beer, wine and champagne were included. As were Hors d’oeuvres. Cocktails were available for purchase. The boat and crew were very nice. There was seating available in inside and out and they offered blankets if we got chilly. For us it wasn’t necessary the weather was perfect and the ride to Emerald Bay beautiful. Highly recommend this trip especially for those with limited time at Lake Tahoe.

We spent a week in Tahoe at the beginning of June. This was one of the many enjoyable things we did. Our cruise was on June 12th and there were about 14 people on board, so it was a small group. The staff was informative and friendly. The boat was fantastic! We took a route across the lake into Emerald Bay. Gorgeous! Met and visited with a very nice couple for most of the cruse. It didn’t feel like a commercial event, rather just a more intimate look at the lake. The meal was good and the ride back to dock was so enjoyable. Definitely would do it again!

This was my fourth Safari Rose cruise, so you could say I truly enjoy the yacht, crew, and lake; however, the current route was not my favorite. What use to be four hours is now three, and the sailing to the West Shore was eliminated, which was disappointing. There is so much history of the lake that was lost. I know that the cost of the cruise was discounted, but I miss that extra experience.

My husband and I spent our anniversary in Tahoe this past weekend and booked the bbq cruise on a whim. It was such an amazing experience and we were both surprised at how much we enjoyed it! I had never cruised across the lake and was amazed at the beauty of the deep blue water. Gorgeous! The crew was very personable and informative, and the food and drinks were delicious. It was a relaxing cruise with a small group of people, so you don’t feel crowded. I would do again in a heart beat. Highly recommended!

On June 5th, eight of us took the Safari Rose cruise around South Lake Tahoe. Best I’ve ever experienced ! Needless to say, the sights were awesome, but the quality of the ship and crew rate a 10+++. Very few of on the boat that day, about 16 of us, made it seem like having our own personal boat and crew. The crew was very skilled and professional, very personable guys, who gave us the best of service and attention. They were all knowledgable about the boat, the lake and the history of Lake Tahoe. The food was gourmet quality and the portions were large. I kinda felt like a «rich and famous» guy on my own personal boat. The boat is awesome, comfortably decorated for the most relaxing cruise ever. I would take this cruise again in a «New York minute.» Actually, for all you get, I’m surprised it wasn’t priced much higher.
Can’t remember the names of the crew members, but I would recommend them highly. It was the crew of Friday, June 5th, 2015 @10am.

I’m probably writing this with a small advantage, but it is what it is. We were married in September 1994, 20 years this year, and we typically vacation around that time as weather is still nice, if not nicer, kids are back in school and the off-​season rates have kicked in. As part of our visit over our anniversary week, on 9÷19÷14, this was one of the activities we chose.
Remember when I mentioned traveling in September? Great weather, less people and happier, less-​stressed hosts/​employees. That we the case with our cruise. There were only 18 people booked, and they will sail with a minimum of 8. Being well under capacity, we had plenty of room and our choice of where to hang on the boat. She’s beautiful, all wood and nicely maintained. Our crew, Cpt. Ian, hand David and host Deb were all very friendly and knowledgeable about the local history. Nice lunch of beef or chicken kabobs, rice pilaf, ceasar salad and desert. Deb kept the bar going like a bar on a day cruise should be ;)
Highly recommend this cruise. Remember what I said about traveling in September? Had this been a packed, summertime cruise, I could see how it may have been different, real quick. Great fun.

Great cruise across to the west side, them a great meal served as we cruised south along the West Bank viewing the sights. Emerald Bay was grand, especially seeing the island up close, so close you could touch it. Contrary to another reviewer, our crew was top rate.
