Great little spot. The other reviews are spot on in that it seems like a place to come before(or after) you go somewhere else. We actually had something to eat with the cheese, olives and salami being very nice. The wine was good too. Only comment was it got a bit loud. But definitely a hip place to be.

Best Charlie Chaplins around! Fabulous ambience but get in early on a Friday or Saturday because this is a popular little haunt.

I love the décor and my drink was great — I went out there with a friend of mine. It was totally cramped. Like a lot of small bars in Adelaide it seems to have a capacity of –10. I know this must sound harsh to some but it’s a venue where it seems rare to sit down with your drink and relax. For that I give it a 2. Plenty of other venues that have a better atmosphere in the city.

Update: My initial review of this place still stands but I’m taking a star off for grumpy service from Mr A — not once but twice now in recent weeks, I hope he doesn’t plan to make a habit of it. Not good enough! But the other staff, especially the ladies have been great.

Magnificent Old Fashioneds, great bar staff, and what a great whisky selection. Frankly, my first and last drink in Adelaide.

This seems to be a spot where people buy one fancy cocktail/wine before heading out the door onto their next/final destination. For that purpose, it is probably great. Otherwise, the cocktails are a bit pricey. Inventive, but a tad on the pricier side. I would maybe try another option on the same street(i.e., Peel St) before coming back. Maybe it’s the best option in the area, maybe not!

I must say that Peel Street has changed substantially since I last walked down there. I remember when the only shops on this back alley was a map shop and a comic book shop, but now it is crammed full of little coffee shops and hole in the wall bars. Clever Little Taylor is one of those little bars that seem to have now made Peel Street home, and I have to say that it has certainly changed the character of the place. As a bar it was okay, however being a Melbournite I guess my opinion is a little tainted by many similar bars over the border. Still it was quite nice, though I do have to admit that it does get quite crowded after work.

Small, hip-ish bar with decent drinks on a cute street in the Adelaide CBD, with lots of other bars and restaurants. Partner and I had a bit of time to kill before dinner at nearby Peel St(highly recommended, btw) and decided to stop in. Even though it was a weeknight, the bar was pretty full in terms of seating options, but since we were in a bit of a rush anyhow, standing by the bar was totally fine with us. The design of the space itself was lovely, and I loved the intimate nature of it all. The drink menu was well done, although a bit overpriced for what we got. To be clear, I’m certainly not one to skimp if it means getting a delicious drink, but I really expected more for a place that appeared to pride itself on its selection. In addition, as opposed to our general experience during our time in Adelaide, Clever Little Tailor’s staff seemed a bit full of themselves. Their cooler-than-thou attitude was a definite turn-off and really soured my experience.

A trendy little place in a burgeoning area in the Adelaide CBD, this SMALL bar has a great atmosphere and a hip little vibe. The décor is industrial warehouse, the music is cool, and the staff are knowledgeable. There’s a good selection of wines and craft beers available but it’s all on the pricey side. But, that’s part of the deal when you go into a cool little place like this.

Clever Little Tailor is brilliant. It’s cozy in size and is often packed to the rafters on the weekend, so make sure you’re early if you want to sit. It’s brimming with charisma and offers a range of drinks that is bound to please even the pickiest drinkers. I recommend trying something suggested by the knowledgeable staff. They will fix you up a drink that you probably never knew existed and be interested in your feedback. The only disappointment with CLT is the lack of outdoor seating. Hopefully that’s something that will change if/when Peel street is closed off to traffic and there’s more room for alfresco dining. If you’re on Peel street, CLT is a must.

Adelaide is lucky to have Clever Little Tailor on our radar as this place gets it so right! Ideal for a relaxed drink after work in the city. You can choose to sit by the bar or for a bigger group you can journey upstairs to settle in the cosy booths upstairs. My last visit was a casual drink at the bar with an old friend where we reminisce over our Uni days over a few glasses of wine. When we asked for their recommendation of a good sauvignon blanc, the helpful bar staff said they had just had a blind tasting and still have a bottle of tasmanian savvy not on the menu yet but was highly recommended. It was a amazing drop — the guys here sure know their stuff! Next time you want pre-dinner, knock off drinks after work or just want to impress someone with a cool place to chill — then Clever Little Tailor should be guarantee to tick all the right boxes!

A really cute little bar with a great vibe! It was warm and cozy and perfect for after work drinks. It has a great range of wines, beers and spirits and the bar staff are super knowledgable on all their products. They’re very good at giving cheeky hints on what drinks are the best to have! A great evening out in Adelaide!

Tucked away down Peel Street is Clever Little Tailor, a very hipsterish bar that is well worth visiting for a tipple or three. Excellent ambience, great music that isn’t too loud, amazingly friendly bar staff and a very well done refit of an old building, this place is perfect for a couple of drinks after work or before heading out for the rest of the night. They have a nice balcony along the back of the bar that overlooks the main bar itself, where we sat and enjoyed the view while trialling various cocktails which were made by our bartender based on our very rough sketches of what we wanted to try. Highly recommend letting them work their magic for you! The only problem they have is that there is often a bit of a line to get in, which may dissuade newcomers from trying the place. Don’t despair, as mentioned above, it’s very much a ‘pop in for a few drinks’ kind of place, and the line moves quickly. It’s worth the wait!

I only had to walk in the door and I knew I loved this place. Greeted with a big friendly smile and an «hello! How are you?» from a bartender, a gorgeous fit out, a buzzy but respectable looking crowd, cool music and the sight of an impressive gin collection and I automatically felt my shoulders relax. It’s a tiny space, but I love the way CLT is divided in to neat little sections, each feeling unique an intimate. The wine list is terrific and the gin collection has a great selection of local and international boutique bottles for those who are fiends for the Juniper. The staff were just delightful. We only stopped in for 45 minutes for a drink and a bowl of olives, but they were so kind and made a point of saying goodbye as we left. Next time I’m ordering a bottle and a charcuterie plate and spending a couple of hours on one of the higher booth tables people watching.

Tiny little hipster haven, after work drinks emporium, and passionate bartenders pouring strong libations. Adelaide is getting cooler by the week and this Clever little joint is not to be missed. You get the feeling the friendly staff would happily discuss cocktails and their favoured spirits for hours on end and I fully intend to test my theory at some point. Only a few beers on tap(three to be exact) but I quite love this as the trio were all of top quality and what’s the point going to a pub that has 40 beers when 37 of them are either rubbish or just the same old stuff. All-in-all a fun experience.

I wasn’t going to queue here initially. Yawn. But I was with people from Melbourne and they don’t mind a little queue(there were at least 10 people waiting) the doorman(bouncer seems harsh he was lovely) kindly let us know it would be a 5 – 10 minute wait at the most. So we waited our turn then squished our way to the front. This place was packed, but the service was still efficient and friendly. I ordered a cocktail. What did I want. something fruity but not too sweet. They delivered. The waitress hand squeezed each fruit carefully and gave me my own personal cocktail. It was you could say a cleverly tailored drink… They tried to keep my card for further drinks. But at their delicious prices for their delicious drinks I couldn’t have that, too tempting. Clever little marketing idea though, lovely and convenient to continue having drinks without counting your pennies. However the amount of men in suits that looked like they don’t have to drip feed their phone bills in $ 10 increments like myself should have tipped me off that I was in a classy establishment. Also on that note I am not being sexist men in suits is an accurate description. There are a LOT of men here. I am not in the market. But if you were looking for a man who has the cash to splash for a lovely drink for yourself I’d hang out here. We found a table up the top and the staff were attentive to our drinking needs. Overall you get what you pay for. and here you pay for luxury.

This place seems pretty gosh darn popular and I for one am on board! The line-ups for afternoon drinks are spoken of far and wide but clearly people are lining up for a reason — inside there are some fantastic drops of wine and a great atmosphere! Everyone here is RAVING about the staff being the true highlight but unfortunately I had a slightly annoying experience here — after ordering a $ 10 glass of wine I was told that I couldn’t pay on card as they don’t let patrons pay for just one glass and that I could though start a tab. Now all I wanted was one drink and I have learned that it is no good to carry cash — I simply spend it too fast! The bar tender did eventually let me pay after I explained and asked where the nearest ATM was but it was a little bit annoying… Soooo if you’re dropping by for just one drink, maybe bring cash?

I can’t go down from 5 stars for this place. Great beer and wine selection. This isn’t the largest space, but its been used brilliantly. Amazingly appointed too. The lighting is perfect. Music level just right. Stools and tables pulled cozily in. Tailors setting encourages conversation and intimacy, not screaming 5 cm from someone’s ear and frustration. Staff are super attentive and the bar space was fairly clear. It was early on a Saturday night though. I had an IPA on tap and a red; a Pinot both great picks. Unfortunately I didn’t get to try anymore, as it was a venue-hopping type of night. We didn’t sample the food so I can’t comment re. that sadly. If you’ve been and enjoyed Clever Little Tailor try Cantina Sociale, or Udaberri. All great examples of places in the CBD that are giving us old dogs a reason to stay out on a Friday or Saturday night.

When you are made to feel like you are the only person in the bar worth serving(despite how chaotic everything is around you) you know you are in for a good night. We stood up at the bar and enjoyed the buzz of the place(not with doof doof music or loud obnoxious patrons) but with chatter and people weaving together a night of fun for themselves. You can also sit at a booth upstairs and watch over the crowd, perch in one of the windows at the front or sit on stools at small benches. If you are someone who hates making decisions, this tiny hole in the wall, 65 person bar has already made half of them for you. Their simple menu includes 3 beers on tap and a selection of craft brews by the bottle, 3 whites and 3 reds by the glass, a selection of wines by the bottle and then any cocktail you request can be made. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable about all of the drinks on offer and make a point of telling you about what you are drinking, what it tastes like, or giving you recommendations. There are also only 4 food items on the menu — Coriole Olives, Pickels and 2 charcuterie boards made from The Charcuterie(a spin off from Lucia’s Deli in the Central Market). We had the duck pâté which doesn’t sound or look that appetising but is actually not a paste but more of a shredded duck in pork belly fat goodness. The proscuitto platter again only came with bread and pickles but it didn’t need anything else because of the quality of meat — it was a young cut of meat so not too typically proscuitto salty, very thinly sliced but still not bland. Now I have to warn all those typical Adelaidians our there who«refuse to line up.» At 7pm on a Friday the line up was about 8 persons deep but we were inside within 20 minutes. Because this isn’t a bar for spending hours and hours at people move in and out pretty quickly. So suck it up princess because CLT is worth the wait.
