I write this review as I am sipping a delicious rooibos green tea, which I highly recommend. Rooibos is my favourite tea, so to have so many rooibos blends on offer made me feel like I had died and gone to heaven. The staff were very friendly and helpful also in helping me decide which one of the million teas would suit me best. This is now also my ‘go-to’ venue for gifts, people are always delighted with the amazing and interesting blends.

As someone who obsesses over tea and would rather shot five short blacks over a pot of Earl Grey, Teasel is a strangely intimidating venture into the land of tea. With huge cannisters of tea sitting behind the counter, the helpful staff will let you smell the rainbow of flavours and recommend leaves to suit. You can buy by the cup or have a pot to share to delicately sip through in your own time. I’m a fan of the decaf Rooibus tea, particularly with the sweet fruity flavours but am partial to some white tea when the occasion calls for it. The one let down with Teasel is the lack of anything but tea, with a great seating space, Teasel invites you to sit down and relax but with no food on offer(except at certain times) a long stay with multiple cups of tea doesn’t occur. If there was a cake on display, this place would be for me. For the tea variety and quality, this place is a star.

So… what is Teasel? It’s a prickly plant with pom-pom purple flowers, the root of which is used to treat Lyme disease – if you’re wandering around in the garden. But, if you are at Rundle Mall and are tired of the noise, heat and pedestrians who can’t seem to keep from walking into you and you just need a gentle reminder that life is good, then Teasel is YOUR destination. More than a tea shop, it can fix whatever ails you. Just tell the tea barista(I’m borrowing from the coffee culture here) how you feel and then how you WANT to feel when you leave. They’ll help you pick a concoction from the zillion teas on offer. iPads are set out for your use and there is wifi too. To really get a feel for this place in advance, checkout their web site at :
They even have their own app for IOS devices – how cool is that! You can even pay with the app. Tame your coffee habit with an awesome tea. I haven’t had great fruit teas like they offer since I lived in Germany. Highly recommended! Eat, drink and be merry – but not too much! JD

Someone needs to shout me a tea tasting. I’ve been here twice, tried two different teas(chai, and a mix of Stressless and Bahamas), but I can’t help but feel a bit meh about it. I’m sure for a tea lover this place is fantastic, but I haven’t found my Holy Grail of tea flavour yet. They have a HUGE range of flavours, and the outfit is very cool. They should do well. $ 4.50 for a hot tea, $ 4.80 for an iced tea. The serving size is a large.

This place is a fair cry from Tijuana, Mexico and it certainly isn’t delving out rounds of tequila on Thursday nights. Instead Teawana has an aura of «zen» with their thick wooden benches and… bench top iPads… Well almost zen… I get a tad hypnotised as I go to the counter to order 1 tea from the 140 on offer. I did not know tea came in fruit based, rooibus, chai, oolong, herbal, green, black and white forms, nor do I ever really know what kind of tea I want when I go here. Normally my choice at home is between a 50 shades of «Earl Grey» or English Breakfast. But never fear, the super tea brew crew will help you identify just what you feel like on the day. Each tea is boiled to a particular temperature and comes with sugar or honey. While waiting you can also play«spot the tea quotes» ingrained on the wall in the wooden sanctuary that is Teawana. Rumour has it they will also be serving up food soon too. Great reason to stop during a lunch break and ommm amongst the other tea totaling folk in their bar.
