Cafe Bodrum

We came here a few times in the past and the food & service were great; this time however the food had lost its standard and to the point where the food could not be stomached, and smelt old and had an old funny colour. We told the manager nicely and she became quite defensive saying that there was nothing wrong with the dish and it was us.
She then told us she told the chef and that the chef was extremely angry with our feedback. (That was the first time I had a chef complain about his customers)
Overall a bad experience and unfortunately won’t go there again.

Their chips are the best I’ve had in Sydney. Crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside! Their meals are great. I love their kofte plate! The only downside is they take a while to make everything but it is well worth it.

It wasn’t quite as rich as what mum makes but this is a great place to spend the afternoon sipping on cay in little cups!
That is if you don’t mind forking out $ 2.50 for a small cup of tea. Being that I know how easy it is to make, I was a bit floored at the price.
Same goes with the lahmacun. It was light on the meaty goodness that should have been layered on a bit thicker. The taste was a bit bland and to be honest, maybe mum has spoilt me, but I was expecting a richer taste.
However what these guys do well is the shish kebabs. The lamb & chicken were mouth watering. The lamb cutlet surprised the boyfran as he realised that we don’t fry out lamb cutlets — instead they are usually baked in a flat tray with a lid on and light oils. The fat turns into crispy yumminess and the the meat stays tender yet cooked through wonderfully. NOM!
Service was good, the music wasn’t too loud and it was turkish pop as opposed to many others that tend to play the waily turkish as I love to call it. There’s a bit of seating in this corner shop, about 6 tables inside and quite a few outside.

I’ve been here a couple of times. My latest meal was lahmacun (Turkish Pizza.) It was a bit oily, and a bit more expensive than the other Turkish restaurants in the area. Overall, it was average.

Café Bodrum is actually the classiest looking restaurant around Auburn, I found on my travails.
That, and it serves some of the best food, for a pittance!
No, really. Mains for $ 8 – 9? That’s insanely cheap!
I had the Penne & Chicken Boscaiola, a fairly big portion size, and it only cost me $ 8! Fantastic. The quality was good too, I polished my plate off.
You can also get a full, large pizza for $ 16 – 18, which I think is great, AND it tastes amazing. If it’s clearly possible to make fabulous food for such low prices, I wonder why more people don’t do it!
They also have a fairly extensive breakfast menu, featuring both continental breakfasts and Turkish breakfasts, which I think is great variety. Sadly, breakfast ends at 11, so get there early.
Again, you can get a fairly filling breakfast for only $ 8! Can you tell how excited I am about $ 8 meals, here?
