We were told by a local that we needed to try«real» coffee, versus our«American brown water» and to get a cappuccino at a café near our hotel. We chose Bogey Hole and were not disappointed. We weren’t jumping out of our skin in shock from the big difference either, but we did enjoy it. Even more than the coffee, we also shared a thick slice of pear and raspberry bread and a «bacon»(ham) «Brekky» sandwich. My favorite was the sandwich, because the ham was sticky sweet, like maple — my favorite! It also looked as though Bogey Hole served booze, but 10 am was a little too early for a cocktail — even for us. Don’t quote me on that, but there were bottles behind the bar that looked familiar and my guess was that you could order a Bloody Mary or mimosa, if you felt so inclined. We were staying at a hotel right down the street, so it was the perfect little spot for a morning pick-up before the mile trek to the beach.

Rude staffs. Doesn’t even look you in the eyes when talking. Unwelcoming on a Wednesday noon. Disappointing. Ended up leaving.

I had brunch here and sat outside to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. My smoked salmon with scrambled eggs and capers on rye was excellent. The salmon was fresh and plentiful. I also got a large coffee which was served in a tall glass — I never really get why cafes serve coffee in glasses, it probably looks more chic, but I prefer the practicality of cups and mugs. Anyways, despite the glass vessel, the coffee was good! Service is passable. A good choice along the Bronte café strip.

Stopped in while walking from Bondi to Clovelly. Sensational location. Had the eggs benedict with bacon, washed down with a latte. Food and drink were excellent and beautifully presented. Would have given 5 stars but the waitress was a little cold…

Ahhh this place was so cute! I was looking for a place to get some breakfast to take away. While there are a bunch of other cafes in the area, this one had the most people, so I went in. I had the field mushroom with marinated meredith goats cheese on Iggys rye & caraway, rocket & roasted tomatoes — $ 14. This was quite a substantial meal, and I struggled to finish it… it was pretty good, though I found the goat’s cheese a bit strong for my tastes. The tomatoes were nice and juicy. My colleague had the bacon & egg roll on turkish toast with the works(lettuce, cheese, tomato & bbq sauce) and the muesli with berries and yogurt, both $ 12.50. Quick, friendly service; the guy who took my order was really helpful. He’d noticed me standing around looking confused and helped me with my order.

I’ve noticed a lot of positive reviews about this café so I’m going to assume that I just got it on a bad day. To start on a positive note, the Toby’s Estate coffee was very tasty. And the highlight of the experience. now onto the not so good stuff. There was really no vibe in the place, no music was playing and the service was flat and perfunctory at best. No smiles, and no pleasantries. Not essential but all of these factors go into creating a positive experience. And considering that this café is in-between a 4 or 5 other café’s I;d have thought the«experience» factor would have been high on their list of priorities. My wife and I thought we’d order the the sandwiches on offer. She ordered the stir fried chicken sandwich and I ordered the pork belly sandwich. Both seemed like great flavours on paper. And to be fair the first few bites of mine were very nice, but the sauces were uneven and became overbearing by halfway way through the sandwich. I just got the feeling that there wasn’t a whole lot of care coming from the kitchen. The chicken in my wife’s sandwich tasted like it had been fries in cheap curry powder and really didn’t really have a pleasant taste at all and, my wife could barely get through the sandwich and felt ill for the next 3 hours after eating it. I was really underwhelmed. Like I said at the beginning, I may have gotten them on a bad day, but unfortunately the next time i’m in Bronte I won’t be returning here.

Have been here a few times due to my sister living around the corner. It’s a quaint little café that serves really yummy foods. No seriously. Totes nom value. Their coffee’s are pretty good too. Even my mum gave it 5 stars. She had the breatfast with the chilli in it and was blown away because the chilli was actually chilli. The staff are polite and well, you can’t really complain about the view now can you? Now you know why this place is always pumping.

I visited this place in April 2012 and here is what I thought: We just had the pumpkin and spinach lasagne and the the slow roasted lamb and quinoa salad complemented by a glass of house white and a James boags. Delicious food and prompt polite service. Great stuff and thank you. Would def come again and recommend.

One of the few in the area that bakes its own cakes, pies and muffins — always excellent and very good coffee too…

Well, well it turns out you do learn something new every day! Big thanks to Unilocalers Danielle L. and Julie L. as I know understand why Bogey Hole is called Bogey Hole. I’d never understood that name. Despite what I’d always thought was a random name, this café is a favourite of mine. Located on the Bronte beachfront strip serves up great coffee, good muffins and sweet things and scrummy baguettes. It’s the perfect spot for lunch /brunch fun. There’s limited seating at Bogey Hole so I’m a fan of grabbing a take away coffee and muffin and heading over to the beach.

The Bogey Hole is the local moniker affectionately foisted onto the natural rock pool at the south end of Bronte Beach. Bogey is an Aboriginal word for safe swimming hole and none of this has anything to do with the actual venue but I like to educate as I review. You’re welcome! The Bogey Hole was the first outdoor café at Bronte Beach and has been consistently serving up delicious wholesome food at a reasonable price for as long as I can remember. There are a few staples on the menu such as my favourite, the curried lentil burger, and a creative variety, partially thanks to the owner’s Chinese-Italian origins. So you’ll find crispy-skin duck with mandarin sauce on the same menu as Morrocan chicken, lasagne etc and the coffee is great. My long-time favourite café on Bronte Beach, although Le Café Q is quietly creeping up behind…

You kind of think if you’re gonna call your café Bogey Hole you’re going to have to make it awesome… because the names doesn’t reflect AWESOME food… that said if you had some understanding about the origins of this café you would know that Bogie is actually an Aboriginal word for watering hole(isn’t this fun — we’re learning together) This licenced café is open during the day and is a light breezy place to grab breakky of lunch. Their food is light and simple — it feels very old school — which I like… their kitchens quite tiny, so they don’t have too much variety but what they do have is good. I don’t know if they still have it on the menu but if they do can I suggest the Scrambled eggs, on Sourdough with Salmon, Avacado and Aoli. Delicious…This is a great place to adventure too if you’re looking for a good start to the day…
