This might be a rather sad thing to say but there is something rather romantic about a coin laundry, no?
The Carlton North Laundrette is just that and attracts a wide variety of people due to this as well as its cheap prices and safe spot on Rathdowne street.
It is frustrating to get there and realise you have no coins, but luckily this laundrette is all about location and is therefor surrounded by café’s and convenience stores to get yourself some change and a latte while you’re at it.
Best of all, it is open from the early to late hours of every day, so on a Friday night why go out on a date? Do your laundry instead, stinky.

Right in the middle of Rathdowne Village, Carlton North Laundrette is in prime position for the university/​share house crowd. Its prices are pretty on the ball: $ 3 a wash, $ 4 in the new machine and $ 1 per ten minutes in the dryers.
However, the majority of the machines only take $ 1 coins so be sure to bring your purse.
It’s close to lots of other shops too if you like to leave your things and go for a wander. I’ve never had any trouble here with clothes going missing and there’s plenty of seating if you would prefer to hang around. A convenient location for all those dirty clothes.
