Elite Event: Pisco Masterclass

Pisco People, you won me over! I really didn’t know much about Pisco or Peru for that matter. Our tasting and food pairing experience taught me a lot and now I’m ready to book a flight. In the meantime, I’ll have to satisfy myself with Pisco Sours, a drink at once refreshing, full of flavour, with a sneaky kick. But, the food at Piqueos deserves a review of it’s own. Each of the pairings was tasty with special mention to the ceviche and pork belly. Even if the food wasn’t strictly Peruvian, everything went really fantastically together. This has to rank up near the top of my favourite events. I love history, food, and drink and even better when they all come together in one gastronomic journey!

Such a good night. Thanks for organising, Jackie and team… so great to try something new and meet some other Unilocalers, all in a great setting. The kind of night that I want to tell my friends about, except that they missed out big time and I’d just feel cruel.

Wow! The owner and staff really love pisco. It seams that every time a friend returns from Peru, they’ll be raving about a pisco sour, yet I’d yet to taste one that blew my mind. Fortunately for me, the one on offer was amazing. I’m now a convert.
Six (or was it right) different varieties were up for tasting. Similar to wine tasting we started with the lighter options and moved on up to the more robust offering.
The food that was matched was a pleasant surprise. The venue, the owner and staff were all amazing and very passionate about the serious business of Pisco.

Wow. The Pisco Masterclass was extraordinary. A range of delicious pisco options, both straight up or in cocktail form, paired with scrumptious food made for a most enjoyable event. Staff at Piqueos went out of their way to deliver a wonderful evening, complete with a pop in from the very talented chef. Pisco People are doing great work getting this tasty beverage out to the masses, and delivered a most interesting history lesson to backdrop an informative night. Can’t wait to add some new favourite Pisco bottles to the liquor collection, and to get back to Piqueos for more amazing South American cuisine! Another slam dunk for the Unilocal team!

What a fabulous evening the Pisco Masterclass was Its always nice meeting fellow Unilocalers. The Pisco sour cocktail that opened the night was very easy to drink. I wasn’t so keen on the neat Pisco but enjoyed learning all about the origins of the drink from the Pisco People. The food tasting plates matched well with the Pisco & definitely left me wanting more. I’ll be back to Piqueos to try more of their menu. Thanks Jackie for organising!!!

Pisco — where have you been all my life?!
This is serious love. The kind of love you suddenly find yourself planning overseas trips about, daydreaming about you and Pisco snuggling up on a Peruvian hillside, just enjoying each others’ company.
Anyways, where was I. Ahem.
Fantastic event — the venue was great and the food samples all very enticing, putting this place on my radar for a future dinner out for sure. Our Pisco connoisseurs were very informative, with an obvious passion for what they do. And tasting the Piscos on offer you can see why — the Pisco Sour was a perfect way to kick things off before things got serious with some straight sampling. Wowsers. These aren’t just mixers, I could sip most of these all day.

Wow, that was really good. Easily one of the best Unilocal events I have been to. The combination of knowledge, excellent food, and unusual spirits makes for an impressive cocktail. It honestly opened my eyes to a whole realm of liquor I really didn’t know anything about, which will be bad for my liver and bank account but good for my taste buds. Even though it is located in what I have convinced myself is the deep northern wasteland, I will definitely be back to
Piqueos. The food was amazing and I am still that pork belly. Again, an excellent event that combined all the things I love about Unilocal

From the Pisco sour as we all walked in the door to the yummy cheese, chocolate, pork belly and other tasty morsels to the Pisco itself! I really want to just do this all again!

I had never tried Pisco before, so it was a pure pleasure to sample it en masse at this fantastic sit down Unilocal Elite event! I discovered that Pisco (from Peru that is) is a perfect tipple to either include in cocktails or to explore its many varietals by themselves.
I really enjoyed the Pisco Sour cocktail. Well presented, slightly tart but not too sharp and easy to drink. For me, I can see this cocktail becoming a festive season staple.
The information shared at the Pisco tasting session was a real treat. It was great to learn all about this famous South American drink that many Peruvians enjoy even for breakfast! The Pisco People were informative and humorous.
Each Pisco tasting was perfectly paired with some of the most amazing samples of Peruvian food! From the fresh snapper cerviche to sampling cheese and pork belly, everything was fantastic!
