Ok coffee here is average, so if you are looking for a take away coffee, I’d probably go else where. However, if you want some food then this is completely different — come in the water here is great. As many people have already commented that they have good large portions. So if you are hungry and want amount for your buck, then you are going to love it here. I came here for breakfast and ordered the Local Benedict. And it was great. You get a choice of bread — which clearly I’m sad, as that made my day. It is generally crowded and there was a crowd of people waiting to be seated. Even though there are multiple cafes right next door — sea change is by far the more popular. And from the food and the price, it is easy to see why. An extra bonus is that the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Which for some reason is no longer the norm. Anyway, come here for breakfast or brunch — and even though I haven’t come here for lunch, the lunch menu did look exciting.

I keep on returning to Sea Change because of the wide menu selection the flexibility in service,(they will accommodate almost any change to any meal(including half sizing their generous portions)) and the quality fresh ingredients that make for delicious eating. My go to’s are — «veg out Brekkie» the kumera cakes are tasty as. «acai bowl» a healthy kick start to the day that could be mistaken for a dessert. «The salads» an envious filling main meal, «The paella» I ask for the chorizo added and a little added chilli for me too. «The sea-change tasting platter» says for two but easily feeds three. «Chicken burger» big, messy & yum. Coffee is decent. I will return and drag friends there also.

Stroll like a dandy down Dee Why promenade of a weekend morning and you’ll see a few cafes with zero people in them and one with all the people in them. Literally all of them, like some giant baby has been using them as toys and is jamming them all into one room of a huge Barbie play house for it’s own infantile amusement. It doesn’t make any sense, only, it totally does. The café is Seachange. and the reason it’s so beloved by locals is three-fold: the servings are huge(no fleck of steak on a giant white plate here), they’re happy to change absolutely anything on your order without any pissy whining or «No, the chef would kill me» type excuses, and the staff and management are unbelievably friendly. Wulf(sp?) made sure our group got a table inside to protect the little baby we had with us from the sun, and even though he was run off his feet stopped by the table a few times to drop jokes. I had the acai brekky bowl with banana and strawberry and bircher, at $ 15.90 it’s the healthiest way to start the day while still feeling like you’re eating ice cream. The Local with tons of bacon, eggs, and a potato rosti is also a winner, as is, oh, pretty much anything on the menu. When you’re done, slop across the road and roll about on the beach like a walrus. Trust me, it’s great.

One and a half years later, it still has maintained that same quality. Nice and efficient service, great portions and good food. The coffee($ 3.80) is enjoyable(excellent latte art by the way!) and the view is simply perfect. I love coming here when catching up with friends. Their toasted Turkish sandwiches are still my favourite($ 15 and a large portion). Nothing better than consistency and they have it here. Highly recommended!

Sea change is amazing. I go there with friends for breakfast on a regular basis and get the same every time which is the toasted ham cheese and tomato salsa with small bit of aioli. The one time I decide to change it up — the manager actually noticed and commented on it! I was very impressed. He certainly knows his regulars :) One time I went there and they were quite snowed under — I was on my own for breAkfast and had waited 30 mins for my meal. When I asked the waiter he returned with the manager who was very apologetic and explained the order had been misplaced. They then gave my coffee and meal on the house. Didn’t stop me from coming back. Ive already taken a few people there who had never been and they all loved it. They seem to really care about their customers and take pride in what they do. I wouldn’t go anywhere else!

This is my second favourite café in all of Sydney. Beach views, way-above-average coffee, and un-freaking-believable food! To me this is the simple and humble standout of all the cafes and restaurant on the strand. The coffee is always good. Whether it’s the simple latte or my favourite treat, the iced coffee, I am impressed. Now, it isn’t a really medium coffee with nice chocolate flavours, but it is certainly a strong, punchy, strong coffee. I love that. It is a quality most every café I know of is lacking. I believe this is partially due to the a dark roast of the beans indicating a lesser grade of bean, but hey, if you can pull it off, it’s ok with me. The food is fantastic. My favourite is the chicken salad. Oh my goodness I walk away so full I could explode… From a salad… And this is not in the USA, people; this is in Sydney. Now it’s a $ 25 salad, but the flavour is one I would pay anything for. I’m actually gonna do it: thank you, seachange, from the bottom and top and sides of my heart, thank you. The staff is always nice. Yeah. That’s all I got on that one.

This is my go to place in Dee Why. Never fails to deliver awesome food whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner. Have had the paella for two on more than one occasion. Not a big place so it has a great atmosphere and most days there is a line to get a table. For something a bit different try the tasting bowls.

It’s common to find good service. But it’s rare to find exceptional service. The staff are running around on their feet but still so helpful and willing to assist. It’s like their on a high of being busy! Along with great meals and coffee, they’re also willing to seat you at the beach and being your meals out to you. Best of all — you can order half size meals and drinks — so you can easily order both an omelette and acai!!!

This is one of a dozen or so nice restaurants along the Dee Why Strand. I would fully endorse it for a warm day’s lunch looking across the street at the beach and the surf. They do breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a liquor selection or byo. I had an excellent barramundi fish and chips, in very generous portions. Good service, with quick refills on my beers. Only problem is that the tables are very close together(as they are at most places in this area). If you don’t want to hear the two women next to you boring each other with life’s details, you better hope there’s an empty table to move too. I had no such luck.

We went here on a Saturday morning around 10:30am for brunch. A friend local to Dee Why recommended it and since he said it was good we decided to wait 15 minutes for a table. We were glad we waited! Looking around at the other tables we could already see the food looked amazing and the portions looked big! My husband ordered the Californian — — grilled salmon on potato rosti with eggs & rocket ‘n’ tomato toss(19.90). Sure, $ 20 seems a lot for breakfast but you should have seen the amount of food he got. Two people could easily order that and a side and be full. On the menu I saw these corn and cous cous cakes that sounded delish but they came with eggs and veggies which I was not in the mood for. Low and behold– after scanning the giant menu I found that I could order these on their own as well so I got the 2 kumara, corn ‘n cous cous cakes with tomato toss & spicy minted yoghurt($ 12.90). I have a huge appetite for a girl and two of these were just a little two much for me to finish. The taste? Amazing! Our friend ordered the Californian as well with a side of haloumi. I’m not exaggerating when I say there were probably at least 8 big pieces of haloumi for less than $ 5.00. We all had some. I’d be surprised if it was that cheap in a supermarket. Only complaints– The side of half of avocado was nearly $ 4.00 which was a little pricey for me so I went with the quarter avocado. It was a TINY quarter and still cost $ 2.10. Also at $ 7.20 the fresh juice on the expensive side. I get juice a lot at cafes but try not to pay more than $ 6.50. Also, if the servers were a bit more attentive and it didn’t take more than 15 minutes to get an iced coffee, it may have received 5 stars from me. We ended up sticking around so long that we started to see lunches being served and the salads looked amazing. My husband has lived in Sydney nearly his whole life and with odd working hours, he and his friends go to A LOT of cafes. He actually said this may be the best one he’s ever been too. Perhaps a big call considering we’ve only been once but it was definitely worthy of a trip back to Dee Why just to try it again. Considering this is a waterfront spot with great food and huge portions, the slightly higher price of my husband’s meal was still well worth it. If you look at other things like eggs and toast and the generics, prices are comparable with any café I’ve been too around here and on the low end for a beach side café.

As one of my favorite breakfast cafes, its often quite busy, the first to fill on the Strand. My regular is the generous bacon & egg roll, drizzled with hollandaise. Its very rich and there is no problem sharing on two plates. I also have the giant single pancake, with syrup and ice cream. Pricing and service is good, view and ambience is excellent. They get so busy sometimes the coffee comes after the meal. There is also significant variation on my regular cooked breakfasts, i havent sent it back yet but frowned a few times now. It is kid friendly, with coloring in kits when you arrive and generous portions for the littlies.

I’ve eaten here for breakfast and lunch a few times. They have good options that cater for all tastes and are reasonably priced. I like the museli for breakfast and a toasted turkish combos for lunch. Very nice coffee too. The staff here are very helpful. The other week the young waiter spent a good 5 minutes leveling our table without even being asked. Tips: Very busy on the weekend Update: I just went here yesterday for another lunchtime venture. There was only one free table(on a Wednesday) whilst all the other cafes looked empty. I got the kumera and couscous burger on toasted turkish and upgraded my chips on the size to wedges. It might have been $ 20 but it was worth every cent. A-maz-ing. I could literally not finish it if you paid me(and that is very uncommon for me). The wedges were fab too and they mix herbs in with their sour cream, delish. My friend ordered the Portuguese chicken burger and it was equally large and decadent. They do a nice soy mocha too. Yes, I definitely like this place.
