Terrible! The fish and chips are the worst I have had in Perth. Over priced, small fish portions overloaded with chips, it was rubbish. The fish was cooked to a cinder. I hope that someone else is waiting in the wings to open a decent alternative in Hillarys… Give this place a miss!

One of the few places where kids fish and chips actually contain real pieces of fish and not frozen nuggets. Good servings and fast service. $ 10 for each kids meal and good value for money.

The meal was expensive and disappointing. $ 12.80 for grilled snapper that was paper thin and so dry it was unpleasant. $ 9 for a fish burger sounds ok, add $ 4 to make the fish snapper then a bun with a piece of lettuce and fish really doesn’t rate as a burger, a $ 13 burger no less. The fish in the burger was much better quality than the grilled . There are way better and cheaper options at Hillarys, time to pick it up or pack it up Sharky’s.

After enjoying a day in the sun at Hillarys, jumping off the jetty, playing on the beach and in the park, maybe running around the water slides at The Great Escape, fish and chips is the perfect food to top off a day like that. Sharky’s is definitely the place to go in Hillarys for it, you can walk in, still wet from the water, no shoes on and order your food no worries, it is laid back and totally aussie that way. However it is a little pricey, especially for the amount you get, I mean generally you’re sharing with a friend so you can strategise and figure out how to get more for your money but the portions are a little stingy for the $ 14 you’re paying for a bit of snapper. It still tastes good and it’s the only option in Hillarys so unless you drive out somewhere else and let’s face it, getting your fish and chips to takeaway and sitting with your feet hanging over the jetty and watching the sun go down is a much better option.

So there are a few reviews already, but I had to write about Sharkys mainly as I am 50⁄50 about this fish and chip shop. On one hand I love it and on the other, well I don’t. Lets start with the pros! It is in the perfect location, right on the for front at Hillary’s Boat Harbour. The fish and chips is pretty up there as one of the best. Defiantly the best in Hillary’s, hands down! The fish is cooked to perfection, the batter isn’t too greasy, but crispy and delicious. The chips are also amazing, they also have heaps of different condiments so you can lather up the chips with salt and vinegar(to me this is the highlight of fish and chips). It is also really low key, you can happily sit in your bathers or without shoes and covered in sand, and well that is just fine. Overall there aren’t any negatives, its just what an ex worker of Sharkys said to me, and that is why I am a bit sceptical as to wether I trust it or not. I know most workers have something negative to say about there place of work ‘they drop buns on the floor and pick them up and serve them’ I hear things like this about all sorts of places and I take the attitude ‘what you don’t know about, cant hurt you.’ Really I should probably take that approach to what this guy said. But I cant get it out of my head. He said apparently when he worked there, one of the other guys working ‘pissed in the deep fryer.’ I didn’t believe it but he swears he saw it and said apparently its happened before. He also said the kitchen is filthy. It is mainly the urine thing that freaks me out(of course). To that day, I cant eat there anymore. Its painfully annoying as it was my favourite fish and chip place. Thats what rumours will do to you.

Compared to Sorrento Quay’s other restaurants, Sharky’s is very no-frills, at least in terms of its design. Sitting at its tables, one could almost be forgiven for feeling that one was back in high school: there is certainly something of the cafeteria in the place, which is not especially appealing. Fortunately, the food makes up for it, at least if you’re the sort of person who can get excited about fish and chips.(What is there to say, really, about this sort of food? Nothing, really, beyond whether or not it’s good.) You may find it a little harder to get excited with the prices as high as they are, of course, but then I defy you to eat anywhere at Hillarys Boat Harbour and not feel to some extent like you’re being fleeced. There’s a good little selection of alcoholic beverages, which I always feel are necessary with fish and chips, to wash away the salt, and a decent view of the nearby thoroughfare, where one can people watch to one’s heart’s content.

Fish and chips, traditional Aussie tucker stolen conveniently from the British. Sharky’s at Hillarys boat harbour has some of the best I’ve eaten. Offering a variety of fish and chips — related foods, this place is also licensed and has a coffee/cake section too. It is a little pricey for just good ol’ fish and chips, but I think prices are going up everywhere. Took a while for the food to come even though it wasn’t peak food time. Nonetheless, tasty fried goodness enjoyed by all…
