Great spot for breakfast or lunch. Awesome selection of board games for families to keep kids occupied while they wait for the food. Small kids area inside but can be awkward to get to if you aren’t sitting right there. Food is unfortunately average and prices are not so not somewhere we choose to visit often. Tend to go when we have an entertainment book to make it more value for money.

A nice little café in the heart of hillarys boat habour. I got the north side chicken burger with chips and a flat white(my partner got the beetroot juice). Food was average, nothing fancy yet not bad either. Came out fadt which was great! Juice was lovely and flat white coffee was fine. Would love to try on of their cakes as they have a nice selection. Décor was great… I will admit that is what enticed me in. Overall a nice experience :)

I came down here to grab a lunch on a Monday. There were many options at normal perth prices($ 20 – 30). They had a wide range of juices and milkshakes. I shared a pulled pork burger which was enough to share and chips were nice and crunchy. My father had a surf and turf which was a nice size with a yummy garlic sauce. Note to people who dislike children– don’t come here. I may even be tempted to call this the most family oriented place I’ve eaten at. Very popular amongst beachy young mums with lots of games, cute knickknacks for sale and healthy menu. Service was bubbly and friendly– if you want a day at the beach with your young ones this is the place for you.

I went here after my visit to the famous elephant seal on the recommendation of one of my friends. I was initially impressed with the décor and style of the place however this quickly faded when our orders arrived. We both got a burger and I have to say that mine was one of the worst I’ve ever had. There was so much sauce in it that the bun was just a soggy mess, the actualy patty was an off-putting shade of grey and the price we paid definitely did not match the quality.

This was my third or forth visit to the Beach Shack and, as usual the experience was just what the Doctor ordered after a swim and a 4k run along the beach. The place has a friendly welcoming vibe, the prices are reasonable considering where it is and the staff are a great bunch of kids(Hey, I am 67). There is a menu set up outside and you order at the till. They give you a number and your food is delivered to your table. We both ordered a burger with one serve of chips between us and two large coffees. Total damage a few cents over $ 40. O.K., Maccas is cheaper but these burgers were to Maccas what a Mercedes Benz is to a Hyndai Excel. Big buns, not those fluffy things, Nice pump patties with plenty of salad and a tasty slice of cheese. I could have used a little more sauce but that is a minor niggle. The coffees were great, hot and obviously made by a barista who knew his/her stuff. Best of all the chips had only a little salt on them — not smothered in the stuff as so many places do. Special mention to the staff. These boys and girls, for the most part, are only High School age but they are a cheerful and friendly group and what their service lacks in finesse it more than atones for with their enthusiasm and positive attitude. A lot of snootier venues could learn from this place. For a quick meal in pleasant surroundings it is hard to go past this place.

I’m shocked to see that their rating is so low as I love the colourful and comfortable decorations, this place is always packed out, their staff are super friendly, and it’s so conveniently located. I went with a friend for my birthday last weekend and loved hanging out and playing one of many of their board games. Granted I only had the bacon and eggs, but my poached eggs were done perfectly. This is my Hilary’s go to and I will be back to try the lemon meringue pie I spotted.

This place has a really good breakfast selection and has options for those people who like smaller portions. This is a nice change from most cafes in Perth that only seem to offer huge portions for breakfast unless you want to have muesli or yoghurt(you know, girl stuff). Their freshly squeezed juices are really amazing, you can tell that they use good quality produce. Their lunches are ok, but nothing great, just your standard beachside fare.

Wanted to like it. There décor is cool. Nice kids play corner. As we waited for food, we hoped this could become a regular spot, as the kiddie play area is genius. Food is bad. I’m always sceptical when there’s a zillion things on the menu. Which this place has. I suppose the food might be ok if ya just after a burger or the like, but bypass this place for anything more than a simple feed. Even then, don’t expect too much.

Meh. Servings are a decent size although my salad was drowned in dressing and had what I estimate to be a whole red onion. Service was lacking and seemed somewhat unfriendly(although this seems to be the norm in Perth). Was very child friendly with lots of board games, colouring-in books etc Big Gluten-free selection for those who need it. At the risk of sounding like a snob, this eatery is really tailored towards families with many kids hoe-ing into hotdogs & chips — not my cup of tea.

Monday to Tuesday 8am-3pm Wednesday to Friday 8am-9pm Weekends 7.30am-9pm Shop 57 Sorrento Quay, 28 Southside Drive, Hillarys Boat Harbour If I’ve said this once I have said it a million times… I love breakfast, it is the one thing I really just can’t get enough of. Maybe it’s from all those years of being forced to eat ‘boring cereal’ and imagining weevils living in it, while slowly spooning painful soggy mouthfuls down my throat, hoping for divine intervention to blow up the kitchen table… but enough about my childhood. Today I went to the shack at Hillary’s boat harbour and ordered Eggs Hollandaise. The breakfast I received wasn’t completely self sacrificing for thy love-perfect but it was pretty good and there was a good selection of classic options to choose from also. The eggs could have been runnier and the muffins could have been toasted a little more, but the Hollandaise sauce was creamy and delicious. The Shack is a pleasant place which is very colourful with multiple clocks on the walls and a quirky kitsch décor. It’s child friendly and patron friendly as there is a segregation caged off area for kids to play. The service was prompt and the man at the counter was honest and returned the extra note I accidentally handed him which was stuck together with another note. Apart from the breakfast music including of one or two Katy Perry songs, it was a really nice meal and reasonably priced.

We still can’t believe that my cousin paid $ 21.50 for a plate of fish and chips! It’s Australia’s staple dish and it has always been cheap to grab some fish and chips. A big let down was the kids meal didn’t come with drinks and fries. You had to upgrade the meal for another $ 4! I had the lamb burger which was relatively ok but nothing to shout about. Expect to pay $ 58 if you have 3 friends on your party. I suspect that being a hot tourist spot, prices tend to be a little steep here. They should revisit their pricing and offer a slight chance to their menu.

There are already a few reviews on The beach shack, but I had a really bad experience and wanted to share it with you. I went in well about 6 months ago now, and maybe I am holding a grudge, either way I want to tell you all, just as a warning. I am all for a cheap and slightly un-healthy meal. Sitting inside in an amazing location, looking over the harbour, I thought it seemed lovely. I went up to the till to order, to wait a good 5 minutes for the two girls behind the till to stop talking about there weekend. Not a good start. I then said excuse me to interrupt and got the death stare. I ordered a hotdog and chips, simple and cheap. I thought to myself, hot dogs are an easy choice, you can’t really screw one up. Apparently I was wrong. For a start it was cold inside, so I sent it back, then it came out about 10 minutes later with no apology, and it tasted foul. Too much of every filling the onions where in the sauce that is un describable and just plain yuk. Even tomato sauce couldn’t make it more enjoyable. The chips where fine but really nothing special. I know it was cheap but I only have about two bites and couldn’t eat anymore.

The Beach Shack, my girlfriend pointed out to me, smells a little bit like children – or, rather, like someone has been trying to mask the smell of children with disinfectant. This is a curious, very specific smell, I know, and to be honest I must admit that I was surprised that my girlfriend was able to pick it. But she was certainly onto something. The Beach Shack, with its airy, open, very summery design, is certainly very appealing visually, but there’s something about its effect on the nose that really does strike me as a little off. Unfortunately, there’s something slightly off about the coffee, too, with my espresso a tepid, watery thing that I really could and should have taken back. Then again, the place is clearly very popular with the thonged-and-saronged, and there’s got to be a reason for it. I would suggest that it’s probably the cake selection, which really is very impressive, and the fact that one can get coffee and cake together for a steal – eight dollars and fifty cents – on weekdays.

I really like the Beach Shack. It’s just an awesome place to catch up with friends at hillarys that isn’t going to be overly expensive and offers some really great food. I’ve been there a few times with some different groups of people and everyone I’ve dined there with has had an amazing experience. There is no waiter service, which I usually hate because I love being waited on hand and foot but they made up for it. It was my friend’s birthday and the lovely waitstaff brought out the cake we had brought for her which was a lovely touch. I honestly love this place and think it’s a haven for beach goers and anyone looking to catch up with good friends over good food.

Overlooking Hillary’s marina, the Beach Shack is a beautiful and delicious place to dine, for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The serving sizes are very good value for money and there is a little bit of everything on the menu to choose from. The staff are friendly and once you pay at the counter to order, you can sit and relax, rather than having a waitress come and question you every 5 minutes. I regularly visit the Beach Shack after a walk along the coast for one of their fabulous milkshakes otherwise I tend to come mostly for breakfast. This lovely casual ambience is bound to put you in a food coma.
