Chips and gravy! What kind of beautiful genius thought of putting these to thing together? Who ever it was deserves to be knighted. It is the ultimate combo! That is what started my love affair with Sidewalk café. The best part is you can get them to take away! Um yes please! They have delicious dine in food too and delicious coffees. It is situated right in the middle of Lakeside shopping centre, and although it is right in the middle it is much quieter than the busy food courts. I highly recommend this little café, perfect for a catch up date, I go mainly with my mum, she likes it more than me.

As anyone who drinks double espressos will tell you, it’s a drink that comes in all manner of sizes. You wouldn’t think this to be the case, but there’s a good reason for it. The doppio, as it is otherwise known, has in fact become the standard shot size at most places: anyone who orders a double espresso is therefore at the mercy of the barista and his or her powers of interpretation. Does the fellow mean a double double – one hundred a twenty millilitres or so – or is he asking for the standard shot size? In Perth, generally speaking, baristas tend to assume the latter. Of course, occasionally one comes across a place like this once, where the barista’s powers of interpretation are very curious indeed and one winds up with nearly two hundred and fifty millilitres of espresso. Which is fine for me – my palpitating heart notwithstanding – but surely a mistake. Albeit one that I’m not willing to point out: it’s not the greatest two hundred and fifty millilitres of coffee I’ve ever had it my life, but it’s not undrinkable.

Sidewalk Café’s name is a misnomer — it is actually not located on the side of any street. Actually, it is located in the middle of the Joondalup Shopping Centre, not anywhere near a sidewalk. The Sidewalk Café consists of a small front, with a fenced-off area for seating. The Sidewalk Café features some good food and coffee. The staff are friendly, if a little hurried because the Sidewalk Café can quite busy at times. The menu is a mixture of an all-day breakfast and typical Australian café cuisine. The all-day breakfast options feature ample servings of bacon — and we all know that bacon makes any day brighter, right? The Sidewalk Café is a cash-only establishment, but being in a shopping centre with plentiful ATMs, it’s not hard to pull out some hard cash. The Sidewalk Café is a convenient choice if you are inside Joondalup Shopping Centre and are looking for a good lunch or brunch.

This is a cute little café plonked right in the middle of Joondalup shopping centre, which is fast becoming one of the busiest shopping centres in WA. It’s got some great food and is perfect for when you’re in a rush and just want some quick food. On the other side, though, it is a perfect place to meet up with friends to have a coffee and get reacquainted. You must try their chips and gravy. It is possibly the best chips and gravy I’ve ever tasted and it’s the buzz of Joondalup shopping centre. I run from one end of the mall to the other when I’m on break just to get enough time to savour those magnificent chips. Only let down for this place, for me, is the service. The girls I’ve dealt with always seem grumpy and never have a smile on their face. I always feel as if I’m being rushed out. Even when I called to find up their opening hours I felt like a major inconvenience. No customer wants that! But apart from that, it’s great food and the most amazing prices to go with it!
