Lakeside Joondalup Shopping Centre

This shopping complex is MASSIVE!!! It’s gotta be the largest in WA and there’s no way I’ve seen it all. I especially drove here all the way from the Swan Valley to check out their new stores — H&M and Max Brenner. I wasn’t disappointed! Think Karrinyup, meets Whitford City meets Perth City — the variety of stores is amazing.
The only critique I have is parking! Saturday mornings are horrendous trying to find a spot in the undercover section. Forget the queues and brave a slightly longer walk by parking in the areas that are not covered.
Will definitely be back to explore more and hopefully give a ⁵⁄₅ review next time.

all the years I have lived in perth I have never been to joondolup let alone this mall. I’m not a big fan of shopping malls and prefer to support small business. alas this can’t always be the case.
So here we are, the city dwelling gay in his Preppy blue striped shorts, skipper blue shoes, pink Donald trump shirt (white cuffs rolled up) and of course a charcoal grey knit over his shoulders. Think Doris Day Rock Hudson #pillowtalk.
All starts of well, girlfriends all arrive on time, I expect because of what has just opened there. (read next review). We went our separate ways for about an hr and then met up for a 2 hr coffee. (ladies who lunch).
Big hugs to the girlfriends and I escort them all out toward their cars and wave.
Now I’m left to my own devices to go make some purchases that are needed.
This is what has to be said about this mall, I have never come across such friendly sales representatives in perth. I mean, yes we find a gem from time to time and they should be given promotions and pay increases, however this was different. Every store I entered every checkout I made every staff member I asked a question, was so engaging, with smiles, greetings, conversation, questions. I felt like I was in the twilight zone.
It’s 4pm and I exit the same way I entered, only something felt different almost palpable. There was a large police presence and at first I wasn’t sure why. they didn’t seem to be doing anything, just standing about.
I walk toward the station, which when I arrived looked quite nice clean and calm. It was an 11am arrival but a 4pm departure. What a difference a few hours make. There were 100s of what I can only describe as street urchins congregated everywhere. It looked like a scene from Orange is the new black.
I was abused, Y F F (you figure that out) at least 4 times, spat on (missed) and barked at to give at least 4 people a smoke. (I offered dental vouchers instead)
Is it because I looked like I should have been in Capri sipping on a compari and orange in 1954?
My hot tip, go, do your thing early and make your way out before 3.

For years ive never enjoyed visiting Lakeside Joondalup as its not a very inviting place. There’s really nothing special abt this place. Except a few specialty shops. Until they decided to upgrade their building structure & added a new multi-​storey carpark which makes assess to the centre a breeze. Well, they haven’t full upgraded the whole centre hence, there are still open-​air carparks all around the centre.
The new building is beautiful with a few upmarket stores. There’s a Myer in the centre & yes I will come here to avoid crowds on Boxing Day sales.
Many new eateries are also popping up. I’m really excited about that. The only set back is, they will probably operate according to the centre’s operating hours. Maybe in future, they can look into that. Aldi (budget supermarket) will be opening soon.
There are many details that are overlooked hence the missing stars. But overall, I love the new centre & will visit for a occasional shop.

This shopping centre is a long way away from where I live so I seldom go there. It’s so much bigger than last time I went and it also has the biggest Coles supermarket that I’ve ever seen. It’s extremely busy and there are enough shops to suit everyone’s taste and budget. I will be back for sure.

One of the big, major shopping centres in Perth. Woolworth, Coles and lots more. Nice food court and heaps of places to get a good cup of cappuccino. I love it here :-)

Love this shopping centre. It has just about every shop i need in the one place. And cannot wait till they add myers to the list. Once again the parking is a issue. But thars down to bad drivers. Love they food court including the little outside one where grill’d is.

This is the closet shopping centre to me so I’m more likely to come here as I know where everything is. It has most of the shops i usually like anyway. It would be better if not as many people came here at the same time though. It’s always busy and the narrow walk ways make it frustrating trying to weave through the crowd when you’re in a rush. The new addition makes it easier with a portion shoved in that corner.
I can not wait until Myers comes here with the addition of the extra shops and cafés. This place needs a good café!
Parking is a lot better with the new one opened but still could use a few extra.

This is a great mall if you pretty much want to do all your shopping in one go! Coles, Woolworths & a Supa IGA (for all my American Favourite yummies)!
Lots of speciality stores clothing, etc.
with lots of food choices in the food court and also external to the mall you can’t go wrong! My fav Grill’d is outside near the movies & time zone! So all ages is catered for.
During school holidays they have shows, craft activities, balloon twisters, face painters and sometimes cooking for kids to do. All round you could spend all day here no worries!

I spent the most of my years between 2006 – 2009 at this Shopping Centre prior to the expansion, before the expansion this shopping centre was very nice, however since the expansion its been the biggest go-​to location for horrible teenagers who just like to cause trouble. Walking between the shops and the station is basically one massive cigarette centre. In terms of shops available Lakeside is massive, however to me shops don’t make it perfect. I would prefer my smaller local shopping centre (Ocean Keys) or Whitfords shopping centre.

This place is wicked. Plenty of parking both open air and undercover. Train station underneath. Everything you could possibly want is here, except Myers (coming soon).

I’m not a fan of shopping centres, large crowds, kids throwing tantrums, mums shouting, people banging into you. It makes me feel on edge and when I have to go into one, I’m in and out of there in record time.
Lakeside Joondalup pretty much epitomises what I don’t like about shopping centres. It’s recently had a huge section added on so if you’re on one side and then have to get to the other it takes a lifetime of dodging huge families with prams and trolleys. I always, always get disoriented and lost in the older section, there’s all these off shoots of stores and I always get it wrong, so I end up walking the entire perimeter of the place, I’m sure with a facial expression of being tortured. It’s just not good.
However, all that being said, if I stick to the newer section, I’m generally safer. It’s a bit cleaner and less stuffy, and the store are all a good size, so once you avoid a kids throwing their drink on you and dive into a shop you can relax and enjoy perusing clothes or dvds or stationery etc. The new IGA is also a lot easier to navigate than the Woolworths or Coles down the dreaded old end, it’s a lot lighter and more spacious.
Lakeside is right near the train station which is super convienient, and while the old car park is a nightmare, they have built a new multi– storey car park which generally always has free spaces. Grand Cinemas is also right on the doorstep which is easy, and if you realise you forgot to get cash out the atrium leading through to the train station stays open until late so you can run in to use the ATM, which has been handy on more than one occassion.
This is a place I try and avoid, especially on Thursday nights when it’s overrun with annoying teenagers. But it’s my nearest JB Hi-​Fi so sometimes I have no choice. So my advice is, stick to the new section, walk against the wall, don’t make eye contact and if you start feeling overwhelmed, run inside a store!

I wouldn’t go quite as far as some of the other reviewers in praising Lakeside Joondalup. I mean, it’s nice enough, and it’s certainly convenient, but shopping there is hardly a life-​changing experience or anything. (And it doesn’t have everything, literally or otherwise, and to suggest that it does is just silly. In fact, can we perhaps put a moratorium on hyperbolic uses of the word literally from here on out? Thanks.)
What Lakeside does have in its favour is its space. It’s large, light-​filled, and airy, and it’s fun to walk around. The main atrium is especially impressive, with a number of places to eat or get coffee scattered about it. (I’d sooner eat out here than in the food court, which is weirdly dark and off-​putting.)

I literally spend my entire life at the this shopping centre. It is the hub of my life. Right near the train station. Right near my home. Right near my work. It’s literally the greatest place ever. Target, BIG W, Kmart, IGA, Coles, Woolworths, literally everything. And the best specialty stores, Sportsgirl, Dotti, Live, Zu, Strandbags, Victoria Station, Cotton On, Typo, Smiggle. I could go on forever.
AND! And, we are getting a Myer. It’s official. So stay tuned Perth. Joondalup is going to be the biggest thing in the North, if it’s not already.

Lakeside Joondalup is the jewel of Joondalup, being the centrepiece of centre of town. The shopping centre features a somewhat unorthodox design, with the layout reminiscent of a star. While an interesting design, it can also be rather disorientating, so navigating around the shopping centre is not easy.
Lakeside Joondalup has a good collection of stores, from supermarkets to jewellery shops. In the centre are stalls, some permanent, some not. Some of what you might find include photography to hang on your wall, ornaments from Bali and cheap books.
Overall, Lakeside Joondalup is a good shopping centre with enough stores to satisfy almost any shopper. It is easily accessible, with a train station attached, and there is ample parking. If you find yourself lost while inside, don’t feel bad — you won’t be the first nor the last.

I’m not a fan of shopping centres, however Joondalup is a lesser of shopping centre evils.
The Shopping centre spans across 3 levels and is right outside the train station. the refreshing thing about this complex is the natural light– thus explaining, (and in my mind justifying) why a large number of shoppers remain with their sunnies on– myself included! As you walk in the main entrance you can walk straight through the centre (100m if that) to an outside mall with cafes and restaurants. You can also short cut to nearby banks and businesses around the complex by exiting from the second level, which is always handy.
The mall contains all major shops, Woolies, Coles, BIG W and K– Mart. There is also a target and various other chain stores. (all of which can be viewed on their website) Opening hours are roughly from 8: am-5:pm (late night shopping goes til 9: pm) and lazy Sundays mean a 10 or 11: am start depending on the stores.
Parking is available both underground and outside (but there is no cover outside so it’s a good idea to stick up a shade if you’re planning to be there for a while.)
Navigating the shopping entre is fairly easy with signage indicating North, South, East and West exits/​entry points. There are 2 food courts, the smaller one is under the escalators of the main entrance but. there is a larger (and in my opinion– more enjoyable) foodcourt with a more open space, lined with palm trees, further down (towards the south and west wing)
It’s not the best Perth has to offer but as far as shopping centres go, it’s functional and relatively easy.
