Our pre Christmas catch up lunch couldn’t have gone worse. The place has half full(that is a generous assessment). We’d made a booking as there were 7 of us. We all ordered the Thali lunch special, 3 veg ones, 4 meat — simple enough right? Wrong!!! We waiting longer than 50 minutes for our lunch. They gave one of the meat Thalis to someone who’d ordered veg and insisted it was veg — the chunks of chicken said otherwise. In the end I had to get mine to take away after they initially said I couldn’t get it take away. The food was ok(I had to microwave). Very disappointing experience, curry is just not that complicated to take almost an hour! Plus I know that the other large table had pre ordered their food and still waited an hour. I won’t be going back here in a hurry.

This place used to do really good authentic indian, however recently it just hasn’t been quite up to scratch. The staff are extremely friendly and polite, and the décor inside is warm and welcoming. But the food unfortunately just isn’t what it used to be. The chicken tina masala we ordered tasted different, normally a tomatoey spicy sauce, now tasted milky and coconut-ish. The chicken was poor quality and rubbery. The Lamb organ josh was in a delicious sauce, but again the quality of meat was poor, with fatty pieces and kind of chewy. I think this is good for take out on a night when you can’t be bothered cooking!

Sadly, this place has taken a nose dive. I rated it highly earlier in the year, however recent experiences there have not been good. Prawns overcooked and mushy at one end, and raw at the other is simply poor quality. Not impressed.

Today an Indian feast was calling out to us, so we obliged. As we havnt visited the C club I wasn’t sure what to expect. The décor was quite nice with a splash of elegance. We ordered the rogan Josh, buttered chicken, goat curry, saffron rice, cucumber raiti and garlic naan bread. All three proteins had fantastic sauces with bags of flavour, the unfortunate things was all three were very slightly overcooked. The rice was superbly cooked with subtle clove and star anise infusion. Overall a really nice meal with a little let down. Food 7⁄10 service 7⁄10 décor 7.5÷10

Cinnamon Club is a slick, modern-looking restaurant specialising in Indian cuisine. Their food is decent, without being anything special — on the food side, I have no complaints. What was most perturbing for me, however, was the lack of hygiene demonstrated by staff. When we asked for a jug of cold water, we watched in appalled silence as the staff member reached into a bucket of ice with his bare hands, then casually dropped the ice into the water. While they were very apologetic about the incident, it didn’t make any of us want to return again.

My friend and I came in to the Cinnamon Club while waiting for a few friends to arrive on new years eve before heading to the Garden. The staff were more than inviting even though there were cleaning and closing up. We sat at the bar and were welcomed with a basket of poppadoms and ordered 2 orange and vodkas, which were $ 8 as well as 2 tequila shots for $ 5 each. We thoroughly enjoyed chatting to the staff and casually sitting at the Cinnamon Club. I am very eager to head back for a meal after being wowed by the warming nature and cosy ambience. The Cinnamon Club was a brilliant choice, much better and cheaper than any other restaurant or bar we could of sat at for half an hour.

I went to the Cinnamon Club with my boyfriend last week, and I think the best way to describe it is the same way Henry Wadsworth Longfellow described the little girl with the little curl in his famous nursery rhyme — when it was good it was very very good, and when it was bad it was horrid! Half of our experience was very very good — the staff were really friendly and welcoming and the décor was beautiful. We were seated by the window and it was a great place to watch the fashionable people of Leederville go by. We ordered one of the cheapest wines on the menu — Treeton Estate Sauvignon Blanc Semillion($ 33) and it was delicious, a trait rarely enjoyed by the cheapest wines on the list. We shared a portion of poppadoms and a portion of onion bhajis for starter. Both came with a fabulous mint yogurt sauce, and honestly the bhajis were the most amazing ones I have had in my lifetime appeciation for onion bhajis! …But then things turned horrid. We both ordered the chicken tikka masala for mains and we were so sorely disappointed. The chicken in the dish was very poor quality — rubbery and slimy were the first adjectives that came to mind, and the sauce was oily and so salty we thought we would come out of there with a heart condition. That said, I would certainly go back to the Cinnamon Club, but might just order a few portions of those outstanding bhajis instead of a main course!
