Hunter Store

Fine-​crafted leather shoes, lesser-​known brands coveted from over east and beyond! The shoes aren’t cheap, but they are well-​made. This shop is a delight for people who like boots and leather bags. They also have a sweet range of jewellery and watches.

Hunter stocks high quality leather shoes, and a lot of labels that are hard to find in Perth.
The store and range is pretty limited in size, but there‘s always at least one pair I want to take home with me.
Bring your credit card, prices reflect the high quality and rare labels.

Hunter is a mish-​mash of overpriced shoes and bizarre attempts at fashion. The shoes are generally decent, although some of them look more like prettified torture devices than footwear.
Their fashion accessories, on the other hand, are simply ridiculous. For instance, at one point they were selling guitar tubes that had been transformed into pendants for $ 100. Considering that you could buy a pair of guitar tubes for $ 30, then simply drill a hole to fit a chain through…$ 100 is robbery.
Hunter is one of those shops for people with too much money and not much sense.

I’ve got to add my two-​cents worth in review to balance out the gender thing with this outlet… But what’s a lad like me doing in a women’s shoe boutique, you wonder? Well I actually edit a fashion and lifestyle mag online that covers womenswear and accessories as much as mens so I’m often traipsing stores just as a serious stylista should, hunting for the freshest wares off the catwalk.
And Hunter Stores has plenty of them: from fabulous footwear by Marc by Marc Jacobs to local unique designs by the likes of Tristan Blair, this is shoe emporium heaven for the diehard fashionista. You have been warned, girls… best you bring a couple of credit cards.

This shop is quite cool looking, it is really modern with the white walls and shelves and all the neatly presented shoes.
They have some big brands of shoes one of my favourites is Brando and they stock them as well as many other amazing designers. I enjoy the fact that the prices aren’t too high. I mean it is far from cheap but what do you expect from shoes as nice as these.
I am not such a fan of the bags, but Ill just stick to the shoes.

I don’t know why exactly, but stepping into Hunter Store makes me feel like I’m stepping into a spy movie. You know, the bit where the characters are walking through some funky, space-​aged tunnel in some secret government building? It’s not the endless lines of shoes that do it (cos that would be weird), it’s the shop itself. Curved, golden wood stretches across the ceiling and to me, despite the shoes, it will always be the passage some high-​heeled government secretary is escorting the hero through in order to get to the secret meeting room where you have to give a retinal scan to get it.
I just realised the spy visions Hunter Store conjure for me are horribly sexist. And really predictable.
Anyway, enough of that. Hunter Store stock shoes, bags and jewellery, but what they stock most is SHOES. Glorious, beautiful, terribly expensive shoes. If you’re a shoe fanatic and have a credit card (and like spy movies) you need to give Hunter Store a go. If for nothing else then for the fact it may or may not be the front for some secret government agency…

Hunter Store is my newest favourtie place for quality leather flats, wedges and boots. The styles have a distinctly Italian and Spanish flavour, stocking the likes of Sempre Di, Pura Lopez and Brando. You can also find a sophisticated edit of local labels like Divolina and Misano from Perth. Hunter Store is also home to a pleasing collection of bags by After The Apple; the label brought to us by ex-​designer at Mimco.
The fit-​out is just as stylish as the accessories for sale. It’s a brilliantly structured capsule of golden timber with curved ceiling and long back-​lit shelving.
In addition to shoes and bags, Hunter stocks hardware too. There are watches by Marc by Marc Jacobs and some of my favourite little-​known jewellery designers. I’m lusting after the pieces with delicate chains and interesting pendants, in brushed gold and gunmetal greys.

For a shop that describes itself as concentrating on selling just three main products — shoes, bags and jewellery, Hunter Store doesn’t do it all that well.
The shoes are mediocre — a lot of them are old ladyish and the prices are mad high. There’s also not a great selection.
Then there’s the bags — they only had a handful of bags when I was in here last week. Literally a handful, like 5. And they were horrible.
However, they do do jewellery and watches pretty damn well. They have an orgasmic range of Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs watches for both men and women. I come to Hunter Store and loiter by the watch case in the window and the one by the till just lusting after these beauties.
With a great space in the middle of one of the nicest areas in Leederville I can’t help but wonder why Hunter Store don’t do more with their store, there’s so much potential!
