I don’t ask for much in this world, but a good day starts with a great coffee, pleasant service and possible enjoyable meal as a treat ! Only to be greeted with fail of burnt bacon in cheezy Rose’ figure very significant of an 80’s looking BnB room service meal, sent the first coffee back and Second long Mac still disgusting, along non English speaking waitress who argued about my coffee, but even called it a flat white herself… The continual stares with resting bitch face permanently on her face wasn’t exactly the enjoyable ambiance I had in mind to ponder my emails and plan my morning… done and done with this place.

I don’t think Rifo’s is as good as it was a few years ago. My boys had pizza, which was ok, not not exceptional, I had a steak sandwich, which didn’t stand out at all. Overall the food is ok, but not something I would rave about.

There are many variables in life, but also some constants — for me, one of those can be expressed as a simple equation: day when I’m not at work = day when I go out for breakfast. Unfortunately, Christmas wasn’t paying attention and after suffering the indignity of having to cook my own bacon & eggs on Christmas Day, I headed out early on Boxing day and ended up at Rifo’s Café in Maylands with a few other lost and /or hungry souls. My long mac was much larger than I’m used to, but still quite decent. The size didn’t seem to dilute the strength, and it was a good start. The left-hand-side of the menu lists a fairly standard selection and I was beginning to feel a little uninspired but my eyes lit up when I found the«continental breakfast» section on the right — pancakes with bacon & maple syrup… french toast… baked eggs… and the dish I chose as soon as I saw it — The Cardiff. Scrambled eggs with Red Leicester cheese and Dijon mustard in a toasted sourdough cob with chipolatas on the side. This spoke to me on all sorts of levels… and surely it wouldn’t be very big as «continental breakfast» is hotel code for«what’s for second breakfast»…right??? Wrong. This thing was HUGE. They were not small sausages, and the cob was completely full with scrambled eggs — surely at least six. Taste-wise, the chipolatas were of good quality, however I would have liked some more flavour in the egg. It wasn’t bland, there was just so much of it that it would have benefited from being a bit more interesting. Red Leicester is a very mild cheese, and definitely added more colour than flavour. I think a stronger mustard would have helped — a good whack of hot English would have done the trick. This isn’t a cheap meal at $ 20 but it’s hardly bad value and could easily be shared between two. I’m glad I didn’t order a side-serving of hash browns, and hardly scratched the surface. Feeling the need to apologise in advance, I told the waitress that I hadn’t realised I was ordering from the«family» menu and she said that no-one ever finishes it, and she thought it should be a «man v. food» style challenge. Everything about my breakfast at Rifo’s was interesting — coffee, food and atmosphere — and off I went to the Boxing Day sales full to the brim with scrambled eggs, bread, chipolatas and coffee, and happy that the Universe was back in balance. There are still some other dishes I want to try from the«continental» menu and I’ll definitely be back, although probably with a hungry friend.

The food here is good however this can be inconsistent. Its a great set up but its location near the Maylands train station means you are sometimes spoilt by drug addict street theatre. Also 3 out of the 5 times I’ve been there, the homeless just stroll into the restaurant and hassle you for money. It kills the mood.

Consistently serving up delicious wood fired pizzas and pasta, huge menu and is yet to disappoint whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Breakfast at Rifo’s, best Canadian pancakes because the bacon was hot, crispy and salty and the maple syrup soaked in the thin pancakes. Topped with superb coffee, what a start to the day! Attentive service despite busy.

Love this place. Rifos is great for reasonably price meals — dine in or take home. Serving sizes are always generous. Can be a bit noisy to dine in. We a regular take away patrons.

Rifo’s has had a revamp since I last came here, sporting new tables, chairs and menus. The prices have risen to reflect the gentrification of the area. Things to like include that they only use free-range eggs, the vego and gluten free menu items are plentiful and clearly marked on the menu and the service is prompt and friendly. However I found my Mexicana breakfast overall a bit flavourless and at $ 20 overpriced. Coffee was fine. I would come here again, but would order something else and hope it’s better.

I’ve been coming here occasionally for the last nine years and it’s been consistently good. Great coffee and pizzas. I’ve tried several dishes and they’ve all been delicious. Big box of toys for the youngsters, too. Wi-Fi is free but the signal isn’t very good & doesn’t work on my phone, sadly. It’s on the corner of a fairly busy intersection so there’s often a bit of traffic. As it’s at the top of the Eighth Ave café strip, there’s some people-watching fun, too. Sadly, no vegan options on the menu and limited vegetarian options. Also, $ 5 for a takeaway coffee is a rip-off no matter how good the coffee is. Thanks, Rifo, it was good while it lasted…

Rifo’s is a nice place to dine. It’s mixed with traditional Italian food and has the feel of a modern/hipster Mt Lawley/Maylands coffee shop. The food was good and they have a new menu coming, the pricing was fairly standard for this kind of place. The staff were also friendly and efficient and Rifo’s also does coffee, cake, gelato and has a fully stocked bar. Definitely worth a try!

Every other eatery in Maylands was booked out so decided to eat at Riffos’s. I should have just gone hungry because the food was rubbish. Sat at a dirty table and wasn’t served for 40 minutes. The pizza was average and overpriced. Mistakenly decided to try the cheesecake but instead of a freshly made slice, it was rubbery and chewy and obviously wasn’t made that month. Will not go back.

I was a bit concerned reading some of the 2 star reviews from fellow Unilocalers about this place but have to say i was pleasantly suprised with the quality of food and service my friend and I received. i ordered the surf n turf and it was cooked to perfection! The steak was juicey and tender and had minimal chewy fat which is a huge plus for me, the garlic prawns and sauce were so tastey accompanied by a lovely salad. Great spot for a casual dinner, i’ll be back!

We went to Rifo’s a few times during our renovations. They provide large Italian dishes for a very decent price. We’ve tried a few dishes there(Meatballs, lasagne, tagetelle, seafood Mariana, pizza) and have been delighted with all of them. Usually enough for lunch the next day.

This place gives you take-away quality food, service and setting for a restaurant price point. My boyfriend’s pizza was pretty good, but nothing special, while my gnocchi tasted like frozen supermarket gnocchi with canned sauce. This place is simply not worth the price tag.

I meet a friend here about once a month to catch up over brunch and coffee, we meet here for convenience rather than loyalty. I don’t get the whole sitting alfresco at Rifos, as you are right on Guildford Rd, however for some reason those are always the first seats to go. On a cold winters day(well as cold as it gets in Perth) It is lovely and warm inside under the heating lamps– which I think are actually designed to be used outside. The coffee is OK, If you like a strong coffee order the Macchiato as the lattes wont float your boat. The food is average and slightly over priced, but hey, I say that about all the cafes and restaurants in Perth.

Rifo’s a casual, family-friendly restaurant that serves simple Italian fare in a comfortable, uncomplicated setting. It’s greater than Siena’s but lesser than Ciao Italia. The pizzas are pretty good but on the whole, the food is not overly authentic or creative, just straightforward meals. Service is basic and a child’s fussy palate is catered too. There’s no wow factor in terms of food or décor, and gentlemen, please don’t bring a girl here on a date. Rifo’s is where families come for a casual dinner when the fridge is empty.

Rifo’s has a very casual atmosphere to the point of looking a little tired and back-packer esque. It does however have the best bruschetta I have ever eaten! So yummy! Crisp tasty chewy toasted bread with the perfect amount of garlic and olive oil with the freshest fresh tomato and basil ever! delicious! Service is friendly and super fast. Meals are very generous in size and tasty and fresh. Great super casual dinning with authentic Italian style– pizzeria food.

Rifo’s is a funky café located on the corner of Guildford Road and Eighth Avenue. It is hard to miss, with its bright red exterior. There is the choice of sitting either inside or out. The inside is large, if somewhat chaotic-looking, while the al fresco option features smaller tables. If you are part of a large group, sitting inside would be easier. Rifo’s features a wide range of food, from pizzas to a breakfast menu [which runs on until the afternoon]. The coffee is good, if somewhat too milky. They also have a decent beer range, featuring some quality WA beers. The food is somewhat disappointing — with their breakfast menu, the bacon isn’t crispy despite requests for extra crispy bacon, while their lunch offerings are large, but bland. While the staff are attentive and friendly, it is not enough to change the perception that there are better eateries in the vicinity. Rifo’s is expensive, and not much bang for your buck.
