There’s a lot of choices here and chances are you will find the hotdog for you. Personally, I actually remember their fries and recently, their decent hamburgers more.

Okay, it’s probably not my favourite place for a meal, but at least it is better than some of the other fast food offerings. Okay, I probably shouldn’t call it fast because the both times I have been here they have taken around five minutes to serve me, but that is probably because I was at the end of a long line of people. If you like hotdogs, then there is certainly a great selection here — or at least toppings. Their fries aren’t bad(I probably should call them chips though), and they have a really small, and cheap option if you are on the run(though as I suggested, it’s not the fastest of places). It is more of a take-away stall than an eat in, though they do have tables out the front, which are generally all taken up anyway. I don’t mind the place, but it is certainly not a place that I would regularly visit.

Snags, Hot Dogs, Bangers, Weiners — what ever you like to call them. They are here. Snag Stand boasts Small batch production, artisanal hand crafted sausages, lean low fat meats, all natural casings, gluten free, no artificial colours or flavours, vegan and vegertarian options also. No need to feel guilty i guess. Its quick, convient and consistant. Located on the Cnr La Trobe & Swanston St, right under melbourne central. If you have a hunger pain that needs squashing. Snag Stand is a goer.

After an epic afternoon shopping at Melbourne Central, blinded by the sales and ignoring my hunger pangs until I was at the tram stop outside ready to go home. I stood waiting with a sudden urge to devour anything that was in my sight. Well thank goodness Snag Stand was there. I had a Vegetarian Spicy Cheese Kransky and found it to be just what I needed. It was tasty and overall was pleased with my choice and thankful for Snag Stand being in the right place at the right time!

On my exit out of Melbourne I decided to give the Kransky dog a shot. Besides a little exuberance on the cheese side, a pretty solid contender. Food 8⁄10

Snag Stand is a guilty pleasure… I wouldn’t have it often but that one time craving you have because it’s oh so bad and oh so good. It’s also one of those places that open til late, like a kebab van but just conveniently placed on the corner of Latrobe and Swanston. They have a variety of snags from around the world flavours or just classics snags. I like to add on the chilli cheese fries, the spicy sauce and ‘soggy’ fries just fills the rest of the craving!

I honestly don’t understand why this place is popular. The sausage isn’t really amazing. Yes if course it’s better sausage than bunnings, but it just tastes like what sausages SUPPOSE to be. So it’s quite generic for me. The bread is not very good either, not as fresh as I thought it would be. In addition, I don’t think the price is worth it at all, you don’t really have anywhere to sit, and even if you sit, it’s just basically next to two busiest street in city with people walking around. However, it is to be portrayed as a food stand. The chips are really good though, I’ve tried almost all the sauces too, they’re pretty good ones.

I’ve wondered about this place for a long time and never really had the trepidation to venture further. Wasn’t too busy on my evening visit, or though it is more like snag shack than stand. Even though some of the meat snags as it were sound divine it’s too easy of a choice and so instead, I opted for a vegetarian variety of the coney island which was pretty darn good. They ran out of what ever snag they were supposed to have and I got a spicy tasty one instead. Probably much better for me than the mashed pigs gizzards and other dead animal off cuts that are amalgamated into some sort of meat puzzle and then spattered with heavy duty fats. anyway the quick pit-stop for a reasonable snack other than the burger chain’s death burgers was actually quite good. Mine was tasty and I want to go back to investigate the alleged taste-worthiness of this chips that people seem to hone in on. street style ain’t so bad if you’re watching life go by.

Had a chili dog the other day and it was ok, I didn’t really like the sweet bread roll, would have been better if I was asked what bread roll I wanted, apart from that condiments were enough with just the right bite to it.

Yes the hot dogs are pretty good here(my favourite is the Greek), but what I would really like to rave about are the chips! Best chips I have found so far in the city! ps. If you’re getting the Weisswurst note that the saurkraut is of the sweet(rather than sour) variety, which might leave you a bit disappointed depending on your preferences.

I’ve been here twice, the second time hoping that I get a better experience, but both times have come up short. I think the theme of this place is something like a hot dog stand, similar to Pink’s in LA, but it’s just not cutting it, especially when it closes at 6pm. OK, so they don’t serve hot dogs, they serve a variety of different sausages on a yellow bread, with toppings. I guess this is not to my taste, but the fries I must admit are awesome. Will definitely come back for the fries

There are some really nice options here, particularly the Pork and Fennel and the Toulouse, great tasting and imaginative hot dogs. Unfortunately there isn’t much room to sit and there can be a wait for your meal, so best for a grab and go. The snags cost around $ 10 each which is quite pricey for what is essentially fast food but it is good quality stuff. The chips are great — some of the best chips I’ve had anywhere.

For me this place is good to try once. It’s not bad, not a place to run to. Grab a ‘snag’ thin sausage in a dry(thats what I was served) bun with some of your typical fillings. Glad I waited the few minuets to be served(they were busy) but the wait was not worth it. Seating on the street which I’m ok with but be ware — you will be asked for ‘money’ ‘cigarettes’ if you wanna buy drugs. The staff seam ok with this(you are eating on the street). I know my review sounds very harsh, but the ‘snags’ are fairly good. Good for a quick snack — I guess that’s why it’s snag stand!

Looking at this place I thought«awesome, this is like Grilld but with hot dogs!». Looks can be deceiving though. I got the chorizo dog, with goats cheese. The bun was tasty, but the cheese wasn’t even melted and overall it felt a bit rich. It was an average size. If I’m getting a $ 10 hot dog, it better be fucking awesome. It was ok, I won’t be back. A good concept, it’s not working here though.

I’ve only had the Classic American so far. It was a good dog, but there was too much sauce and pickle relish that made everything a tad to sweet and vinegary for my liking. The brioche bun was the real star i think. Would definitely go back to try another, perhaps a more complex, one of their offers.

Came to check out this place based on the glowing reviews here. Had the Chicken & Rocket that was on special today for $ 7.50. I must have ordered the wrong item because I just couldn’t taste anything special about the sausage. The bread had good texture but the sausage + topping was a bit too salty, greasy and fatty. I’ll have to come back again another day for a different sausage to see if it’s any better. As for my first visit, I was disappointed. IMO the sausages are not worth the normal price of $ 9.90. A sausage just does not quite fill up a grown adult like me. Overpriced for what is really a takeaway sausage stand(the three or so tables are filthy by lunch time).

I had a whole review planned out in my head — I was going to utilise some quality sausage puns and classy double entendres to illustrate my feelings about the place. But that simply isn’t necessary. To be blunt — interesting sausages on nice rolls, with decent condiments. A simple formula — great for all those sober, and not so sober times when you’re Jonesing for a sausage. Although it’s easy to slop it all over your hands. Watch out for the organically forming queues at the window too. First-timers seem to be mystified by where they need to stand to order food, possibly due to the position of the tables and/or the staff who are all too happy to make inviting eye contact(even if they’re staffing the grill).

I once had a great business idea for an Aussie BBQ restaurant and bar where you could get excellent sausages in rolls cooked BBQ style served from a canteen window and sit around a park-like environment. Damn you, Snag Stand — you’ve beat me to it! Well, it’s almost the same. There’s no drinking at Snag Stand, so you can’t enjoy a beer with your snag, and the tables and stools are set up on busy Swanston St, just outside Melbourne Central just across from the State Library, so it isn’t all that relaxed. But the food is spot on. I’m vego so I had a Vegetarian snag made with potato, smoked apple and sage, served on a broche roll with onion, rosemary mushrooms and truffle aioli. For $ 9.90 it was a bloody ripper lunch! Funnily enough, the place is owned by an American, Phillip Blanco, who moved to Australia in the 90s after travelling the world opening Gloria Jeans stores.

There’s simply nothing better then one someone takes an everyday food item and turns it gourmet. In this case we have the humble hot dog. White bread, pork and tomato sauce; no longer. A few choice menu options at Snag Stand are: WAGYUBEEF– SERVEDUPON A RUSTICROLL W/BUTTER &GARLICMASH, HERBEDGRAVY&TOPPED W/SAUTÉED ONIONS PORK&FENNELITALIAN– GRILLED W/SAUTÉED TRI-COLOURCAPSICUM, SAUTÉEDONIONS, BALSAMICGLAZE&SHAVEDPARMESANON A TOASTEDBRIOCHEROLL SPICYSPANISHCHORIZO– GRILLED W/SEMI SUN-DRIEDTOMATOES, CHIPOTLEAIOLI, BABYROCKET&SHREDDEDSPANISHGOATSCHEESEON A BRIOCHEROLL Snag Stand serves up the sort of delicious fast food that you don’t feel guilty eating. An inspired take on an Aussie classic has gone gourmet.

Unless I am much mistake, famed physicist Albert Einstein said it best. WAHOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Damn, I love sausages. And these sausages are fantastic! Well, the Chorizo I had today was, anyway, and I doubt very much it was an accident. The sausage wasn’t dry, and the bun and garnishing choices were incredible. The rest of the range looks great too. Admittedly, at about ten dollars each you’re looking at double the price of my previous hot snag vendor, but let’s not quibble on the happiest day of my life.
