The almost vertical staircase on Hickson Road will shortcut you up into the CBD but it will also lead you to a well kept secret — Topfloor café. Tucked at the top of this staircase this cute café is a great morning coffee or lunch pit stop. The space itself is open and light with friendly owners welcoming you inside. The balcony is the real surprise with views over Sydney Habour to Pyrmont. The food is actually really nice here — I had lunch here today and ordered a Thai Chicken Gourmet Pie ($ 8.50) which was served with a fresh side salad. Just one word of warning, when it gets busy the owners can rush you a little to order but always in the nicest possible way (I have never heard so many ‘yes, please, thankyou’ in my life!).
