Diabolik Books & Records

I love this shop with its eclectic range of books. I only discovered it recently and now I can’t stay away. There are a few mainstream books, but it’s mainly books appealing to different niches, and you won’t find shelves upon shelves of crimes or thriller novels. Yes, they have a stock of these, but their main focus is on the different, the unusual and the cult books. I’ve been a Marvel fan since girlhood many moons ago, and I was thrilled to discover a whole range of superhero books and comics. Perfect for sitting and browsing on the 2 comfy chairs in the quiet corner down the back :)
They also stock quirky cards and gift wrap, retro albums, toys and an excellent range of board games. We are fans of the new wave of board games, and Diabolik has stocks of Cards Against Humanity, Avalon, Ticket to Ride and Dixit, to name a few. Their prices are competitive too — I paid marginally less for some games from an online shop that took a few weeks to arrive. Here it’s instant gratification!
In case you needed further persuasion, Diabolik is located next door to that delicious dessert café, Bites by D. You can catch a read, and follow it up with coffee and a delicious cake. That’s a perfect afternoon in my book, pardon the pun :)

This place is epic! Comparable to stores like Crows Books and Planet Books, it offers a variety of goodies from gifts, cards, records, clothing and of course books!
The store is quirky, the staff knowledgeable and friendly and I just feel in love.
They offer books not available on the usual online ordering like book depository and this makes it an absolute go to gem!

Only recently opened, this new addition to Mt Hawthorn is a book lovers dream. Though the range of books isn’t huge, it’s like they have been handpicked with me in mind. Books on art, business, fashion and a good range of fiction too, you are bound to find many books you want to take home with you.
It’s a wonderful place to find a gift for a friend. There’s boardgames, a wall of records, cute home wares like unique tea-​towels, they have have a few teddy bears thrown in for good measure.
I’ll definitely be heading back here when I get paid next, or whenever I need to get a gift from now on.

This recently opened book and record store is Mt Hawthorne’s answer to planet books, with a little more gloss and polish. A one stop shop for the perfect gift, they have a great range of gift ideas, unique cards, records and a huge range of books. The selection is impressive with a kids collection, music, photography, lifestyle, comics, current affairs, fiction, interiors, art, fashion and heaps more for anyone who appreciates a good read or a nice addition to the coffee table.
