I have a big thing about good staff and great service, and these guys really exceed expectations. Smiling, stunning edgy chicks and tall, gorgeous men with perfectly groomed beards welcome you from behind the bar, offering you drinks from a large and well-chosen drinks list. Table service is offered throughout the whole venue and I kinda want to sit and try everything on the menu, both drinks and food, because the lists are so extensive and everything just looks and sounds so good. I’ve never been able to complain or even pick at the service. It’s really spot on. As well as good service, ambiance is a really big thing for me, and while I know that I love Clarences more than I love my own house, I’ve never walked in to feel atmosphere that wasn’t spot on. Even at 1pm on late winter Saturday, when there’s might only be four tables taken, there’s a feeling of happiness. It’s welcoming and really enjoyable. Recommendations: Food — mac and cheese — pulled pork burger — ramen fried chicken burger — jamon(order with bread and pickles) Wine Ask the barstaff for recommendations on wines, their bottle wine list is to die for, although the glass list is also pretty outstanding. Cocktails Manhattans are my favourites, The West Winds Gin(cutlass) southside or Fernet Branca and coke on tap.

Clarence’s have been around for 5+ years, yet still manage to keep the venue fresh and exciting. Their staff are always on their toes ready to help with their favourite suggestions, best people watching perch or which of the delectable cocktails to start off with. However it isn’t the staff or the cocktail list that bring me back time after time… it’s the Truffled mac and cheese. Truffles, pasta, cheese… whoever came up with this flavour combination deserves a medal and maybe a marriage proposal. This decadent and indulgent mac and cheese is so moorish you won’t want to share. I might be back tomorrow… and the next day!

Every time I have been here I have thoroughly enjoyed it. The ambience here is actually spot on. The staff are consistently topping up drinks and giving recommendations. They are knowledgeable on the menu and very well trained. I would have to say at this stage Clarences dominates the beaufort street strip in terms of bars. I’ve had the arancini balls here as well as a few other appetizers and the food seems to always be fantastic.

This is one of the coolest little spots over in Mt Lawley to hide away and grab a drink or three and some tasty nibbles. I love Clarence’s. During the week they’ve got food and drink deals but they’ve always got a seriously good negroni or old fashioned to serve up to you. I’ve never dined in for a sit down meal but I’ve eaten a lot of the light bites on the menu and they’ve all been stand out, the only one that was a little bit boring was the mozzarella. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t my favourite on the menu for sure. I can’t wait to get the chance to actually try out some of the bigger meals on the menu. The drinks are always great, the house cocktails are good but I prefer the classics myself and the guys behind the bar are always more than happy to mix up whatever you ask for, a particular favourite drink of mine is a gin old fashioned style. So good! I love, love, love this place and will be here often, that’s for sure.

Great atmosphere and service. Food is not the best but sometimes it’s just about the catch up and that’s a nice place for it!

It’s a very lovely place to dine in. We all love the interior, nice atmosphere, comfortable seating, just a little bit too dark inside. The girl who served us was very friendly and attentive. A small menu, but good for sharing. We ordered the beef short rib Slaw, but we couldn’t find the slaw on our plate, the beef rib taste good but the meat is a bit dry. We also had chorizo & octopus, both were good. their ramen fried chicken burger was delicious, crunchy outside, juicy inside. The pear and brie toasties had interesting flavor, good combination, but we found the bread was too thick which made us very full. We shared the trio ice cream, White chocolate, coconut with cherry and applejack, these flavor are very special, but sadly we found a bit weird on taste. Overall, we enjoyed our dine in experience here.

Love this place! Been 4 times. Great food, awesome drinks and even better service! Reminds me of the service I would get in North America! Miss the crab tacos, love the talented cocktail bartenders!

First time I’ve been here tonight & I hope is not the last I am overly impressed at the quality of service from the staff great attitude & energy & just over all great customer service plus the atmosphere was perfect in every way dark & cosy & intimate(although we were here early not sure it would be so intimate later in the night!) & we also thoroughly enjoyed our food & cocktails it reminded me of my magical holiday in Texas a step out of perth without flying across the seas… im impressed guys!

Previous reviews are spot on in terms of ambiance and service. It’s dark and cozy, friendly and prompt. We thought the portions were very good size for the price paid. However, that’s where the excitement ended for us. Based on previous raving reviews we came for the chicken wings(offered with hot sauce at the moment), but came away disappointed. The batter and frying style was such that they were super fatty. Disappointing really. The duck fat potatoes(again, generous serving) wasn’t exciting. Very bland taste; we felt fortunate to have the spicy chicken wing sauce to make it a bit more appetizing. May come back at some point, but with so many places to choose from it’s pretty unlikely. Maybe we were unlucky, but with both dishes disappointing? 2 stars for food. ½ bonus star for atmosphere. Round up to 3.

A great little place. A bit dark and mysterious but in a good way. Unique décor. This place oozes sophistication. A short and sweet menu bit with enough options. Food was delightful as was the service. Nothing to fault except the music was a touch loud for the indoors. Would definitely go again, loved it!

«This is still the coolest, literally and socially, outfit in Mt Lawley.» Its what the Über Blonde and I say every time, and there have been many, we walk into Clarences. We had been at RTRFM and given that our target, Enriques School for To Bullfighting, was not open for another half hour we ducked in for a pre-gin thirst quencher. The staff here are absolutely top notch and our Proseccos were on us in an instant. Even though were were hanging out to eat at Enriques, a couple of newbies on the Clarences menu looked interesting. We decided to share the Crunchy Green Papaya salad and let me tell you after one bite my willingness to share it disappeared — totally. Easily one of the best GPS I have ever had — including in Hanoi. Sour, spicy and loaded with perfect flavours — a true plate licker. Great food, go and get stuck into it and stay a while — the staff are brilliant.

FINALLY headed along to a Cider Sunday at Clarences a couple of weeks ago and will definitely be back again. Friendly service, cheap pints, excellent food and a killer sound track all made for a very satisfying end to the weekend. The bar was packed by the time we sat down for dinner, so I was glad we’d booked a table in the restaurant section at the front. The chicken wings were among the best we’ve ever had and the cheese burger was delicious, though could have done with a bit of salad in it, because it was full on.

I love being able to give a place a smooth 5 stars… Clarence’s from what I have experienced so far definitely deserves it. Stopped in on our way home from town for a bite and one last drink and I’m glad we did because I’ve never had the pleasure of dining at Clarence’s before last night. I’d been for drinks, and always liked the décor and atmosphere of this place. Anyway, we were greeted by a very cheerful sweet young girl ., I promised I’d remember her name so I could give her a shout out but I’ve forgotten already! It started with a K! She was on the ball, friendly and had a great attitude… I almost thought I was back in California. Good service in Perth is hard to come by, however she was impressive. So my friend and I decided to keep it simple by ordering the cheeseburger and the Custard & Co apple scrumpy cider. My friend, being the fussy and short changed person that he is, winged about the price of the burger briefly but retracted it as soon as he took one bite out of his burger. It was so flavorful and delicious and practically melted in my mouth. The wagyu beef was so fresh, that you really couldn’t even compare it to a cheap pub burger. As much as i wanted to try something sweet before we left, I just couldn’t fit it in, which means I’ll just have to come back soon… yum!

Oh my god! Great crab tacos I just wished I had ordered more. The wife absolutely loved the mac an cheese. The regret we both have is not ordering more starters. We had the steak and barramundi as our main and neither of us were impressed. They weren’t bad meals but not what I was hoping for after the starters.

I’ve never been disappointed with the food or service at Clarence’s whether I’ve been there after work, for a weekend lunch or weeknight. Tonight I was able to get a table without a reservation(only until 8pm but that was enough), dinner was great and we enjoyed a delicious chocolate marshmallow Poprock dessert with raspberry sorbet served to us by a Ryan Gosling lookalike(you all know the one!) who gave us extra Poprocks. The mulled wine was amazing and they serve my favourite Lick Pier ginger beer. How could I not give it 5 stars!

… A month ago I turned to ever trusty Unilocal to find a place for drinks and food for a pre comedy appetizer … The first place I stumbled onto was Clarence.. read and booked a table online immediately!!! We are over the moon that we did… As cider lovers we found a home… but the food we had was what won us over!!! We couldnt decide on what to hace, so we ordered a varying amount of entries.. The chicken wings are amazing, the mac is fantastic … All the food is great!!! Atmosphere and service was spot on…

I was so looking forward to trying out Clarences and was excited when my friend held his birthday do there last Monday. But I have to say I wasn’t really that impressed. Whether it was because I had such high hopes because of past reviews or that it was just a bad night, I’m not sure. It was absolutely packed for a Monday night so it was quite hard to find a table and they had heaps of free tables at the front which were all reserved. I decided to share with my friends the chicken wings with chipotle sauce, the arancini balls and a bowl of fries. The chicken wings were tasty and the sauce was delicious… but the other two dishes I wasn’t happy with. The arancini balls had a really strong taste of saffron which over powered the rest of the flavours and the chips tasted burnt, so much that I didn’t eat more than a couple(but in saying that my partner loved them and finished them all over so maybe it was just me?). I also found it very expensive there… the cheapest bottle of white, the house white, was $ 45! And the glasses of wine were no less than $ 10. On a good note, my partner got the chicken schnitzel which was on sale for $ 20 with a pint of beer– the Monday night deal, and it was really really yummy– I was jealous I hasn’t chosen that! Not sure if i’ll come here again… but if I do I would like to try one of the burgers because they sounded good!

It has been a while since I have come to Clarences I have previously been here on a number of occasions for dinner and drinks! It is a cosy welcoming venue and I love the ambience of both the dining and bar areas! I went to Clarences tonight with a group of girlfriends for a going away dinner! There were 9 of us so it was a fairly large table. Being a large group usually ordering from the tapas menu can become problematic! Our waitress asked if we were happy for her to choose a selection of dishes for the menus for us to share and then asked if anyone has any particular allergies/food they didn’t eat — I spoke to her briefly as I don’t eat shellfish and she said it would not be a problem and she would make sure I had plenty to chose from! 5⁄5 alone for the waitress and the dishes she chose! Looking at the menu we had the mixed nuts, saffron machego arancini, grilled pear blue cheese honey ciabatta, lamb meatballs, grilled beans almond noisette, chorizo and hot chips. There were multiple plates of most dishes and at the end of the night the bill came to $ 17.00 a head for food which was extremely reasonable. The food was delicious and filling for small portions! My favorite dishes were the mixed nuts and the grilled pear blue cheese honey ciabatta and had I have know that there was blue cheese on the dish I wouldn’t have even tried it led alone ordered it! Seriously good flavours and it was very hard to fault any of the waitresses selection. The drinks list is extensive, I only ordered a Matsos Ginger Beer but there was a good selection of beers, wines and cider! Plenty to choose from! The bar area was buzzing with a steady flow of people coming in the front door, and at times even a small line! The seating for the food area was full all night and was very well run by the wait staff. I love this venue and if there weren’t so many places in Perth to go I would definitely find my way here more often!

This joint is all class… That’s why we go to get our chicken wings there. Retrofitted with suspended world maps, swanky lamps and lights, and candles glowing behind the bevy bottles, Clarence’s stands out as my favourite cosy place to grab a drink, dive into some nibbles or enjoy some mid week cheap eats specials — and that’s just in the bar area at the back. We have yet to eat in the dining section but from what we’ve seen so far I’d guess that’s 5 star too. The staff is always friendly, the service is always superior and we are always on the lookout for the Ryan Gosling server look a like.
