Hmmm, I feel mixed emotions when it comes to Red Firecracker. I don’t have too much experience in the department of Malaysian cuisine, but usually I trust my taste buds. I’ve been to Red Firecracker twice, once to dine in and once to take away. When I dined in I was pleased with my meal, the basil and cashew stir fry. The flavours were clean and fresh and the price was very reasonable. We enjoyed some spring roles as well, they were OK but they weren’t memorable. On the second occasion when I ordered takeaway I made a point to ensure that I didn’t want any tofu in my Laksa. I’m not sure whether there was a language barrier or a miscommunication with the kitchen, but my Laksa had more tofu than any other ingredient. Such a shame seeing as that bad experience has stuck in my mind much more than the good experience we first had. Red Firecracker no doubt make good food, but I wouldn’t write home about my experiences there. However this could be because I am a novice on the Malaysian eating front, so perhaps I just didn’t get it???
