Grappino is located next to one of Brisbane’s icon restaurants(Montrachet) and often gets overlooked when considering a great place to have a meal. It’s a traditional Italian trattoria and is a wonderful little space inside the restaurant, with part of the space dominated by a very large collection of Italian(and other countries) wines, which can match any of the meals you opt for. The menu is very pasta based, which is great for an Italian restaurant, but there are other options just in case you feel like something different. When the restaurant is full, it has an amazing vibe but it can become a little difficult to hear your dining companions, so if you love a robust conversation and a good meal Italian style, then Grappino is the spot

I think I have a new favourite Italian restaurant in Grappino. Located on Given Terrace in Paddington right next to Montrachet, the décor is flawless, the staff are friendly, and the food is outstanding. Our entrée of bruschetta was some of the best I’ve tasted and it was a dead heat as to who received the best main course. My gnocchi was rich and creamy without being overbearing or heavy and went nicely with the caprese salad I ordered as a side. I tasted my companions’ dishes(penne puttanesca and prosciutto-wrapped pork) and both were incredibly flavoursome. We ordered a tiramisu and panna cotta from the dessert menu and thoroughly enjoyed both along with espresso shots. The restaurant is simply but beautifully decorated and Italian film and television posters adorn the walls. The ladies bathroom was very clean and spacious and perfumes were available for those needing a top-up. Overall, the experience was fantastic with the only room for improvement being the lighting, which was a little bright. I’ll be making the trip to Paddington quite regularly.

Located right next door to Brisbane’s finest french restaurant is one of Brisbane’s best Italian restaurants — They planned it that way I’m sure. Family owned and operated since its establishment this place serves up some fantastic, authentic Italian food which has plated up a consistent standard for many years and I don’t know anyone who would disagree. Grappino’s has an extensive wine list, an array of Italian beers, and both traditional and novel takes on some classic Italian dishes that will have you saying ‘thats amore’ in no time. Although not as busy as it’s french neighbour you do need to book well in advance, with opening hours closer to the norm however you shouldn’t have too much trouble. Order some resveratrol rich classic Italian food and wine, refrain from wearing white and enjoy! I
