Fresh and authentic Indian food!!! My friends couldn’t stop praising the place so I had to check it out. Being an Indian, I have pretty high bars when it comes to Indian food but I absolutely loved the fair. We ordered Paneer chilli milli, Bhindi Do pyaza, Dal makhni, chana masala and garlic naan and everything was absolutely scrumptious. You could really smell the fresh spices and everything had authentic taste to it. They have fairly good collection of drinks to choose from. The service was friendly but the waitress was little clumsy and dropped the whole tray full of food on the floor. Other than that it was a pleasant evening with delicious food. I would definitely recommend trying this place.

Good cocktails, great service — we ordered the butter chicken(an absolute must order) and a spicy lentil curry that was so hot that it was hard to eat, the waitress recommended it but did tell us it was really hot. A great experience and definitely worth a visit on busy Beaufort street.

For someone who isn’t a big Indian cuisine fan, I absolutely loved this place! We indulged on lamb vindaloo, yellow lentil dhal curry & tried both butter and Garlic naan bread. The food was fresh and full of flavour. could really taste the authentic Indian herbs & spices. Service was quick and friendly. like the majority of the reviews it was a bit strange having a waitress roaming around with a jug of water on the lookout for empty glasses but at least they were accommodating(the dishes are quite spicey!) All in all, if I can find more Indian restaurants of this standard I think I’ll soon become a big fan of Indian cuisine!

This is a great Indian restaurant, it’s got all the classics and some originals as well, I love Indian and I love when Indian restaurants have Indians working there because you know it’s authentic. This Indian restaurant has bowls when you order so the quantity is quite large, I always end up bringing some home. It’s not too expensive either. I had a funny experience there as there is a ‘water woman’ who fills up your cup of water and this particular night she was very determined. Every time my partner and I took a sip of water or at least the water wasn’t to the brim she would refill it, so we would tease her and take the smallest sips to see just how full is full and then pretend to sip and see if she comes over(which she did, and it was hilarious). Anyway really great atmosphere, there’s always a great group of people sitting and chatting, there’s outdoor seating and you can smell the spices from down the street. My favourite thing in the world is nan bread and they make a great one! Must try! Really great for dates or dinner with friends. Yum yum!

We are really spoiled for choice for Indian cuisine in Perth so when I eat at one where something is not quite right, it’s not a tragedy. I just don’t go back. But tonight, you could say I’ve had a change of heart. I went with 3 friends to 2 Fat Indians, having been here myself several times previously and enjoying each visit. For a Monday night, the place seemed unusually busy. In fact, it was heaving. Regardless, the staff were doing their usual exceptional job of keeping the punters happy. Water glasses were continually topped up, a generous serving of free pappadams with dip sauce was provided, and the meals came out all together, exactly as ordered. Serving sizes were sufficient and flavour was good. But not great. Not as I remembered from previous consumption. It was just a little *meh* on the whole. The tandoori lamb cutlets were overcooked and tough and the lamb in the rogan josh was dry under all the sauce. As implied, it certainly wasn’t anything to complain about but it did lead me to decide I wouldn’t be back. In the last couple of weeks I’ve had some cracking great Indian food in two other joints in my ‘hood. I would just go back there. The difference being, when we went to pay, the gorgeous woman behind the till asked us how we enjoyed our meal. ***And she actually seemed interested in listening to our reply***. One of my mates piped up about the dry lamb dishes in a polite manner. The lovely lady then did something so outside the standard in Perth that it almost belies belief. She *apologised*!! Then she offered a reasonable explanation. Then she knocked $ 40 off the bill. I KNOW !! Amazeballs right there. So that’s maybe why you should(and I should) give this joint a(nother) look in. If tonight’s food was an aberration, then 2 Fat Indians has it all: good location, decent décor, busy patronage, tasty food, average pricing and service. Oh yeah, the real meaning of service. They have it in spades.

Great ambience and very very attentive service. Offers a wonderful dining experience. Portions are quite small, so for a small group 4 or 5 dishes would be perfect. Beautiful flavours and fresh ingredients. Would highly recommend the chicken korma

Been here several times before and this is one of our favourite Indian restaurants. Very modern style atmosphere with very friendly staff. The food is always very delicious which makes it very easy to over eat. One of my favourite dishes is the Chama Masala, which is a chickpea dish, plus I also really like the Onion Bhaji’s. So yummy! Everything is really good haven’t had anything yet that wasn’t tasty. We came early on a Friday and was the first ones booked in, however the place filled up very fast. Been before later in the evening and it can be difficult getting a table without a booking. I recommend coming early for the best service.

They had a very attentive waitress with the most unusual name I’ve ever seen — Trainee. She must have thought I was as parched as a camel in the desert because she filled my water glass no less than ten times.

Finished up a great weekend with a feed of Indian at 2 Fat Indians. Service was poor to average, with wait staff bordering on rude, while the Maitre D provided very pleasant and polite service. One wonders if it is so hard to smile while serving food, or if a waiter could workout to clear the table of entrees prior to bring the mains??? Food was not bad, not bad at all. We shared Butter Chicken, Lamb Korma, Dal Tadka, Ralta and Nan Bread between the two of us — serves of the meat dishes were a little on the small side. The food is the only reason why I’m giving it 3 stars. Wine list is average considering the up-market feeling of the establishment. We paired a Art Series Sauvignon blanc with the meal which worked ok. Will be back to see if the service is better on other nights, as the food is great.

We have dined at TFI’s numerous times now, and we have enjoyed the culinary delights very much. All proteins have been perfectly cooked, with a fantastic complexity in their spices. On our last visit for my wifes birthday we had a guest with a garlic allergy. Not expecting to have a problem I did not call in advance to request food without garlic, as I expected to simply order him freshly made curries without garlic. Sadly we were told by the Chef through the waitstaff that every single thing on the menu(i mean everything) was pre-prepared and utilised garlic so nothing could be made fresh, so there was no fresh proteins to be seen. So plan B was to get something from outside the restaurant and bring it in… Doh strike 2 or was it 3? the waitstaff said they would not allow him to bring the food inside the restaurant, so unfortunately he had to source a dodgy kebab and eat it on the verge before he could come back inside. This was a truly dissapointing moment to the birthday dinner, as I presumed they would be more accomodating. Moral of the story is do not go to a restaurant that prepares food before hand. Man, I felt like a Rajah(King) in this place. Seemed like they rolled out the red carpet with regards to the service. Décor is really smart with accentuated by good lighting. A very priced place, so I decided to spoil myself with the bottle of the best(Voss), Tiger Prawn starter and the Chicken Tikka Masala with Kashmiri Naan. Nothing failed to impress me on my first night of WA indian cuisine. They had to roll me out of that place as it was way too much of food for one person. Lovely vibe — can’t wait to go back and spoil my wife here.

I thought the curries were OK here, I have had better in Perth though. We came here for my cousins birthday and there must have been around 10 of us. They messed the order up and my husband curry came out 20 Min’s after everyone had finished! I had the chicken vindaloo which could have benefited with a little more spice and my husband had the madras which wasn’t that tasty. It is a lovely looking restaurant and you will enjoy sitting here for a good couple of hours. I will try it again though as I have heard some good comments about this place.

Affordable, tasty food and exceptional service… need I say more? Why yes… I’ll continue to rave. 2 Fat Indians, in the heart of Mt. Lawley(right next to Queens) is a place I’ll be frequenting. Every table was filled from 7 – 9 p.m. on a Friday. I definitely recommend reservations, especially on the weekend. We were seated promptly with them. The mood is certainly dressy, casual. The inside is beautifully done. Not something worth dressing to the nines(although, Perth loves to play dress-up). You’ll find all walks of life there, from couples, girls out, and families. I even saw a man come in shirtless, I didn’t keep my eye on him, but I hope he was kicked out(or, I might need to knock off a star). The food was good, I definitely won’t scoff at that, but it was the amazing service that I can’t stop going on about. Pleasant, smiling waitstaff ready to accommodate your needs. What?!? I know! Here in Perth?!? Gasp! Yes, waitstaff actually«WAITING» on you! By golly, the owner here just might be onto something. Manners, how far they go… clientele will keep coming back for more! Appetizer, three tasty entrees, two orders of flavored rice, three glasses of wine, and four beers came to a whopping $ 150.00. That’s a steal! And, if you bring your gold card, there is a $ 25 dollar off coupon in the book. Well-done. Well-done!

As far as an elegant mood goes in Indian dining; Two Fat Indians is up there with the best of them. The tall ceilings, chic gold ornamentation, the rush of Beaufort St. outside and some really fantastic alfresco dining; it’s all very well put together. The corny billboard ads however, completely undermine their sense of taste. The advertisements are so dim-witted and borderline offensive, that I’m going to have to penalize a star. Wasted Ad dollars aside, I really enjoy their succulent curries and snacks. My fellow diner begged to differ though so it’s a tug of war between three and four stars. Now if I take into consideration the not so cheap prices and fail to bleep out those silly ads form my memory, I’m gong to have to settle on a three star rating.

Reliable, reasonably priced Indian restaurant. First timers to the cuisine shouldn’t look past the Butter Chicken and Palak Paneer — winning dishes that will have you hooked on Indian for life. I find the menu fairly standard, it doesn’t push the envelope a great deal, which is kind of what I look for now in my Indian dining experiences. Does that make me sound like a douche? Sorry, I just love this cuisine so much I’m keen to explore other kinds of dishes, besides your Vindaloos you know? I should mention, one time I went here the service was really frustrating — they kept moving us to other tables and the food was slow to arrive. It could well have been a bad night though. I wouldn’t hold it to them.

I’m loving it loving it loving it. The lamb and goat curries in here are so smooth and tasty that your tongue adn your pallet will thank you for their treat and savour every last taste. Servings are pretty big so you could get one dish between two and gorge on breads such as the kheema naan and saffron rice if you wanted. The dal is stunning and its great to see a wide selection of vegetarian dishes. I got into the habit years ago of ordering veggie dishes in Indian restaurants because I felt you get more value for money and they are always so yummy, no exception here! One of the best Indians in Perth and now there are 2(the other is in Cottesloe).
