Ate dinner here for the first time last night. Absolutely delicious food. Weren’t tight on quantity at all. Great value for money. I would recommend giving it a try.

$ 8.90 lunch specials — Not a bad place to stop by at Randwick for a quick lunch. I tried the Pad See Ew with chicken. Happy to say that they are generous with the meat but the overall portion is a little small.(Was hungry again after 1.5 hour!) But i guess what do you expect for 9 bucks ! Taste was good. Will definitely come back again for lunch… if im not *super* hungry.

Meal ordered: Green curry with chicken + jasmine rice. Pros: 1) The food came out fast for a takeaway order– just a five-minute wait. 2) The green curry had a surprise kick of spice that was very subtle. It didn’t make me sweat but it added a great dimension of flavor. 3) Very nice ambiance inside the restaurant. Cons: 1) I had hoped that the pad thai was shellfish-free.(I know it’s too much to ask especially for Thai food.) Summary: A warm, filling, comforting meal with friendly, fast service. Not too shabby for my first meal ever in Australia. :-)

Pretty ok! These guys lean toward spicey over sweet, offer a nice atmosphere, and are clearly catering to the Uni student crowd with their mega portions. I tried the tom kah(good flavor, though light on non-water ingredients) and the green curry(supposedly the sweetest thing on the menu, but is more tangy and spicy than sweet). For my tastes, the flavors aren’t perfect, or perfectly balanced, but I would try them again to find a dish that suits as the food is solid and the portions are HUGE. One main and a soup can easily make a very filling meal for 2. Currys run about 12.50 and a bit less during lunch time.

Why Thai? Because it tastes so good. The menu at Why Thai is standard, but the food is great, I just went for a quick lunch and had a Pad Thai, which is served without prawns(just how I like it). The service is fast and friendly and the meal was delicious. The thing which was a bit different for Why Thai, was their fried rice selection, they offered Authentic, Ton Yum, Pineapple and Chilli Jam Fried rice., I will come back and try the Tom Yum fried rice, it looks interesting with egg, lemongrass, galangal, lime leaves, lemon juice, chilli and mushrooms. Also they have Brown rice(which I always like to see) and Garlic Rice(which I have not seen before). They could invest in some new tables, as their current ones are a bit old and battered, but the food was impressive enough to ignore the décor. Also they had a heater right in the middle of the dining area which was perfect as it was so cold.
