The food is incredible here! I’ve been four different times and try different tapas each time and they’ve all been great. As far as meals go, you MUST try the lamb. It is the best I’ve had! It’s great to pair with a nice wine and I always just ask the staff for a wine recommendation. They’re very helpful. The death by chocolate is the best way to end the night and their various cocktails are amazing(my favorite is strawberry field). The atmosphere at 5th element is lovely and I would highly recommend checking this place out!

Went to 5th Element per the suggestion of some locals when I was in Brisbane for work and mentioned my love for wine. Really liked the vibe of the place(nice but not pretentious) and enjoyed a few things from their tapas menu along with doing a tasting of their wine selection. They have a cool setup with the wine where you get a card and can try a taste, half glass or full glass of any of the wines they have«on tap». Made for a fun experience and I got to try a lot of wines I wouldn’t normally purchase at a restaurant. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back to this place the next time I’m in Brisbane!

We went to 5th Element for an anniversary dinner on a Saturday night. I was amazed at the quality of food and the amount of flavour they were able to produce in such simple dishes. I enjoyed the décor of the restaurant and the dim lighting really set an romantic mood. We had a wonderful waiter, who’s recommendations we were definitely thankful for! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone from couples, small groups to large dinner parties!

We stopped here on a Saturday night as a spot to have a few drinks while we waited for our table at a nearby restaurant. 5th a Element was already busy, as was most of the precinct, but they accommodated our group of five with ease. Our orders were taken quickly and drinks arrived soon after. Between our group beer, wine, Aperol and a Gin were ordered averaging about $ 10 a drink. Perhaps given we weren’t ordering from their cocktail menu we weren’t shown all the flair of this venue, but for a Saturday evening spot to kill some time it was perfectly adequate.

Love the food, changes seasonal so don’t be scared to try new things. Love the drinks especially the cocktails. Gotta try the zombie, it comes out on fire!

I once went to the 5th Element and had a pretty decent meal, albeit with large plates and small amounts of food. This week I went back to the 5th Element while I was at Southbank as part of the Brisbane Festival. Soutbank was pretty busy as were most of the restaurants along the Grey Street strip. When we got to The 5th Element, it was pretty quitet. We were taken to our seat and things started off pretty well, the staff were friendly and attentive and we placed our orders. This is where things started to go awry. We ordered from the tapas menu to start and when the food was delivered it was not too far off inedible. Of the four tapas style startes the croquetas were the only startes that were passalbe with the wort offenders being the duck spring rolls, the scallops and the meatballs, all were over cooked. Things went from bad to worse when the mains arrived with the pork belly being hard to eat, not very well presented and also over cooked and then went one step furthere when the mushroom risotto was presented and was inedible. After three small mouthfuls I gave up. Our servers also went AWOL somewhere between entrees and mains and it was hard to get anyones attention to complain about the food or get out bill. We eventually just paid at the counter and left without dessert It was not only the inedible risotto that left a bad taste in my mouth about this visit

We have been to this place twice. We went last night, we have espresso martinis Which I think are incredible. Their craft with making drinks is impressive! Love the water feature behind the bar and the flames around the place. Staff are engaging and friendly which is great! Xx Debra

Good food. Nothing that blew me away as a top-notch gourmet tapas experience, but it was good. Is it worth the high price tag, meh? The location is great and it is great for large groups, as long as you are a group of sharers. Just don’t be surprised when the bill comes.

It’s in a great location in South Bank, just never enough seats! Probably due to always being rainy when I go. Definitely book ahead if you’d like a table. 5th Element has a huge selection of drinks, you’ll flick through pages and pages of the menu for spirits, ciders, beers, wines, etc. One assumes cocktails as well. You can also eat here. Now I’m going to admit, nothing on the menu really grabbed my attention, and the prices were probably over the top. We were eyeing meals coming out of the kitchen and matching them up to the menu, quite often boggling over how small they were. They have main meals as well as tapas. I went with two tapas and a side of chips, and I’m glad I did. I would have come away hungry from one of the main meals. Oh, and the chips. One of only two places in Brisbane i’ve found that actually cut up potato and fry them rather than using frozen chips. Admittedly a main meal and then something extra to actually fill you up is going to hit the budget, but really, no more than going to maccas on the way home, only far more tasty. All that said, the food was delicious, and the staff were great.

I ended up at Fifth Element after a delightful night out at the theatre. We wandered in quite late — about 11pm — but were still able to order some breads with dips and some cheese. The service was impeccable, with our water glasses regularly being topped up and our bottle of bubbles being served to us by a very personable waiter. The lighting was dim and atmospheric, which increased the spectacle of the flames burning behind the bar. Our food was excellent and generously sized. Being Southbank, the number of guests was dwindling at that time of night and the bar closed disappointingly early. Aside from this, it was a lovely place to visit and I’ll be going back next time I’m on that side of the river.

Fifth Element Bar and Cellar is at the end of the super trendy and popular strip on Grey Street at South Bank and offers a superb collection of wines as well as a variety of other drinks at the bar. The uniqueness of the place is definitely in its wine tasting area. Purchase a card of whatever dollar value you wish, grab a glass and sample the many wines they have on offer. Just insert the card and hit the button over which amount you want to purchase, taste, half or full glass. You can get quite lost in the wine tasting section! But never fear, for those non-wine drinkers, there is a full bar to help you with your needs, I suggest a cocktail perhaps? The menu is pretty good! As is the food menu. There are some truly inspired dishes on both the dining and dessert menus. I will definitely be going back to try the duck! In all the ambience is great, the staff really know their stuff when it comes to the wines(I don’t, but what they were the telling the men next to me sounded pretty good!) and they are friendly as well. Definitely a place to start a night out or catch up over tapas with friends. Check it out.

The 5th Element is usually associated in my mind with the amazin’ sci-fi /action film of the same name. (90’s Bruce Willis was a long-term crush of mine.) …Sadly ‘ol brucey is not seated next to me tonight, BUT I am slightly heartened by the attentions of the wait-staff and the anticipation of an excellent meal. This small scale bar/dining place is out of the way and is tucked towards the end of little stanley st. The location means fifth element is ideal to enjoy a quiet dinner or to soak up the ambience of Southbank on a weekend. Although the mains were a bit out of reach for my modest purse strings. I did find the Tapas to be reasonably priced and pretty tasty. (Be sure to try the mixed olives, the wagyu meatballs OR the yummy spiced quail.) Well worth a pop-in when in the Southbank area, be sure to come in before the crowds on a weekend.

Although I’ve walked through the bar itself and think it looks very sophisticated and fancy with its fire and water features, my main experience has been with the Fifth Element Cellar. If you’re looking to buy someone a gift of the alcoholic kind, I wouldn’t go past these cellars. One of my friends is a real beer connoisseur and I found a great variety of European and Asian beers here that I’d never seen or heard of before. There is also a wide range of wines and spirits, many of which come nicely pre-wrapped depending on your budget. The beers I picked up were pretty pricey, but it was worth forking out the cash for something that’s rarely stocked in Brisbane and nicely packaged.
