So apparently Decks is gone? Unsure if it’s a rebranding or new owners, but The Shore has popped up where Decks used to be down at Southbank. This was an impromptu visit. Based on previous visits to Decks I thought we’d never get a seat, despite the restaurant being empty, but new sign, new menu, and welcoming staff proved me wrong. First of all, this place is sparse. The inside area has pretty much no tables, it’s more like a dance floor with some tables around the edge. I don’t know if that’s a permanent thing, if it was done for a function or maybe they just want to encourage people to eat outside. It was certainly a beautiful night for it with some nice views of the river. The menu is also a little sparse, but I don’t mind that so much. I can be overwhelmed by too many options on a menu. The prices were pretty reasonable too, and they have a specials menu. We were somewhat amused by the«White Whine Sangria» on the drinks specials menu. Our waitress was good natured and laughed when we asked her about it. All our servers were friendly, and there was just a nice vibe going on. Things got a little rowdy with some large family groups, but there were also couples on dates and everything in between. All are welcome. I went with a steak and seafood dish off the specials menu, and it was delicious. I’ll admit, I’d have liked my steak to be a little bigger, but there was plenty of seafood on top. I didn’t come away hungry. I’ve gone with a 3 star rating. I feel like there’s a change in the air and I’m going to have to come back once it’s a little more established.

I thought about being nice and giving it a two stars but I just can’t do it. I went to The shore restaurant on Friday night 12÷7÷13(date/month/yr) with my girlfriend. Walked in at 5:30PM and guess what? Food isn’t ready until 6PM. That’s okay… this is Australia, just kick back and wait for a bit. We paid $ 40 each for«Hot Buffet» It comes with everything without the seafood selection(extra $ 20). I maybe spoiled because I expect buffet to be fantastic when I pay $ 40. Last time I paid $ 40 for buffet was at The Buffet at Wynn in Las Vegas. I shouldn’t compare the US vs Australia but… The Shore restaurant I wouldn’t pay $ 20 to go to this place. I fell like I was at school cafeteria! Three different salad selection, 5 different kinds of meat and few other side dishes. Very very poor presentation of the food. Food were dumped in a steel tray. I was hoping that at least my meal was good but I expected way too much. Meats were way way way over cooked and tasteless. I think they were aiming not to get anyone sick before thinking about taste. Well good job on that one since I am not sick from the last night’s meal. Staff were friendly but they forgot to give us water and I had to ask for it. Service bad, staff friendly, food horrible and what else??? Oh yeah dessert! It was nice since they had some marshmallows. My girlfriend loves marshmallows. that is all. I wouldn’t go back unless they pay me to.
