I love that you can buy a range of interesting beans here and that there’s always new coffee gadgets and gizmos to fill a need you didn’t know you had. Go here to try something new when it comes to coffee — the menu had all the regulars but also newer techniques and flavours to try too. Very on tend ;)

A coffee lovers dream! I got the syphon coffee and as a black coffee drinker it was amazing– not many places in perth use extraction methods like this. I got a slice of raw caramel torte left me craving for more! Every time im in freo I will be here.

Great coffee and the muffins are huge. A bit tricky with kids as it’s right near a busy road and gets really busy. But good none the less. I’ll be back but without the kids.

This place is called Roasting Warehouse. It is in the former Freo Chocolate Factory, which is a former petrol station. Unlike similar outfits they insist on waiter service and when it gets busy queues form waiting for seating. After 35 mins waiting and going in twice we finally got a waitress. Just to be told the food may take a while… Not impressed. We knew this was a busy place, but at 8 am on a Sunday morning this is just bad management. The breakfast did taste nice when it finally arrived. Afterword: we did get our breakfast complimentary, after we pulled up the manager and complained. The service definitely needs some work here!

The sheer popularity, stylish fitout and buzzing ambience of the Roasting Warehouse promised so much. The café was busy but we were promptly seated at a share table and coffee orders were taken immediately. When a place is busy like this and I see the kitchen team working efficiently, pumping out an impressive number of covers, I am able to forgive the wait. Especially with a very tasty coffee made from beans directly sourced from free trade farms and roasted on site in hand. So wait I did. Unfortunately the food, at a cost of $ 16 – 23 a dish was lackluster for us. I had the three beans with poached eggs and babaganoush. There was no punchy hit of flavour in the beans, they were bland despite being jazzed up with a few tomatoes and roasted garlic. The flavours just didn’t permeate and the beans were a little hard. I love babaganoush but its subtle flavour didn’t help the dish out. My fellow diner had the potato rosti and again it lacked seasoning. I was disappointed because I could see the two chefs were working beautifully as a team. I’ll definitely try out lunch and hopefully I’ll be able to update this review with more food positives to match the highlights this place has.
