Starting with the good: Location and outdoor seating are really ideal on this pedestrian walkway right off of Rokeby Road. Meeting up with some old friends in town, it was a great spot to connect over lunch and then explore the shops. The bad: Unfortunately the food was relatively tasteless. Several of us ordered the chicken and avocado sandwich on sourdough bread served with an aoli but there was absolutely no flavor in the poached chicken nor the aoli. Portions were relatively large and prices reasonable if quantity over quality is your MO. The ugly: The service was not at all knowledgeable about the menu and did not follow-up on questions. First we asked about a high chair, the woman went to look for one and never came back. A separate woman followed up ~45 minutes later as we were finishing up asking if we still wanted one. The server also had no idea which beers were Australian which seemed surprising since it’s not a sprawling beer menu.

Such a cute and cosy café. Fantastic service and friendly staff. Perfect for a weekend chilled out brekky. Definitely well presented but not pretentious in anyway.

When I lived in the area, The Walk was the place we would go for Saturday or Sunday morning breakfast. Subiaco is so peaceful in the mornings. The Walk has a nice outside area under the umbrella’s or in the sun. A good breakfast menu with some healthy and hearty options. My partner often says that the best poached eggs he has had is from The Walk. I love the way they cook their mushrooms and often have the mushroom and feta toast dish. I also love the toasted flatbread which has chicken, avocado and a salsa sauce inside. It is one of the best places in Subiaco for breakfast and lunch.

This place has really pulled its socks up since I last remember it. Whats new? The people running it, apparently. Superb coffee and some really sophisticated lunches you shall find — creamy risottos, hand rolled parpadelle, gourmet burgers, salads and a dish or two from the sea. The Walk is really striking what many of the surrounding cafes are aiming for(and missing). Simple and stylish is the motto; for both food and décor. The classed up menu, table service and a wine list; definitely slot it into client lunch territory. I could also happily see my friends and I here for a posh* weekend brunch. I used to say ‘tried it once, tried it all’ of The Walk, but this time the food really gave me reason to revisit and find, what will the new season(onal menu) bring? *feeling groomed and not hungover.

The Walk Café in Subiaco is tucked away, just off Rokeby Rd. It is consistenly fresh and delicious. This is a great place to sit outside on a Saturday morning, read the paper and watch people go by. The staff are friendly and attentive. The french toast with marscapone, honey and berries for breakfast can not be faulted. Try the goat’s cheese soufflé with rocket and pear is out of this world. The coffee is hot and strong. The steak sandwiches are huge and tasty. I can also recommend the spaghetti with chilli and chorizo for those pasta lovers.
