The Tavern at Knox is more than just your typical drinking spot. It’s a great spot to meet up with friends for a game of pool, a meal or a few drinks. The food their is pretty okay, as are the prices. The price of drinks is also reasonable, which I suppose means you can drink more than you would elsewhere! The tavern also has a drive through bottle shop thats well stocked and open late.

This place has been there since alcohol was invented. I think it’s been more responsible for the mating of bogans, and therefore the subsequent birth of new bogan offspring at Knox than any other place. Sure, the Irish pub is catching up, but I don’t know if that’s got the staying power this place has. I’ve had more than one drink there. In fact, I don’t think that anyone who has ordered a drink there has ever stopped at one. In all seriousness, though, it’s a handy spot because the drive through bottle shop seems like it has longer trading hours than 7/11, it’s appropriately priced, the bistro is alright, and it’s a good bit quieter since the Irish pub opened. Not a bad place.

Ok, at risk of sounding like another alcohol obsessed teenager I am going to risk my reputation and say that my favourite part about the Knox Tavern is the drive in bottle shop. There. Tarnished forever — farewell dear reputation. But seriously, this drive through is fantastic. Read on for my reasons why: 1. It is somehow always open when I need it. 2. The prices aren’t cheap or expensive but somewhere in the middle 3. The staff here are totally awesome and friendly, always. 4. You don’t have to get out of your car unless you need to enter a pin to validate a card transaction Awesome right?! I know. Inside the tavern there are TAB facilities, pool tables, a giant TV screen playing fox sports and a bistro area complete with seniors meal deals. The bistro area and tables are always immaculately clean and well presented and the staff are well groomed and friendly. Maryse is one of the staff members there and she is always lovely. There is also a function room available here and I have been to so many events and parties here that I have lost count. It is a great little room with a corner bar and an outdoor area that is fenced off from the general public. The Bottle Shop is open from 10am-10pm Monday to Thursday, 10am-11pm Fridays and Saturdays, and on Sunday it’s open from 11am-8pm. The Bistro is open every single day of the week from 9am to 9pm except Saturdays when it is open until 9.30pm. The tavern itself can stay open much later depending on whether the function room is in use. Often it will be open late on weekends and friday nights as a result. This means the gaming room and pool tables will be open.
