This securely fenced dog park is absolute heaven for owners of well socialised but perhaps not entirely obedient dogs. It’s equally great for dog owners who like having a place to let their dogs run without fear of a humiliating picnic invasion. It’s not the prettiest dog park, and can be a total dustbowl in summer, but lots of trees, lots of dogs, some agility tunnels and easy access to water makes it lots of fun for dogs. Lots of shade, plenty of seating, a walking track and plentiful poo bags make it ideal for their owners too. Like with any place with lots of off lead dogs, there are occassional scuffles here. Most owners are extremely good about keeping macho dogs under control, but you need to know how to keep a level head and keep you and your dog safe if anything gets out of control. This applies to ANYWHERE your pups are playing freely with other pups.

The dog park is a sectioned off area of land in Whiteman park that is located at the end of the mussel pool east grounds. It is just to the side of the Werillyiup trail and serves as a great place to run free for many canine visitors. Not having a dog I wasn’t able to indulge in the full use of the facilities available but the five dogs that I did see there were having a great time. It may not be the beach but variety is the spice of life and the grass here with the trees to run around makes for a great play area. If you have a sociable dog that loves to get outdoors and just run, Whitemans dog park was made for them!
