Nice place with very good bagels. Always crowded and a bit expensive. Hard to find a table during the weekend

Nice little place that is more retro than hipster. This place was recommended by two different people so gave it a try. Was told the salmon bagel was supposed to be good(called Pink b for € 6.50) but I don’t prefer fish. Opted for a toasted sesame bagel with cream cheese(€ 3.70) — thry added their own spices to it and it was good. Chocolatte(€ 3.20)…still not sure if it jist chocolate on top or if there was chocolate in the latte. Definitely isn’t sweet, but that’s ok. Was served in a glass with no handles… a nice wool or knit around the glass would have been nice on my hands. :) This wasn’t a quiet relax and journal or read sort of place… had to move on in sesrch of something a bit quieter and laid back. :) Staff are nice. i failed to heed the cash only warning I saw on Unilocal and they said I could order then go get cash after. ;) a lot more plesant than losing my table and not having that hot coffee in me!

Great place, quiet, small, got a ‘pink b’ bagel — which was delicious. Also, protip: cash only.

Sunny day and we wanted to have lunch outdoors. After checking some of the reviews we decided to give Barnini a try, and we weren’t disappointed! Had to wait about five minutes for a table because the place was crowded. We ordered two ice gingers to drink. We ordered a chicken bagel with guacamole and a salmon cream cheese, and they were both very very good :) !!! So definitely a place to try… Be ready to wait a little bit for a table in rush hours… And enjoy yourselves a quick tasty lunch ;)

It feels like a hipster New York bagel shop. They serve bagels of various types, including lox. The music is rap from the late 80’s to early 90’s(many Brooklyn artists). The waiters talked to me about how they’ve enjoyed their trips to NYC. When in Rome I do as the Romans do but sometimes i miss home and try to find a place that makes me feel like I am back home. This place feels like being back in the US. It has it’s own Belgian twist as well, the milk chocolate menu is extensive and delicious. Bagels and milk chocolate are a combination better experienced than conceived. The servers are young urban types, really nice too. You can’t expect the constant checkups and immediate responses type of service from the US in Europe but with Belgian expectations their service is excellent.

I wish I had opted to dine-in. When I arrived at Barnini, all of the seating looked so cozy. You have tables for two people, four people, plus nice couches and comfy chairs. Everyone was enjoying delicious looking drinks and bagels. I ordered my two bagels to-go — the Bagel Chick and the Bagel Deli. All of the reviews rave about the bagels, but really they’re just okay. Maybe I’m a bit spoiled because of my visits to New York and the huge availability in general in America. I don’t think the bagels at Barnini are made fresh each morning. Bagels should not taste that dry. At least the Bagel Chick had a guacamole mayonnaise, but my husband wasn’t so fortunate with the Bagel Deli. And if you’re a bagel café, how can you only serve one type of bagel? If I were rating Barnini just on its bagels, I would give 3 stars. But my rating includes the ambience, which for me adds an extra star. Even though the bagels are average, I would love to go back for a coffee and pastry(the cakes and pies looked great) for breakfast or in the afternoon with a friend because the place is so gezellig.

So i found out about barnini through ‘12hrs’, a blog that guides you trough cities in 12 hours. It indeed isnt easy to find… Well i’m not a mapmaster myself so it took us about 25 minutes to find, lol. It would’ve been easier if we took the tramway to nationale bank, so, take that if you can. The interior looks a little retro, the music is retro too and the whole feeling was very cozy and pretty. I was positively surprised by the super nice staff, the waitress helped us pick out the drinks and food because there was no english menu card. I ordered the ‘bar titty’ which is a latte that has marshmallows coated with chocolate on top of it, the whipped cream was a little too sweet but it was yummy, and my mom had a coffee and liked it a lot. Then i ordered the ‘pink b bagel’ which has salmon on it, and my mom had the honey bagel with brie and honey on top of it. My bagel was SO good, i usually don’t like dill but there it was just right. Iy ha to be exactly the way it was. And let me tell you, i’ve eaten new york bagels so i know what a good bagel is. :) this bagel had a lot of cream cheese on it, which i personally like. It was heavy so i did take away for the rest of it. My mothers bagel had brie cheese AND cream cheese so it was really filling, but she loved it. I would totally recommend coming here… Thats the kind of coffee shop that is perfect for tourists who dont want to be just like every other tourist

Very friendly staff. Bagel is delicious, and also the carrot cake. It is like a living room, with everyone very very friendly and cosy to stay and have a chat. Although… at rush hour it can be crowded. But the food still comes fast and really tasty. Very inventive menu :)

I can say I’m in love with this little gem, with it’s vintage look, changing art work on the walls, the lovely service and all the great stuff I order! Lattes, charming teas, bagels, cake(just order, don’t fret), soup of the day, it keeps coming! Get off the beaten track and endulge yourself in some cosiness :).

Barnini has been my hub for a few months when I was waiting to get internet at home. I especially enjoy it in the morning for breakfast or just to get a cup of tea while browsing on my laptop. They also organise regular exhibitions making the place a lively environment.

Barnini is on the Theaterplein and is hidden between all the other bars and restaurants on this big square. It’s rather hard to notice and its style is significantly different than other eating houses or bars here. Barnini is one of the many(many many) coffee bars in Antwerp. They chose for a retro design with lovely decorations on the wall and all kinds of different chairs. On their menu you can find the usual lattes and cappuccinos but they do have original names such as macho, King Louie, Dalmatian… Which is really cute! If you are a tourist and you go shopping, this is actually a good place to go for lunch. If you don’t want to go to overcrowded places around the Meir or Wapper, just continue a little more and enjoy one of their delicious looking bagels(haven’t tried them yet) Furthermore I must say, take a look at their facebook page(Barnini) to check out some beautiful pictures of their artworks!
