Breakfast: coffee is good and breakfast was basic but tasty. It was a little expensive for what we got but the service was excellent.

Giving even one star is generous. To start: the service was horrendous, it took an hour and a half to get our food out, and half of our meals were cold. Only one out of six people in our group actually slightly enjoyed her meal. Most of us didn’t even finish. Everything was either over or under-seasoned. When we were done, it took another 20 minutes to get our check and even then we had to ask for it. The staff wasn’t friendly or accommodating at all. If you’re looking for a good meal, I would stay away from this place.

My boyfriend and I came here in the afternoon for a quick bite. He had the pulled pork benny and I had the yorkies with roast beef. We were both very pleased with our meals and the service was fantastic. Super chill atmosphere and awesome classic music rock music. We will definitely be back.

I love me a diner breakfast, lunch or dinner, so when I was walking into the downtown stretch of Banff peckish, this place screamed my name. Evelyn. Come get something salty. I had the broccoli cheddar bites and their house-made chicken noodle soup. Were they salty? Heck yes. Is this an order built for a five year old? Don’t judge me. My buddy got a BTL add cheese and was very pleased they mayo-ed both sides. Obviously, always a good call. Is this place fancy? No. Can you get your diner fix here for cheaper than most places in Banff? Hell yes.

We went to Bruno’s three nights during our week in Banff, including New Years. The staff is friendly, the drinks are good and cheap, the food was also satisfying. Would recommend to anyone.

I actually give between 2 and 3 stars for Bruno’s. The service was friendly but slow — typical for Banff and I think they were understaffed. We came in around lunch and there was a large group of 20-somethings having brunch near us and they were really loud. Not much the business can do about that but be aware it’s that kind of place. The food was okay — I initially ordered butter chicken but apparently it wasn’t ready yet, so I had the chicken quesadilla and asked for guac on the side. I’m pretty sure both the salsa and the guac came from a store and were not made in house. The quesadilla itself was good but honestly the guac was terrible and for an extra $ 2 I expect more than what appeared to be green sour cream. I think this place would be a great place to go and have a pint and some pub food in the evening but I’m not sure I’d go back for lunch.

I came in and was greeted by one of the owners right away, I told that to grab a seat anywhere. I looked around at the collective mix of Rocky regulars and weekend tourists and knew this place was the perfect spot for breakfast… and to cure that mild mountain hangover. I also realize that there is some serious Toronto Maple Leaf love in this bar! Leaf’s jerseys hanging on the walls and all… There are a handful of tables outside for the summer dining and sighting. Three flat screens over the bar playing different games. Seating up at the bar as well as lots of tables. Breakfast sure does not come quick; it was well over half an hour from order to eat… So this might not be your best choice if you are in a hurry. However if you do have the time, the pulled pork skillet I had was very tasty. The hash browns were cooked to the point of total crunchiness(which I actually like, but I think were probably not supposed to be that overcooked) The pulled pork was tasty and juicy, though I wish there was a bit more of it. And the eggs on top of the skillet were perfect! Which too often is not the case. So thank you whom ever was in the kitchen. The waitress was very nice and apologized for the wait. It was a busy weekend, so I do understand. However aren’t all weekends in Banff crazy busy? All in all, I would definitely recommend Bruno’s for breakfast and a beer(or if you are from the«T-dot» and need to get a little Leafs fix on!)

Mac and cheese burger is fantastic. Eggs Benny not so much. Two different days two different cooks. Service was great. I’ll be back for burgers but will skip the breakfasts.

Bruno’s is one of my regular stops when I’m in Banff, it has a laid back atmosphere and serves a great breakfast. I have always enjoyed the service as they really don’t get in your face but always ask if you want more coffee or water. The breakfasts are great, it really is like having a good home-cooked breakfast and the prices are reasonable. I enjoy the quiet in the mornings but there is always a possibility that they may have a live band playing(yes even in the morning) which can make it quite loud and difficult to hold a conversation with who you’re there with. All in all though — one of my favourite restaurants in Banff!

I love Bruno’s. I always make a point to stop by when I’m in Banff for work or pleasure for breakfast, though I’ve never gone during the evenings. But delicious all day breakfast at reasonable prices, friendly staff and a great location– who could ask for more?

We stopped into Bruno’s for lunch today on our way out of Banff. We just wanted a no-frills, easy experience and it seemed to fit the bill. Service: There was a waitress serving the majority of the restaurant who was just great. For this type of place, the easy charm and relaxed atmosphere are a big part of the appeal. I watched her draw a smile out of almost everyone she talked to while moving among the tables filling water and taking orders. Food: As expected, the food was very«what you see is what you get,» and not in a bad way. My husband enjoyed his burger, and I had a chicken wrap that was also good with a side salad. Other: I suppose to be expected from a bar/restaurant, the washrooms were seriously skeevy. Try not to touch any surfaces if you can — at least the garbage can is close to the door so you can gingerly open the lock by way of a paper towel. It’s a small place, so expect to be pretty«cozy.»(There was always a big crowd of people at the long table in the center, so it got noisy, but it was fine). They’ve got TVs mounted at either end so we saw some Olympic action while we ate. Value: The bill for the two of us was $ 37 for two entrees and some tea for me. Everything is pretty expensive in Banff, but we enjoyed our lunch.

We went to Bruno’s for the first time back in December 2011 and had a very pleasant experience. The staff was friendly, the service was great and the food was WONDERFUL! However, we recently went again and although the staff was still friendly I was not impressed with my food at all. I ordered the eggs benedict both times and there was a significant difference. This time my eggs were on their way to being scrambled(someone had popped my yolks but continued to cook them) and not to mention they were very small. All that was on top of my back bacon was the popped, cooked yolk. No egg around the yolk. The hash browns were pretty scarce as well. The first time we were there, they brought out a plate of food with real eggs benedict, loads of hash browns and fruit, this time it was smashed eggs and a few hash browns. I’ve recently read that Bruno’s is under different management and I can tell. We thought this would be our to-go-to breakfast joint when we’re in Banff but I think we’re going to have to continue our search as we won’t be back there. Cheap beer and drinks tho

Bruno’s is unpretensious. What you see is what you get. The food is excellent, the prices are good, and they often have live music. Underrated and a little off the beaten(Banff Ave) path, Bruno’s is great for a hangover breakfast/lunch. Go!

Bruno’s came recommended by hotel staff and I must warn that it is not a delightful experience — neither from a culinary standpoint nor from a service standpoint. CULINARYEXPERIENCE Let me start by saying that I didn’t go to Bruno’s for a high end breakfast experience. I ordered a simple breakfast — Two eggs, over medium with sausage, potatoes and English muffins — here is what was served. — Eggs came fried to rubber — Sausage had no flavor — Potatoes were so old that they were crisp on the outside but dust on the inside — English Muffin — probably the best tasting part of the meal but it was not even toasted properly SERVICE I Had to get up to get the menus, to find the coffee pot to refill our beverages and to find the wait staff to get our bill so we could pay for the over-priced meal. I recommend finding another place all together to find breakfast in Banff.

perhaps it was the hype from the Unilocal reviews, but we were totally unimpressed with the breakfast at Bruno’s. First off, they didn’t open until 9 am which for breakfast seemed late. We had to walk around for 10 min. to kill time. The scrambled eggs were dry and flavor-less. The home fries were the square equivalent of french fries, so hard to go wrong there. If you’re looking for a warm, cozy American breakfast spot. this isn’t it. It felt like the service and the kitchen was nursing one big hangover.

Bruno’s is one of my favorite places in Banff and home to the best breakfast in town. Named after local legend, photographer and mountaineer Bruno Engler, the cozy restaurant/pub features photos of Bruno and his work on the dark walls. Bruno’s is one of the few places in Banff that doesn’t feel like it’s trying to appeal to tourists, but is rather it’s own laid back self. There always seems to be a good mix of locals and tourists. The atmosphere is comfortable with wooden walls, a fireplace, bar and a pool table. It is open from 7am — 2am, but I have only ever been here during the day. Breakfast is served until 5pm and offers omelettes, bagels, French toast, bacon, sausages and more. I quite enjoy the Sunrise bagel, which is a bagel topped with an egg, bacon, cheese, lettuce and tomato. The only thing Bruno’s is missing for breakfast is pancakes! They have a nice, creative selection of hamburgers, pizza and pub food. As the evening rolls on Bruno’s becomes more of a bar, but I have yet to go there at night. No matter what time of day, I strongly suggest paying Bruno’s a visit while you’re in Banff. They also have a computer with internet access for $ 1 for 10 minutes, $ 2 for 20 minutes.
