I came with my family to this restaurant today and we loved it! We ordered the Shanghai pork buns which were super juicy and tasted fresh Next up was the salt and peppery squid, it was really tender and the flavour was just right(my dad loved it) Following was the diced chicken with cashew nuts, the chicken was really soft and the dish was just spot on Lastly we ordered the eggplant with garlic cilantro, it was the best I’ve ever tasted I would definitely recommend this restaurant because the food here is no doubt above average and the staff was attentive and friendly! Not to mention the big portions and reasonable prices :)

Love this restaurant, the food is good, service is friendly. Price is reasonable. We ordered Peking duck that was made into 3 dishes and it was only $ 42 for all 3 which included the wraps with the Peking duck skin, cabbage wrap with the duck meat, and a soup made with the rest of the Peking duck bones. All very delicious!

Today i have a interview around, and i just find this place. I decide to try it and find it is definitely not a one star restaurant. They make perfectly Tianjin style food. The Chinese noodles and rices here is pretty good. I will recommend people to come.

Can’t recommend this ‘palace’. The food is not up to par, its on the level of slightly better home cooking. Décor in the place was done on the cheap and lacks style and quality. Wait staff is inattentive and distracted — I really don’t want to see people hauling garbage through the dining area during my meal. Ordered 3 dishes: chicken hot pot — turns out its not«singing» chicken. Its basically msg soup with chicken, bamboo shoots and fungi. beef and gai pan — beef was overcooked and hard, they used the cheap cuts. Sauce was pretty much oyster sauce and oil. deep fried squid — batter was too thick and the pieces were also cut too large. They went cheap on the chilli/onion/etc spicing so the dish lacked taste. Price was on the high side, ~$ 10/dish. No value for money.

My first time dining there and it will be my last… Absolutely terrible. and no one speak English besides the owner/manager… First I ordered from a dish that’s pictured in their menu(it was the house special shanghai noodle) and what arrived at my table was not even close to what was in the picture… It was made with thin noodles and had just veggies no beef. The dish in the picture had think shanghai noodles with beef. When I told the server, she said that’s «just a picture» this is the actual dish… And tries to argue with me by saying this is how it’s made and the dish in the picture is just a picture… Long story short. This is a horrible restaurant I would never go back again and would not suggest anyone to go there

* SWING and a miss… * Crystal Palace replaced Tasty Village at the same location and apparently the same owners/staff. My review for Tasty village was good, I quite liked it and said optimistically that this COULD be a 4 star place: I’m sad to report that they have taken a different direction, one that will probably be reason for another name change or owner pretty soon. Based on my Tasty Village review, the prices have jumped up and the food has cliff dived. — I am NOT a fan of the Reverse Psycology business model — Those amazing hand-made juicy pork dumplings are now just the heat-from-frozen variety — NO more soup to drink! and they are tiny… AND they cost more. The green onion pancakes were my favourite in the city, now relegated to the«T&T frozen» category. I’m sad, but it’s ok — I won’t be back.
