5 stars for Crush? Hellz yeah! This place just got better after my Saturday night dinner there with my best friend’s mom. She was staying with me this weekend for a course and we headed to Crush on Saturday night for something close by and still yummy. The special on Saturday right now is ½ price burgers if you order a drink. Well, who’s going to say no to a drink on a Saturday?(Note: Not sure if this applies to all sandwiches or just the two actual burgers on the menu). We went with the chicken burger and the grilled burger and we each picked a different side. Our intention was to split the burgers and the sides since we wanted to try each. While we didn’t say this directly to our server, we did mention it in front of her. About 15 minutes later or so(I wasn’t counting, but it was quick in food land time), out come our burgers. Actually, out come two plates with two sides on each and two burger halves. Our server asked the kitchen if they would split the burgers for us from the get go. They didn’t just bring us a knife to cut them in two, oh no, they cut them in two and put them on our plates for us already… and THEN, they split up our sides for us so we each had a smaller bowl of edamame beans and fries. Onto the food itself, the burgers were both delightfully delicious. The beef one was a charbroiled patty that my best friend’s mom couldn’t get over, «I don’t remember the last time I had a real charbroiled burger in a restaurant,» I believe were her words. And the veggie burger? Why, I think I enjoyed that even more than the beef burger! It was a veggie patty with a portobello mushroom, arugula and aioli. Yummers! That’ll do, Crush. That’ll do :).

Crush is an interesting establishment on 12 Avenue right across the street from Meineke. Interesting because it has a modern almost club-like look, but it feels more like a pub. I sat at the bar on Saturday night around 11:00pm and there were not many people here. I don’t know why because I thought it was a fine place. My drink and meal consisted of a Brew Brothers Black Pilsner and the Spolumbo’s Rosse penne. The bartender(who may of also been the owner) was nice enough to tell me that the Guinness I originally ordered would probably not of come out correctly because of a problem with the tap. And after a good conversation about which beer might suite my taste we settled on the BBB Pilsner. I appreciated the time he took to figure out what might be the best drink for me. The Spolumbo’s Rosse Penne was delectable. The sausage really gave it a local taste. Made me think about the last time I went to Spolumbo’s. Another interesting ingredient of the dish was sour cream. I have never had it with pasta before and though it was ok. It did serve to successfully cool the dish which was quite hot when I got it. It also worked to cool the spiciness of the sausage which might be great for those with milder tastes. All in all, I like this place and will be back soon.

My wife’s favorite place for salad and atmosphere. I do have a hard time finding food that I like there…

I usually go to Crush a few times a year, and admittedly, what I enjoy most about Crush is the ambiance. It is never empty… it is rarely packed, and it is hard to not relax in its atmosphere. The colors are dark and rich and the dim lights just make you want to chill out and hang. Also, they sell my FAVORITE wine by the glass… J. Lohr Seven Oakes. Its a fairly popular wine, but for some reason, it seems to be tough to find by the glass. So an extra star for that! They also served a few beers from Wild Rose Brewery, so they obviously support other local businesses. Another star for that! The martinis I have had in the past, but I have not indulged this time. I always enjoy checking out their martini menu, but for me, the J. Lohr will win every time. :) The menu has a nice variety. The last few times I have gone, I have ordered the cobb salad, hold the cheese and hold the bacon. It comes with a lime honey dressing that I just love. The yam fries was so large I was shocked! I am a huge fan of yam fries and have ordered them almost everywhere. For $ 7.50, I was blown away by the large portion. Thanks Crush ;) My friend ordered the veggie burger and was very, VERY impressed! It was piled high with toppings, including a very, VERY generous helping of avocado(which was ordered as a side option). Whenever I go to Crush, I wonder why I don‘t go more often. It is a very nice place, and even though it is far from undiscovered, I love that I can make a spontaneous decision to go in there, and they always have a seat.

Lord give me strength… the hamburgers are to simply die for! *swoons* I just recently moved downtown and this place is a block from my apartment so a friend and I decided to stop by for lunch after a full previous night of tequila *shudder*. We both ordered a Crush Grilled Burger each. You can add mushrooms, avocado, onions and/or your favorite cheese. It comes with a side of fries, regular or yam(with a spicy dipping sauce!). The burger arrived and it was HUGE! The mushrooms and cheese falling off the sides… pure heaven in my eyes. We gobbled down our burgers and in between bites and breaths we commented on how yummy they were! They were juicy and seasoned perfectly. The extra toppings made it just awesome! The burger was $ 13 and toppings were $ 2 extra each. It was a higher price for a burger, but it was WAY worth it. It calmed our poor hungover tummies/heads and we are now going there for our monthly burger fix(minus the hangover). I have yet to try any of their other food since now i’m jaded and can only dream about their burgers, but I WILL try to pick something different next time… try .only try. The service was fine for my taste, but we were busy chatting and the place wasnt that full when we were there. The atmosphere was cozy and chill. I’d love to go back with a group of people .say for my birthday! ooh good idea! You can download their menu on their website:

Decent food, decent service, but somehow missing the mark a bit. I went here because of a LivingSocial deal. Twice. The second time we went, the service was great. She knew we were new customers(because she asked), which I liked. As a marketing-type person, I like when I can see people are trying to measure their results. All in all, I don’t really have a specific complaint, but I probably wouldn’t go back. If the food was of the same quality but there were MORE items on the menu that appealed to me, I’d probably put it on my list of places to go when I needed somewhere to eat. BUT, they have good beer. And I don’t like beer… wait… maybe that means they have TERRIBLE beer? No, I think it’s good beer…

The service was great here when I dropped by in the evening, and the atmosphere casual. There were TVs all over the place, making it ideal to catch a game. When I went last, I couldn’t help but chuckle at the music selections; it seemed like they weren’t playing anything that was released later than 1990. Combined with the food offerings, it made it really difficult for me to nail down the theme of the place. If I had to describe the menu, I’d call it Asian inspired, if not fusion-based. I had the wor-won ton soup, and while the portion was large, the broth was a little spicy. But it was still good. If you’re gluten intolerant though, I’d probably avoid this place; other than the edamame beans and possibly the curry fries, not much on the menu is gluten-free. However, I’d probably come back again myself in the future to try out the lunch menu or other items on their dinner menu. The atmosphere is very cozy, making it a great place to visit with a group of friends.

Service was hard to find at times, but friendly and helpful when at the table. The food looked great and was quite tasty! Good house brew too.

The service is good. I stopped here briefly for a Unilocal social event. The atmosphere is relaxed. I felt at home. I was here so briefly that I can’t comment on the food or drinks. I think that since Unilocal hosted an event here it must be worthy trying. The servers were super friendly and came to the table often. I can only comment on the service at this time.

A little Beltline secret. The beer is good, and comes quickly. The décor and food is very nice, but because it is off te beaten track, nobody really seems to know about it.

Casual and cool. Overall pretty yummy food(the Club Sandwich is a winner). They consistently have slow service, so just be ready for that.
