Ocean Nails and Spa

I have found this salon to be clean and friendly. I have had a few services: nail shellac, waxing and a facial. They are professional and know what they are doing.
I would recommend making an appointment. Although they open at 9 am they book quickly. The only way I can walk in and find an opening is early in the morning and for one services such as a mani or eyebrow wax.
I have been to numerous salons in Boston, Toronto and Calgary. I would rank these folks a 3 out of 5 on that scale for atmosphere, level of service, etc. but for Calgary they get top marks for price, comfort of salon, manners, speaking English, and the staff really like what they do! If you want a top-​notch experience, you have to go to a spa!

I started coming here because of a friend. They do such a lovely job on eyelash extensions! Especially for the price you pay compared to other spots! Not only is the end result beautiful they are very gentle and don’t hurt compared to other places.
I drive all the way from the SW because I simply won’t go anywhere else anymore.

I started going here to get my nails done in February, was pleased with the girl who was doing my Fills and Pedicures. I went there in May and was told about a new procedure called Gel Dip so I decided to try it, was very happy. The next time I want to get a Fill done I was told taht the manufacturer had recalled the product because too many people were having reactions, I told them I loved it and to keep any remaining product for me. The girl who did my fill this time is the Owners wife and she did such a horrible job., I asked her to redo 2 of my nails because they were so bad. She did redo them but not much better. I usually can go 3 to 4 weeks in between fills but after 1 week my nails were so bad, (broken) that I had to go back. I called and spoke with the owner and explained that I was not happy with the Fill that had been done and wanted to go back to Acrylic instead of the Gel Dip. I went in this morning and have never been treated so rudely in my life. I was told that they did not do Acrylic Nails anymore because the health Inspector said they couldn’t!!! that the only reason she was doing mine was because I already booked the appointment. She said that I would have to get the Gel nails next time, I can not wear the Gel because of an allergy to a chemical they contain. She said that wouldn’t happen there, yeah right!!! I will never go back there. There are way too many Nail Salons in Calgary for someone to have to put up with being treated so rudely!

I have recently started coming here to get my eyelash extensions done and my oh my do they do a wonderful job. There are a few eyelash technicians that are very soft spoken and can barely speak English so it made it kind of hard on my first visit on picking an eyelash length, also I had no clue about extensions. Other than that though the lashes are extremely affordable, $ 80 for a full set and around $ 40 for a fill. I love my lashes and they last me just over 4 weeks! I highly recommend coming here for eyelash extensions.

I really like this place. The décor is lovely, the massage chairs are fantastic and the price really can’t be beat. I’ve gone to this nail salon at least a half dozen times now and I’ve yet to be disappointed.

Like so many people, I had a Groupon which was how I came to try this place. I called on a Saturday and they had time to take me later that day. I arrived about 15 minutes early and they were able to start my pedicure. The salon has the big comfy massage chairs with the foot bath. What was different this time is the foot bath part was made of this cool looking transparent colored plastic. Each was a different color: red, blue, green, orange. It was quite unique.
The lady doing my pedicure was quite friendly but spoke little. I sat there enjoying the massaging chair and watching this ocean video they had playing on the big tv on the wall. I brought my own polish which they were ok with. The girl did a semi-​ok job of my toes. She didn’t go back to clean up any polish she got on my toes which I thought was a bit unprofessional.
Next, time for the manicure. This was started while my toes were drying. Then I was brought over to the manicure area to a lady who spoke almost no English so chatting with her was useless. I chatted with the crazy client sitting next to me. This lady did a bad job of filing my nails making them uneven and lop-​sided. A child could have done better. Then for the polish. Yikes what a mess. There was polish on the sides of my fingers and she never bothered to clean it off. One of the worst manicures I ever had. I don’t know if this lady was new but she sucks at doing manicures. I will not be returning here ever even if I had a groupon. It’s not worth my time.
