For me, a good cocktail bar is defined not only by the cocktail menu(duh!) but also by the ambiance. PRLR Lounge provides this with its relaxed and laid back vibe. I got to try the Tartin Tai(there was an odd after taste with each sip, but as the alcohol started to kick in, I stopped noticing that there was an after taste) and the Fleur 75(refreshing and light). I was lucky enough to snag one of the window seats staring out onto the streets to «people watch». One of the downsides of being situated in these private areas is that sometimes servers can tend to forget about you. This luckily didn’t happen to me. My server was very attentive, and showed this by constantly coming back to check up on my friend and I. This isn’t to say that she was pushy either. Good service and an interesting list of cocktails. I will definitely return.

Delectable drinks in a most delightful space. PRLR has been on the drinks list for a while, so when I got an invite to join some great people how could I say no. Happy I went. This place is decked out really well and has a great seating area at the back. Negative: Lighting could be a little brighter but always feel that way in darkened bars. More negative: I could only stay for 2 drinks and wasn’t able to try anymore! Tried the Fluer 75 with gin + champagne + honey. Lovely light and refreshing. Also only 1oz of liquor so good for a less boozy option. Next was the After School Snack with cognac + rye + raspberry liquor + peanut butter. Delicious! I am not a fan of the first 2 alcohols but this was quite delightful. 2.5oz of booze in this one. Didn’t try any of the snacks but they sounds good. Will have to get some when we try some more cocktails. Love the space, and the seating area is really well done. Was quite surprised how much seating there was to the back area. Industry Sunday they have specials on Manhattans, Martinis and Negroni. You can also have the space at the back for private parties — would be great for a Bachelors/Stag… ask the bartender for more details on why.

sultry and sexy room featuring small bites and craft cocktails. This is an amazing addition to Kensington. The paper plane cocktail was my drink of choice tonight– a blend of Bourbon, Aeperol, and Amaro. sensational. The tomato braised green beans were so fantastic I almost licked the plate clean

Even after only stopping in once– by accident mind you, it’s safe to say that this place has already become a new favourite. I am exuberant about the fact that Kensington finally has a place that’s as sexy as it is polished. The space has an interesting IKEA-meets-speakeasy aesthetic, and throughout the evening I came to learn that nearly all the décor had come from around town. Alex, the bartender who stirred and shook magic before my eyes was absolutely lovey. He was very personable and made honest food and drink recommendations. Alex and I also had the opportunity to chat about the future of the lounge, which is when I met PRLR’s jolly, sweater-clad owner. Behind his well-kept moustache I could see a man with a love for people, art and the cocktails that fuel them. I am excited to see what this place brings to Kensington, and I genuinely believe that it will soon become one of Calgary’s favourites.

A new kid just moved in down the street and they’re the same age as me! That new kid is PRLR, and we’re gonna be best friends! And like you’d get excited about a new best friend, who you want to play with all day. Even though they’ve only been open for about a week now, I’ve made a solid attempt at drinking my way through their menu. What did I learn? That I need to go back their again! Their custom cocktails are so exciting that I wanted to try them all. Unfortunately that makes it really hard to review them afterward. There was this one that tasted like hickory smoke and maple that was a real standout. It’s definitely the most interesting in a while. And I mean interesting in the kind of way that«hell yeah, I’ll be having more of these in the future,» not in that way that your friend’s ugly boyfriend is «interesting.» Located at the intersection of Kensington and 10th Street where my old best friend, The Source Skateboards and Snowboards, used to live, PRLR brings creative drinking to Kensington and a new voice to Calgary’s cocktail scene. While I feel like Calgary’s cocktail game is still in its infancy, I’m beyond pleased that PRLR(from here on spelled«Parlour» because unlike PRLR, I think vowels are kickass) didn’t go with a Prohibition Speakeasy theme. High-five for bringing something new to the table, Parlour! I mean, they’ve still got fake ornamental animal heads on the walls, but they’re are a classy looking glass, a step above the corrugated cardboard heads. Parlour will be a great cocktail joint for anything from a romantic 1:1 date night to a night out with a group. Whether or not you’re romantic with that whole group, well that’s up to you. There’s a good amount of bar seating, which is the most fun if you’re interested in cocktails, because you get to see the bartenders work their magic. If you’re a group of two, try grab one of the two window nooks at the front. You’ll still get to see the bartenders in action and also people watch along one of Kensington’s busiest intersections. Watching traffic is fun. Stoplight are hard! The back area is great for groups, with large comfortable booths. If you’ve got a very large group it looks like it can even be sectioned off as an event space.
