I have been here a few times now, and each time the customer service is non-existent. Only this time, it was 1:30pm on Thanksgiving Monday and for the first time, the sales associates outnumbered the customers and somehow, despite standing around and looking for someone to be available for help, I still managed to be ignored! Instead, this is what I saw: 2 cashiers(with only one person paying, and nobody in line), 3 associates in the perfume section chatting, 1 lady coming out, then going back into the back room with a coffee(assuming she was actually on break), 2 at the Beauty Studio actually helping clients and 1 lady with a clipboard telling another associate to go on her break. I timed it: 11 minutes actually waiting for someone to help and when I finally asked one of the ladies standing around in the perfume department, she couldn’t have looked more annoyed, and the help was provided reluctantly and to the bare minimum. Ive never had bad service at a Sephora, even in the busiest, most chaotic of stores, so this store is definitely an exception to what is normally a very customer-friendly chain.

This Sephora is located 15 min walk from my place, but I will still drive to the location at Chinook or shop online so I don’t have to go to the one at the Core. The one time I actually needed help, I walked up to a group of 4 sales associates chatting in the middle of the store. I asked a question as to which product is better, and they all stared at me like they didn’t work there. After a pause, one of them came and helped me. The product I decided on was out of stock, and instead of offering to order it online or check other stores for stock, she said I should just buy the other product and return it if I don’t like it. I clearly could tell she couldn’t wait to be done helping me, so I said sure and bought the product. Needless to say I hated it and had to come back to return it. If you guys didn’t know, Sephora throws out everything that has been returned, so this girl could have saved this product from being tossed if she wasn’t so careless. The girls also give me a hard time every time I need to return something. I’m only returning it because your sales associates are useless.

The staff are unenthusiastic and have limited product knowledge compared to Chinook and Market place. Like all sephora they insist on hovering over and walk you through the shopping process but the girl I had today had super basic recommendations that were nothing more then obvious. To top of it off, the product I decided on, the girl sent me out with the one that we beside out. Now I have to go back and exchange it — super inconvenient Never shopping at this location again — major thumbs down

If you have read my other reviews you know I basically live at Sephora! In fact, I was only at this location strategically because I figured the other locations would be nuts on Black Friday. Sadly, I was mistaken, it was a squirrel’s dream here too!(Get it? So nuts.) Despite being super busy, Sephora was fully staffed to deal with the bargain shoppers and the regulars. I was greeted promptly. When I had a question there was staff on hand to help. This is why I am religiously at Sephora, and suffer from a crippling addiction to makeup! The location is smaller than Chinook Centre and Market Mall but they still have most of the items– which is awesome! I will definetly be back.

What I like about Sephora is their refund policy. If you don’t like a product, return it, no questions asked. I bought some product that reacted poorly with my skin. A week later, I brought the kit back and got a full refund. This takes the risk out of buying new product. Customer service is always stellar, a pleasant surprise in Calgary. No offense, but in retail, I find excellent customer service is not the norm, so kudos to Sephora for providing that extra TLC for their customers. Though the kit didn’t work out for me, I have no hesitation buying anything from Sephora again. I’ll be back for my Bumble and Bumble product and other things that catch my fancy.
