Super Loonie Store

Jam packed in an almost forgotten land known as Kingland Plaza, there lies a lonely little unassuming little Dollar Store called Super Loonie Store.
Owned by an older couple, it’s a fairly decently stocked to the rafters with all the usual stuff; basic electronics, cookware, souvenirs, balloons and party stuff, and so on. I also noticed the odd thing from other great deals from other stores (like Staples) and then marked up. It’s not exactly the second coming of merchandising, but neither is it some place to just up and forget. They’re handy, as you never know when you might need something from a few disposable aluminium pans to suddenly make a mini bacon explosion to blindfolds and good strong rope for 50 Shades of… er… let’s just say rope and leave it at that.
There are some added bonuses to shopping here though. It’s in the same mall as a Cobs Bread, a Starbucks and a Shoppers Drug Mart, so you can get a heck of a lot of errands done here. It’s also just down the road from the kick-​ass Kingsland Farmers Market, which is especially nice as I usually get some ingrediants for my various wild madman cooking concoctions, and then stop by here for something to cook it in that’s disposable.
The staff is friendly enough, though I keep wondering how this place stays alive all these years since I never see it very busy.

Is it just me or do y’all have high expectations for dollar stores too? When you call yourself the Super Loonie Store, I’m expecting you to have some kind of differentiating factor from other dollar stores. Wow me with something… even if it’s your mad display skills that show you stand apart from the other dollar stores. but you’ve got earn your super. And I’m sorry Super Loonie Store, you haven’t earned it for me.
You’re an alright place. But you’re just like every other place in the city. You’re not really big, you don’t have a specialty selection of something for cheap prices that another dollar store doesn’t have. The lady working your counter smiled and said hello when I came in the door, that was nice. I think that’s part of the reason you get 3 stars from me. Because you are A-​OK, just not super.
On that note, expect to find your usuals here, kitchenware, a few party favours, cards, decorations, baht products and the likes.
