CHICKENROTI — Lunch menu item is fantastic! It is the perfect balance of vegetables, curry and chicken. The authentic flavours make me feel as if I am on vacation. I highly recommend this place, they have improved the ‘aura’ and added a large screen TV with Jamaican stars performing musical acts with dancing. Previously, I was impressed with their Rum collection, and loved the Cocoanut Rum.

Relaxing ambience. Good food. A little pricey, but not crazy for downtown. Staff are friendly. Free wifi. It’s a good place to relax and have some cheap drinks. Good location, even though it’s usually pretty windy in that area.

I really like this place, it is close to where I work and has a wonderfully relaxed ambiance. The staff are almost all family members of the cook. The rotis are delicious and so is the desert. I wish I made the time to come here more often.

Since Bahamas, I’ve been craving for a good, hearty Caribbean food and they’re not easy to find in Edmonton. I stumbled on Café Caribe while waiting in line for Tres Carnales, and I’m glad I did. We made it a point to try the place out on a Friday evening. There was only 3 tables of guests so it was pretty empty considering it was during dinner time. The place is ran by a lady and seems like she has one other person helping her. The food took a while to come, I think we waited for around 30 minutes. They have a small menu and I was disappointed to find that the oxtail and goat curry was not listed in the menu. So we asked for oxtail, they do have it but it’s being«phased out», which is odd. We also ordered the jerk chicken with rice and beans. Both dishes were delicious! I would love to see more authentic items on the menu and will definitely go back.

I’m so sad that this place is so empty! It’s so nice to be able to try something different downtown, so when I saw West Indian food I was so excited! There was maybe one other table in the whole place and it didn’t seem to pick up throughout lunch. The menu is short but that makes my life easier especially if I can’t decide on what to eat. The three of us ordered the chicken roti — it was great! Different than the traditional East Indian chicken and roti, which was a nice change. Although the plating was really plain, the food was awesome. I’ll be back!!!

Great space friendly staff. It was completely dead which surprised me because the prices were great and the food was excellent. Got the jerk chicken wrap special for 8.50 and it was well worth it and an import Caribbean beer for 3.50 that was pretty good too. Highly recommend. Minus one star because floor was pretty dirty but nothing else really seemed to be.

A very pleasant find. The Trinidadian macaroni pie and house-made ginger beer were a nice way to start the meal. Chicken curry roti and jerk chicken wrap were spiced just right. The owner was very friendly, even though he was short-handed. Service was quick and attentive.

The $ 14 jerk chicken was bone-in served with rice n peas(kidney beans in it) and a mango dressing salad. The portion was not as substantial as I’m used in downtown Toronto joints(approximately ½ of what I expected) but the jerk nearly burned my face off it was so spicy! Finally a jerk that really cuts it. The servers were pleasant ladies.

Great summery flavors that are fresh and super tasty. Seasoned perfectly. Superb service. Super fast. Nice café/bar atmosphere. Homemade Caribbean. Great drink prices. I never even knew about this fantastic local restaurant nestled in one of the busiest streets in Edmonton. It’s located in a little cul De sac street near the Scotia tower. It is surrounded by fancy eateries that charge way more than they should just bc of the great location. I visited on downtown dining week on a Friday night. It wasn’t very busy so service was fantastic. You know that service that is top notch… where the servers are family and own this place and are super proud of it. The atmosphere is cute. It’s a bar/café with lots of big comfy chairs to lounge in. We sat in the chairs and we’re so relaxed! Try them. Lol. Once the waitress gave us menus we ordered one of each of the specials. But it’s actually about the same price as the regular menu except you get a free cassava cake. The crab cakes were good. Not like the typical crab cakes you order that can be dry and crispy. These were soft gooey and broke like butter when cut into. Very good except I wish I had more! The taste was fresh light and not at all fishy. They were high quality too. Honestly I’m pretty sure it’s not imitation crab… This is the real good stuff. Yum. Gobbled down in literally a minute. Next we had the Jerk chicken which was a drumstick and a leg that was so tender it fell apart when touched. It had a a unusual taste that is quite hard to describe. Not at all spicy but flavourful with a kick afterwards. It was my son’s favourite dish. It came with some rice mixed with beans and a refreshing mango salad. Wow wow wow. The mango salad reminded me of summer. Even though it was the first day of spring with the foot of snow that magically appeared overnight! It was light, fruity and so good. Refreshing and every bite tasted just as good as the last and there was no signage of wilting as the veggies used were super super fresh! It was definitely made to order and not precut like lots of other restaurants do it! I am a fan of this salad and it even got my anti salad/veggie 12 year old to sneak a few forks of delicious salad. I would highly recommend this dish! It was unique and spectacular in its own right. And if you know me that’s a feat. I’m a meat kinda girl… salads are not meant for me. I don’t like them. So it was quite impressive when I cleaned the plate clean. We also shared a chicken roti. A fresh naan filled with a mild chicken and potato curry. It doesn’t sound great but my first bite was surprisingly so tasty. It was not spicy but so flavourful. The dish was fantastic and we literally had no a morsel left over. To finish we had the cassava cake topped with whipped cream. It was yummy. Soft and not overly sweet it really made my meal complete. The portions were all decently sized and priced really well. I believe it’s $ 14 for an entrée. And the value is much better than other restaurants in this area. Beers ranged from $ 5-$ 7 which is pretty cheap considering it’s not Draft. There’s some pretty cheap wine too and some nice flavored sodas. The service was what was outstanding. Paced perfectly. Not intrusive or annoying. They cleared plates quickly and paced courses for what I would call the most highly effective and cost efficient way. Fast. With but not too fast. Just perfect if you need to eat on the lunch hour. We had 3 courses in under 45 minutes!!! To top it off my son GASP lost a tooth while eating and the server was so cute to give him a box with some money in it! Totally unexpected and made my son’s meal and his day! This local restaurant gives you that awesome feeling like you are a part of the community and your dining experience a pleasure for them to share with you. It’s like being invited for dinner at your friends parents place. Where the food is homemade and so delicious. All of my dishes were masterfully prepared. Seasoned perfectly. Fresh ingredients with unique flavors. Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. Love this joint! This place deserves some buzz! Bc it really surprised me! I’m proud to support this local small business!

The menu is quite limited. The jerk chicken was very flavourful. I considered it medium as opposed to hot. It included a small salad and some rice. The quantity is enough for a woman but a man will probably need more. It wasn’t worth $ 19 to me. The service was non-existent. We were the only ones there. The server/bartender never left the bar after serving us. I had to go to him twice for a water refill(he clearly didn’t get the hint the first time). He never asked us how we liked the food nor cleared our plates. We had to go up to ask about dessert and to get the bill. Very disappointing.

Great place for lunch. We both had the chicken roti. Which had just enough spice to make it enjoyable without killing your taste buds. Service was fast and very pleasant. I will definitely be taking other friends here for a nice enjoyable lunch.

This place is fantastic. There is nothing like it in the area, which is just part of what makes it great. All the food is authentic and fresh. The owner is so friendly and I love supporting local family run businesses. The atmosphere inside is awesome, especially now after renovations. I highly recommend the roti wrap, the mango salad dressing, and anything with the calypso shrimp. The place looks and feels like vacation. Cant wait to go back!

Went here for lunch today. The food was amazing. I had the vegan Roti and sister had chicken roti. We thought we ordered it with a salad. It took a little long to get our order(~20 min), but otherwise it was good. Our bill was under $ 20 and I was full I will be going back!

My daughter and I went here during the weekend of Taste of Edmonton, so we literally had the place to ourselves. Lovely ambience and décor. The woman who served us was friendly, had a lovely smile, and greeted us promptly. We tried the crab cakes, which are served with slices of mango on top, which was a first for me, and I really enjoyed the flavours. Two crab cakes are $ 10.50. I also tried the chicken roti, which was perfect and super delicious. Afterwards, I asked if rice could be an option, and yes, it is. I’ll try the chicken roti with rice the next time I go. Sadly though, I have gone back twice to find a sign that they are under construction. Their Facebook page indicated they would be open Wednesday, July 30th, so I happily strolled over for lunch with a co-worker, but that was not the case. I read their ceiling fell off or something alarming like that, so totally understandable, but I do wish they would update the information regularly. Having said that, I look forward to returning and enjoying another tasty meal.

Café Caribe is pretty new to the business. I was there with a friend for dinner and I would say the quality of food is really great. You will have to try this place if you’re a fan of «Jerk Chicken». The atmosphere is nice and their service is not bad at all. Their menu is not so big and the food is bit expensive as well(19 $ for Jerk chicken and rice). I may go back again just to try out some other items.

This gem of a place serving Caribbean food opened up about a month ago. I ordered the Chicken roti which is essential Caribbean curry with large pieces of chick wrapped up in roti bread taco style. It comes with a side salad and a delicious dressing. I loved it! I also tried the flower drink they had in house, I think it was called shayari. Delicious, refreshing and tasty. The total meal costed $ 17.75. The owners did an excellent job of recommending and describing a meal and drink choice. And as i talked to them found out they are from Trinidad. Lovely people. I really enjoyed my meal here and it pumped me up for my second half of classes on a Saturday.
