Caffe Sorrentino

I love the atmosphere of this location; the high ceiling and big windows really open up the space and make it seem larger than it is.
They make a mean Americano and a good cup of coffee, but I do find that the staff is a little careless when they do not have a customer at the till. I’ve been here twice and both times the same baristas were working. They were sitting at a table near the counter at the back, chatting. Keep that for non-​work hours, or at least be productive while you chat.

I was really excited when this café opened near my place. I enjoyed a latte at another location and even though I am a Starbucks junkie it’s sometimes nice to have an alternative (Starbucks baristas if you read this I’m just upping my Unilocal cred, you know I love you best!). I didn’t care for their chai latte, but mocha over ice was delicious as well as the eggnog latte during the Christmas season :)

While the food at Sorrentino’s is pretty ordinary, the staff members at this particular location are a pretty friendly and good bunch.

Right across from where I live in Edmonton. The staff are always friendly and the lunches are always delicious! I love this little café and should really come here more often the servings are generous and the gelato is divine! Sometimes the staff seem a little confused but the food really does make up for it!

I was pleased to see a new café open in my neighbourhood. I don’t really know much about the Caffe Sorrentino franchise, I have avoided the name since ordering a really terrible meal from «Sorrentinos Bistro Bar» (is that the same thing?) via Dial and Dine a few years ago, but I thought I would give it a try as it is so close.
They have done an amazing job decorating this place– the high ceilings look really spectacular, see attached photos, and not too bright or garish. They serve wine, a few bottled lagers and spirits and at the moment stay open until fairly late. The breakfast sandwiches were I think pre-​made but tasted pretty good. Everyone seemed friendly and the owner Matt is a really nice guy.
There is a whole counter of tasty little desserts and cakes, and tasty looking gelato which I will try next summer. The one thing that could be improved for me is the coffee; more frothy than creamy microfoam, and the coffee flavour was nothing special (could be the staff just learning though). I will be back for the tea, desserts, occasional breakfast, and free WiFi though.
