They have pretty good coffee. They have crazy delicious cheese scones! I’m typically not much for pastries, but these bad boys are the bomb! Make sure to go early because they tend to run out of the good pastries fast.

Another great LOCAL coffee shop located in the heart of the city! Great service and some of the best baked goods I’ve ever had at a coffee shop! I buy my coffee beans there all the time and they always have good selection. On Fridays you get a free drink when you buy a bag of beans. what’s not to love? Oh yeah, the fact that they’re not open after regular business(I.E. AB Government) working hours. Other than that I’d give it 5 stars

Great product, but mediocre service and quite expensive. Also awkwardly setup so when there’s a wait for whatever you ordered, it can be awkward to stay out of the way of people getting sugar/cream etc. Generally well liked, but the price and sometimes questionable service only make it a once in a while treat rather than a regular go to coffee/snack place. Also the hours on a Saturday morning aren’t fantastic.

Awesome spot, same great service and coffee as Elm Café(their sister store). I come here nearly everyday for a pick-me-up and some sustenance. Love it.

Came here this morning because I walked a different route to work. I got myself a large vanilla latte and a pumpkin zucchini chocolate muffin. Cost was $ 8.50. The latte was hot, not overly sweet, and had a subtle vanilla taste. It was really really good. The muffin was top notch! Heck, it was still warm! They have baked goods at the ready in the morning, and the line moves pretty fast(There were only two people in front of me). I find that it’s a little pricey, but that’s what you get for quality.

What a cute little coffee shop! This place is small and out of the way off jasper but just perfect. They’re only really open business hrs so it’s not a place I’ll frequent but I’m so glad I tried it. The latte($ 4) I had was amazing. The flavour is rich and nutty without being bitter. The chocolate chip cookie($ 2) was good and chewy, with an interesting cinnamon flavour to it.(Not a love but it was pretty good!) People around me all seemed to have delicious looking sandwiches that I’d love to go back and try. All around a perfectly cute little independent coffee place!

This place has really awesome baked goods. The breakfast sandwich I ate this morning was a wonderful treat partially because the foccaccia bread was so fresh and delicious! I loved how the egg was cooked too! So delicious! This place is definitely hopping busy but also definitely worth a visit!

A cute little café amongst all the office buildings. Shame they charged me $ 7.20 for a mocha with almond milk as that means I’ll likely not return there due to the outrageous prices. Call me weird but I have a bit of a thing about paying over $ 7 for a coffee and unless it comes with some food like substance or a small bar of silver, I’ll not willingly pay that price again. Other than that, if you don’t need to drink almond milk then I assume their prices are reasonable. But I won’t be returning to find out.

We had chai latte and the quinoa salad here. The service was as cold as the not-anything-special quinoasalad. Did not find anything special about this place. Just another café with men sitting in the window playing with their laptops.

Oh this is an adorable little coffee shop! And a much needed one in that area of Downtown. I love all the artwork from Snap Gallery, the chairs and stools are very stylized and stand out(though I’m not sure how comfortable they are). The breakfast and lunch menu is quite nice with items like local cheeses, bialys, and breakfast and lunch«boxes». The staff was very friendly and nice. I learned that they make the fabulous caramels in house(and they are to die for!!). And most important, my esspresso macchiato was perfecto!

District is a tiny little coffee shop located downtown. They have an awesome selection of small batch coffee and a knowledgable staff to back it up and make recommendations. I went in and grabbed a cup to go and a package of Phil and Sebastian coffee for home. The service was fast, the coffee was perfect and it was busy, always a good sign when looking for a place with fresh brew. Will definitely return next time I am in the area of the legislature.

This place is amazing. Super close to my house and when I am in the mood for something tasty that isn’t Starbucks(which is happening more and more nowadays) this is the first place I go. The layout of the shop is very simple and the staff are all very friendly and laid back. No matter how busy it is, they always seem to keep their cool. The food is great, the coffee is great, it’s all great! I love this place!

Stopped by for lunch one day and the roast beef and gouda sandwich was superb. I also had an americano and was definitely worth every penny. I am very selective and picky over my coffee, and this was a cup that did not need any additional milk or sugar. The espresso was just right. I will be back again.

I first heard of District Coffee Co. on Instagram and its endless feed of coffee and lemon meringue pie. District takes on a modern aesthetic and pulls it off nicely. I didn’t have the cleanest table but thats the price of the lunch rush. They proudly serve Phil & Sebastian Coffee but I wasn’t overly excited about the drink after going coffee snob route and ordering a Gibraltar. Good but not quite to the order of Credo, Elm, and Transcend. Additionally, I managed to snag a Lemon Meringue Pie which was about $ 4 and slightly larger than a butter tart from Safeway. The crust was buttery, flakey and the filling was sweet, velvety citrus. Overall, I would love to go back to District Coffee Co. for baked goods and coffee whether intravenously or from the mug.

Friendly serious coffee spot where it’s needed. Great atmosphere. Delicious espresso drinks, some coffee nerd equipment for sale and excellent baked goods(and a couple of lunch items). Just wish they were open weekends!

Take everything that’s great about Elm Café and add in a bigger, more central downtown location, Phil and Sebastian coffee beans from Calgary and lemon meringue pies and you’ve got District Coffee Co. Don’t wait too late in the afternoon to visit, most of baked goods are gone after lunch time is over. Looking forward to getting to try the waffles on the weekend.

I can’t imagine a better coffee shop(north of the river) than District Coffee Co. The coffee is the terrific Phil & Seb from Calgary, and all the baking is done in house, and is spectacular. I thought I tasted heaven when I tried the rice krispie square(topped with fresh, toasty marshmallow), and the scone was out of this world, but then… then I tried the cinnamon bun and I was transformed. It was easily the best cinnamon bun I have had — the perfect amount of cinnamon and brown sugar, topped with gooey caramel and, of course, cream cheese icing(you can get it without the icing, but… why?). It is so worth the extra hour on the treadmill. My only complaint is that they don’t serve the cinnamon buns on Saturdays, but they swap them out for waffle sandwiches, so I guess that takes a bit of the sting out. Elm Café is just up the street from me, and its good too, but I would gladly walk the extra few blocks up to District for a morning pick-me-up any day.

A fantastic coffee and bake shop. Though from the same owner of Elm, District gives an entirely different reason for me to visit. I previously would make an effort to visit Calgary for Phil and Sebastian coffee and now I can get my fix at this wonderful downtown spot. Pair this notably high quality coffee with one of several baked goods and I am certain you’ll be hooked. The rice krispy square was a particular standout for me. I also really appreciate that the shop makes an effort to promote local — The walls are currently adorned with artwork from SNAP gallery. The only drawback(and reason for 4 stars instead of 5) is its lack of seating during busy times. This will hopefully be remedied when the summer patio opens.

I love this place. The best thing about it is definitely the pastry selection; they’re all made in-house! They brew Phil&Sebastian coffee from Calgary, which I love. Their main theme is Alberta-made, local products. what’s not to love about that? The seating selection is fairly good, with a row of seats by the window and a couple of tables. Perfect for downtown coffee needs.

District Coffee Co. opened its doors to downtown’s caffeine addicts this week. If you’re one of them, you’ve probably already been. Sharon(Only Here for the Food) detailed their family and friends event last week which got me even more excited to try. I will disclose this first and foremost: I’m no coffee expert. Nowhere near. I like a cup of cream and sugar with a side of coffee, although I was a former coffee addict in my university years. Since then, I have mastered cutting down to a cup of hot chocolate in the winter months. That didn’t stop me from waking up early for a coffee date with Joe yesterday though! That is correct, I live in the north side of town, drove in with downtown traffic, grabbed a coffee, and drove back to write this and go to work… in St. Albert. Hashtag, foodieproblems. Located on 109 St and 100 Ave in the Peace Hills Trust Building and neighbor to the Italian restaurant Allegro, the District Coffee Co. storefront is a little shy. I blame the dark, reflective mirrors. It would be nice if they have completely clear mirrors so pedestrians could see the hustle and bustle! Hopefully when the snow melts and it gets warmer it will be a bit clearer and if they place patio tables outside, it will promote traffic. Or word of mouth is fine too. Whatever works. The coffee shop is small, accommodating only two tables and a long bar stool counter top for«to stay-ers». I was hoping for cozy seating, much like the past Mercer Warehouse’s ROAST Coffeehouse and downtown’s Transcend(may they rest in peace), but it seems like their mainstay will be to get people in and out. Coffee, coffee, coffee. They do offer freshly baked pastries, sandwiches, soups, and pot pies for lunch. I agree with Sharon, loved the fact that they pay attention to little details, from souvenir Alberta plates to wooden trays. They feature Calgary’s Phil & Sebastian Coffee Roast, as opposed to their sister business, Elm Café’s 49th Parallel Coffee from Vancouver. I ordered a latte to go, as did Joe. Great coffee from my perspective; Joe agreed, and I’d like to think he knows more about coffee than I do since he’s one of those downtown caffeine addicts. I was interested in trying the baked goodies! So much selection and all looked delicious. We decided on a lemon meringue pie to start, obviously the best way to start breakfast right? Yum! Joe would have preferred a thinner crust but the lemon custard was on the looser side, so I disagree. That would just compromise pie integrity! Joe also took a cinnamon bun to go for work, but I managed to steal a bite. The glaze was hardened and made the exterior into a sticky toffee(wash that down with coffee!), but the bun itself was very well done. I recommended Joe to maybe reheat it in the microwave for a few seconds to see if the glaze would re-melt. I saved the best for last. Brittney was the first to tell me about the toasted marshmallow rice krispie, having tried it earlier in the week. «That toasted marshmallow rice krispie was so good, I sent an inappropriate text to a friend.» I second her opinion! The rice krispie itself isn’t too sweet, and the marshmallow topping was nice and fluffy. I liked this the best of all three pastries we ordered. Joe even said he would come back to District Coffee Co. just for this. Winner! Thanks for tweeting about it Britt! The back section is dedicated to a long counter for their baking. Whatcha making there…? A nice concept and a great way to showcase as downtown-ers wait for their coffee. We were there for only 15 minutes as Joe had to head off to work but in that time, I can tell you a steady stream of people were picking up their morning cup of joe. Beautiful café and I hope they extend their hours for the weekend as that’s the only time I’m in downtown! Next time I want to try their pot pie! Congratulations to District Coffee Co. and welcome. What do you think YEG? Give it a try and support local businesses and maybe you won’t miss that«Play Again» Roll Up the Rim cup!
