This is an average to below average hotel in most respects. On the plus side the living room portion is large, the kitchenette is adequate, the bed is comfortable, the hotel is clean. On the minus side, the shower water can suddenly turn uncomfortable, the maid service overlooks some little things, the hallways can be noisy, the desk clerks are terrible at giving directions for places outside the hotel, and the restaurants associated are outside and way too expensive. No possibility of a continental breakfast. Worst is that the rooms are too warm and the temperature can’t be adjusted properly, making sleep uncomfortable if that is something you care about. Overall this is a place that doesn’t seem to care to do a good job.

Now, this is what I’m talking about! Campus tower is an urbanish hotel right outside the university(on top of Earls). I had the great opportunity to stay at this hotel and had a wonderful time. Of course, it’s easy to like it, since I got to stay in a two room suite, but I think the amenities are great here. Firstly, they have a nice kitchenette and given that Sobeys is really a stone’s throw away, visitors can always choose to get some bread, milk and other such essentials instead of choosing to eat out. The kitchenette is well equipped for a full meal too, but definitely perfect for a breakfast(toaster, kettle, coffee machine, microwave etc.). The lobby area is also quite decent with baggage check for people checking out way earlier than their flight, i.e. me in that one instance. Also, they have a decent gym out here, again in the lobby area. Another huge plus point is that this building is a shuttle stop for the airport shuttle. That makes it a very convenient location for people who don’t know much about Edmonton. The room itself was quite spacious with an HDTV. The furniture was certainly exquisite. The Campus Suites is a pricey place to stay, but you get your money’s worth. Although it’s not located in a trendy area, it’s right off the LRT and also walking distance to Whyte. I’d recommend this place, for people who have business at the university.
