Sooooo good here. Turkey sandwich on sunflower bread and sour cream apple pie is amazing only reason for 4 stars is the staff could be friendlier. I realize they are super busy but that’s no reason to be rude. Also they run out of sunflower bread all the time! And it’s literally the best :) the soups are always great too. Not sure if the actually are homemade or not but they taste homemade.

Fast service and tasty fresh food! The outside of the restaurant looks unassuming. You don’t realize how spacious the restaurant is until you get inside. The restaurant is long, narrow and has an upper and lower dining area. The process of getting your sandwich is cafeteria style. The lines are fast moving. I came to eat around lunch and felt a little rushed. The menu is at the front of the restaurant you it gives you a chance to think about what you want to eat. They all sound good so you need to choose quickly. I got the roast beef sandwich in sunflower seed bread. They don’t toast the bread but I didn’t mind because I found the bread soft and fluffy. I found it easy to eat and I didn’t get it stuck behind my teeth. Most of the sandwiches cost around $ 6 or so. I also ordered sour cream apple pie slice for $ 3.75. So good! I engulfed the sandwich and pie in under 18 minutes. That’s how I knew that I thought the meal was delicious! I definitely recommend this place!

The daily sandwich and soup special is now $ 8.29, went up $ 1.30. Still a great deal though.

Their sandwiches are delightful — real, fresh ingredients and a multitude of topping options, served on the softest of breads, with your choice of white, wheat, multi-grain, rye, or sunflower(baked in store). Whether you’re a ham fan or nuts for tuna, Fife N Dekel has a sandwich for you. And they’re known for their pies, which are home-made and as good as the ones your mum used to make. For lunch, we tried a Turkey sandwich, a Tuna Salad, the Beef Barley soup, the Cream of Broccoli soup, and — to top it all off — one of their famous Butter Tarts. I love biting into a Fife N Dekel sandwich; the bread is always unbelievably soft and they never skimp on the toppings. Their soups and stews change daily, but the ones we ordered were thick, hearty, and piping hot — the perfect accompaniment to a cold sandwich. The Butter Tart was phenomenal. I could’ve eaten a hundred. Once you try one of Fife N Dekel’s Butter Tarts, you’ll never want to try the supermarket bulk brand again.

A wonderful lunch spot with homemade soups, sandwiches and pies. The sandwiches are made the way a sandwich is supposed to be: freshly baked bread, home roasted and sliced meats and crisp, thick cut vegetables. The price is very reasonable considering a fast food, preservative-laden alternative. I was honestly expecting to pay more knowing the nature of the business. It’s walking distance from my work, so I will become a regular here for quality, wholesome and affordable food.

I’ve become a fan of the Fife N’ Dekel in recent weeks. I like how their roast beef is freshly cut — it doesn’t have that store-bought cold-cut thing going on. And their sunflower seed bread has held up better on my subsequent visits than my first. I still think their pie is a bit more bland for my tastes.

This place rocks for lunch that’s quick(if you get there before 1130, else the line grows out the door by 12), satisfying and consistent. Our office does a lot of business lunches there with clients and their consistently positive reviews keep us coming back. For people that want to eat fresh and not a submarine or a donair or other fast food, I recommend this place. I have only ever had one sammich from there that wasn’t inspiring and I blame myself for experimenting with too many toppings. Keep up the good work!

I hadn’t tried this place before so after mention of it by co-workers I thought I might as well. We went during the lunch hour which to be honest was probably the biggest mistake ever, it was extremely busy and dealing with the staff kind of felt like I was in that Seinfeld episode with the«soup nazi» I didn’t find their attitude very polite or happy to be there. I had ordered a turkey sandwich on wheat bread and vegetable soup; to be honest I could have made the food at home(or work if I brought the supplies) for a much cheaper price than what I had paid for it, I didn’t find it to be really all that great tasting. They also have a variety of pies for dessert, which I unfortunately did not partake in; I may end up going back for a slice of pie eventually although. Update: I finally decided to give Fife N’ Dekel another try & try out their pie. To be honest, I was pretty disappointed with the food as well as the service & had to reduce the amount of stars I originally gave. The person assisting us at the counter wasn’t very attentive to our requests on what we wanted on our sandwiches which caused a lot of hassle having to have her remake multiple ones and in the end they still ended up being incorrect. The person wasn’t very polite either. We ordered 4 pieces of pie and only recieved 3 and to be honest, the pie was not very good anyway. I had the coconut cream pie and it seemed like it was a bit old because it wasn’t very creamy and tasted a little off. The parking for this location is pretty limited due to it being beside other fairly busy businesses. Between my first and second experience, I don’t think I will ever go back to Fife N’ Dekel.

Fife N’ Dekel is a bit pricey. It is a pretty busy place usually buzzing with people from nearby offices so I thought it would be good, but it wasn’t. The sandwiches they make here I felt I could make at home. So if you are into homemade sandwiches you might like this place. Personally if I am paying to eat out I would like my food to taste that way. It wasn’t like it saved me the time of making lunch either because it was so busy. They do have a a lot of desserts to choose from, mainly pies. I guess if you love pie you might love this place.

Fife ‘n’ Dekel has several locations in Edmonton. This west end one is quite spacious, with two levels of tables. The place specializes in fresh, homemade sandwiches, soups, and desserts, especially pies. You can join(or get someone as a gift) a membership in the«Pie of the Month» club, which entitles one to a featured pie, once a month. We needed a mid-afternoon pick-me-up, and happened to pass by. I had a slice of apple pie($ 3.05) and a cup of coffee(only $ 1 — with free refills!). My companion had a turkey sandwich(fresh roasted — not the deli stuff), a can of pop, and flapper pie for dessert. I have never seen so many varieties of pies in one place before. I tried my friend’s flapper pie, which I have never had, and liked the combination of meringue, custard, and graham cracker crust. My apples pie was sweet and full of cinnamon, but nothing over the top — it tasted like a very fresh, high-quality pie that can be found in some supermarkets. Variety is obviously key here. My friend’s sandwich was excellent — it looked very fresh, and I love how cranberries is one of the available fillings. Other sandwiches include ham, roast beef, and peanut butter and jelly — you don’t get more quaint than that! The interior of Fife ‘n’ Dekel is very plain and spacious. You place your order and pay at the counter, while your order is served up right in front of your eyes. You can even see some of the staff baking. Fife ‘n’ Dekel is a great place for lunch or coffee. The prices are very reasonable, the quality decent, and the selection excellent.
