A good, quick-stop café for downtown lunchers. I stopped by here for lunch the other day, being tired of the other usual lunch spots. The girl behind the counter was friendly and quick to help me with my order. They have pretty much your typical lunch café menu, with assorted sandwiches, pastries, salads and coffees. The ham and swiss croissant sandwich I had was quite tasty and fresh, but I must say there was waaay too much mustard in it. They have a good cold drinks menu great for hot days too. I liked the peach fruit smoothie, although it was more like a slush. It is a spacious café with plenty of seating room: comfy sofa chairs in one corner, small tables in the middle and barstools seated along the windows. I don’t think it will be my first choice again for lunch, but I may try it again with the hopes I won’t get mustard overload again :)

I’ve been to this coffee shop about 6 or 7 times. The coffee is «okay.» I usually order a decaf speciality latte and I frequently find that the coffee flavor in my beverage is weak. I’ve had my beverages made by 4 different people and it’s always the same… so I don’t think it’s the baristas fault, I think it’s likely the decaf espresso brand or strength. The service is always good, quick, and friendly. Just not my favorite coffee unfortunately… I’d prefer a Timmy’s over this place.

Something about Java Express screams«1990s» to me. This was the decade where fancy frappawhachamacallits arose to prominence, oversized muffins were the rage, and coffee shops really came into their own. I’ve been to Java Express a few times now and will admit their coffee is decent(but doesn’t approach Transcend or Credo standards), the furniture is comfortable and the ambiance is average. It is a perfect spot for downtown people watching, if that’s your cup of tea/coffee. Their muffins and scones are a big step up from some other [names will not be mentioned] coffee chains, and are big enough to evoke the days of Green Day and«Friends.» I’m not convinced that Java Express wears its age well, but it has a certain je né c’est quoi that draws me back from time to time.

Well, Java Express is across the street from my office. After my last experience, I didn’t really want to go back but I decided not to condemn an entire business because of one rogue employee. I sat down with the owner of Java Express and had a great conversation with him. I was elated to find out that the«rude girl» was no longer working there(for that reason). I had one of their chicken sandwiches and I have to be honest — it was incredible. It was delicious that I probably could have eaten 3 of them in that one sitting! I also had a pomegranate smoothie. It was also pretty darn good! In fact, it’s the best smoothie in North America! No really, it is. The supplier of Java Express’ smoothies won the best smoothie award in the United States so it is literally the best smoothie! It was really good. It was refreshing to see the owner actually behind the counter doing work too. It was obvious that he cared about his shop. He also knew a lot of the customers, which was nice. My first impression of Java Express was based on a single employee. I’m glad I went back and I’m glad I know now what they are all about. I will be going back again.

Oh Java Express. I love this place, When I first moved to the city I was walking downtown trying to familiarize myself with my new surroundings. What made me notice this place was the free internet access with any purchase. I decided to give it a try and I was not disappointed! I go there at least twice a week for lunch, they have the most best creative sandwiches and Delicious soups even there sweets are tasty. They also serve many different types of coffees, lattes, teas, iced coffees and a wide variety of fruit smoothies. I would say they are a couple dollars more then your boring olé subway but it’s worth it. The feel in Java Express is that of a living room with it’s comfy chairs and fireplace. The people that work there are also happy and kind and if your staying they bring your food and drink out to you, like a restaurant. I highly recommend Java Express.

Java Express is one of a number of coffee shops located downtown along Jasper, just East of 103 St. It’s a corner shop that is all windows. They have free Internet and I’ve sat on more than one occasion for hours on their comfy chairs getting some sun while doing some work on my laptop. Java Express has friendly staff and they have created a comfortable space to stop and have lunch or relax over a hot cup of gourmet coffee and a sweet snack. All of their sandwiches look very fresh. I had a panini once here that was tasty, and you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg for lunch or coffee break. If you don’t feel like the line-up at Tim Horton’s or bitter(and often burnt) coffee at Second Cup, Java Ex is a good option within walking distance. Plus, you’re supporting local business, and especially at this time, that’s a good thing.

Java Express is one of those Jasper Avenue coffee stops that should be more popular, but isn’t. Perhaps it is located too close to other coffee chain shops. Certainly the quality of the coffee is not an issue — it always tastes fresh and great. There are numerous comfy chairs where one can sit, and snacks and light foods to enjoy. I had something like a brownie(it was a square of some kind) the last time I was there — it cost more than it probably should have and was not as flavourable as I expected. So be careful when it comes to the eats. Come for the coffee instead.

A corner café in a prime Jasper Ave location, it is bright and spacious. There’s a lot of wood — the floors, counters, tables. I felt somewhat guilty, as if I were somehow contributing to deforestation. They offer a variety of sandwiches, desserts, hot and cold beverages. Things were a little pricey. I ordered a low fat cappuccino which tasted decent. My heart sunk a bit when it was served in a take-out cup. I wasn’t asked if I was staying or not or even given the option of an actual mug. Sigh! More waste. I sat by the window writing and sipping and really trying hard to tune out Magic 99 playing in the background. How many renditions of Blue Moon could there be? Several apparently.
