Alann’s keen eye for color and her reputation in color changes and corrections have made her the go-to colorist for show stopping color! Alann has a customized approach to color, treating each head of hair as its own masterpiece. Her passion is to create beautiful color that perfectly compliments your complexion, personality, fashion and lifestyle. But wait, it doesn’t stop there. Alann is equally as talented and passionate about Upstyles and Bridal Hair. When you wear her creations, you’ll know just how talented she really is! Alann has been a fixture in the Edmonton beauty industry for over 13 years. She has attended and won numerous awards in North America at the Salon Magazine Contessa Awards, Canadian Hairdresser Mirror Awards and the L’Oreal Colour Trophy Awards. Her most recent accomplishments include winning the ‘2015 Canadian Multicultural Hairstylist of the year’ and ‘Colorist of The Year’ and ‘Texture Stylist of the Year’ for 2012 and 2013 respectively.

So I am looking for a new salon to go to… read the reviews, talked to some people, and decided to use the online booking service offered by this salon (which I love the option). Being a retired hairstylist myself who has never really recieved the gift of being pampered in a salon, I thought I would now start looking for a salon I could really go to, be a regular client and experience what I spent many years doing for others :)
I booked my appointment, and within a few days, recieved a call from the receptionist regarding my appointment, which was over three weeks away yet. She tells me that she is calling to give me a «heads up» that my appointment may NOT happen and they will let me know by the Wednesday before, as they wont have time to blowdry my hair and I would have to leave with wet hair. WHAT??? She said they will do their best, but she cant guarantee the appt at this point. (So what is the point)?
She says the salon will do everything it can to accommodate this appt, but again, its not guaranteed. Made no sense to me at all.
After giving it a few minutes of thought, I called back, explained that I would already be waiting for 3 weeks for the appointment, which was fine, but that I wasnt willing to risk having it cancelled at the last minute. I told her I was looking for a new salon, and one of the reasons why, was because of situations like this. She offered no alternative, no rebooking, no apology… just kept repeating that they wouldnt have time to blowdry. Again, totally didnt understand what was happening and asked her to cancel my appt as I would need to start searching somewhere else. I am a loyal, regular client and am honestly just looking to find a great new stylist ! What a dissappointment. :(

Talk about total redemption! I got a call several weeks ago from the owner of KoKo, wanting to touch base with me about my review. Now, my pervious review wasn’t terrible; there was a lot that I liked about the salon. He felt, however, that they could do better. He was right.
First, he told me that the stylist that did my hair for my first visit was no longer with them due to the quality of her work. I also found out that I never received their customary follow up call, even though it had been marked down that I had.
To get me to give them another go, and to restore my confidence in the salon, he offered a cut and style on the house. I already had a cut and style booked for that weekend, as I was going to a wedding, but I assured him I would get in touch for anything I needed in the future.
Lo and behold, the appointment I had fell through, and not only did he manage to squeeze me in on short notice, he came in early to make sure he could help me out. Aside from going above and beyond to make sure I was happy with my salon experience, I am in love with my cut. Roshan listened to me and made suggestions, and I can honestly say I haven’t been this happy with my hair in years.
He actually took the time to explain what he saw as problem areas in my hair and talked about what he was going to do to fix the issues. I got many complements on my hair, and that hasn’t happened since my wedding.
Bottom line: I am so happy to have found a business that will go out of the way to fix things that have gone wrong, and I will be back.

When you move to a new city, sometimes it can be hard to find a new salon that is the right fit. I had done quite a bit of research before settling on KoKo, which I felt would be my best option.
When I’d called in, the earliest appointment that would work with my schedule was almost two weeks out — this is a good sign. As impatient as I can usually be, I forced myself to wait the the week to get in here, rather than going somewhere else to get in right away. I am so glad that I found out about KoKo, it was worth the wait and this will be my Edmonton salon going forward.
The husband and wife team (Roshan & Alann) have done a great job at creating a warm, clean, modern, and comfortable salon. From the moment I walked in and was greeted by a personalized welcome message at the front desk, to the moment I was leaving with a perfect cut and color plus gift box, the service and care were terrific. You can tell that they like what they do, and that they care about the customers and the entire experience.
Both Alann and Roshan took the time to talk to me, look at some of my inspiration pics and discuss my budget (I knew it would be more than the cuts and coloring I’d had done in Halifax, and I wanted to be able to tip). They know hair and know what will work for each individual. You can feel comfortable giving them creative freedom and I am confident you will love the results.
The conversations were great, time flew by quickly, and I am incredibly happy with how it turned out. It’s worth it to get your hair done by the best in the city and to pay a little more for quality and skill. They have won multiple awards for their work plus they teach. I am going to try harder to get in on a more regular bases rather than my usual six months between cuts and color.
I am also a huge fan of their big dog, who is a rescue. Overall, great people and a great place.

I am pretty sure that this is the best salon I’ve ever gone to. I had never heard of them until I met the owners at a dog park (our dogs are buddies).
I desperately needed some work done on my hair, and booked an appointment with Shelby. She is fabulous! I was really happy with how I looked once she finished, and have been every time I’ve gone there.
The owners Alann and Roshan are also always there and come to chat and get to know their clients. Clients also get a small plate of cookies and a choice from a vast array of beverages, which shows that they are committed to making the client feel special.
Not only are the staff friendly and skilled, but they have been finalists in and won some awards at the Contessa Awards. Not many stylists have such prestigious credentials under their belts.
My husband regularly goes to KoKo, and word of mouth among people we know has sent more and more clients their way.
They also carry my new favourite brand of hair products, Alcove, which is affordable and great for my hair.
They allow online booking, which for those who hate using phones (eg. me), is really handy. I really cannot say enough positive things about this salon, except experience it for yourself.
