Best time to go is on a Saturday, they have giant size beer for $ 7 and a burger for the same price and the food is good but that’s about it. The bar is awesome as far as décor, you get a good choice of beer on tap, lots of TV’s with sports games on and darts in the back and lots of free parking all around the hotel. Good place to go drink!

Went for a date night with my wife. Had a pint of Fat Tire beer, the pint glass wasn’t all that clean and the second wasn’t either. The server was cold and didn’t seem to care that we were even there. She was more concerned with the far too old immature party animals behind us. The food was sub standard at best. The nachos were small and avoid the so called shredded Cajun chicken to add to the nachos. I’m almost certain the chicken sat in the kitchen for almost a week. It was almost grey in colour and tasted like a plastic bag. The chicken wings tasted good but the wings were small and the portion of a so called pound was only 8 wings. The waitress rolled her eyes when we asked for a few more minutes with the menu. When it was time for a refill we basically had to set up a road flare to catch the attention of our poor server… Again this was due to the server being far more interested in the table behind us. From a former semi regular customer I can guarantee that this terrible visit will be my last. Hard to believe that I had to pay for such poor service!

Mediocre bar in a mediocre with mediocre service and poor to mediocre food full delivered by indistinct waitresses who laugh too much. Usually filled with middle-aged-and-showing-it oil patch asshats. I only come here because it means I don’t have to travel far on my trips up to Edmonton. Recommend the steak pot pie because it’s the hardest thing on the menu to screw up.

We were staying in the hotel and wanted to grab a quick bite to eat. Once seated we waited for 15 minutes before any of the 6 waitresses standing behind the bar came over to ask us what we’d like to drink. There was probably 20 people in the entire bar. Our waitress kept us waiting for her all night. My boyfriends cooked veggies that came with the meal were covered in oil and still raw. The Yorkshire pudding was tough to chew. I had a buffalo chicken wrap and the Buffalo sauce was all you tasted. We didn’t even come close to finishing our meals and ate again somewhere else in an hour. We will not be going back.

Wanted to try the«hot dog of the day». Called ahead and thought she said chili dog(which I love). Get there and find out its a Philly dog. Ok, my mistake. So hubby orders the Philly dog with the cream of tomato soup and sweet potato fries. I order the buffalo chicken caesar wrap with kettle chips and we split the calamari as an app. Calamari was ok — standard battered and fried with tzatziki sauce. Buffalo chicken wrap was also just ok. The hot sauce overpowered any other flavour. Hotdog was a typical over salted dog with tasteless peppers and onions and cheese. Not very good. Cream of tomato soup wasn’t a cream soup at all — more like country vegetable stock but still not bad. Kettle chips and sweet potato fries weren’t seasoned at all and tasted like burnt oil. Service was very attentive and personal. Won’t be coming back but only because of the food NOTTHESERVICE. I even warned another couple not to order anything fried as we were leaving. To the Lions Head Pub — change the fry oil please.

Ugh where to start! We bought a groupon that was $ 16 for $ 30 worth of food. It was not worth $ 6 let alone $ 16. The service was absolutely horrible and had to ask the server three times to get our drinks. Then the food was so slow, over 30 minutes for nachos and a club sandwich. We also had the luxury of a kitchen view and continuously watched the food sit there for several minutes while the staff joked around at the bar. Anyways, when we finally got the food it wasn’t too bad although the nachos were a little burnt. All I can say is that it’s a good thing we didn’t pay full price!!!

The Lion’s head pub is a solid 3 stars of Hotel bar. It’s not really fair to rate it against a bar that stands alone. Yet, I’m going to. We went there after the gym and the waitress unenthusiastically told us «it’s happy hour. everything is cheaper…». We waited for more info, but eventually had to ask. When we asked what that meant she told us beers were 4.25 and wings were half price(no smile… just very unenthusiastic, like, «come on. I already told these guys things were cheaper. Hmmmn, I don’t want to be mean… but I always wondered where truck stop waitresses before they turned 55 work. In fairness they aren’t all bad… we had 3 waitresses come by, 1 was good at her job.) We ordered 2 lbs of wings and 2 beers. The wings came out super hot(temperature)and the beer super cold. The wings also came with dip and veggies no charge. The 1 lb of wings at half price were $ 7(roughly 70 cents a wing) So why only a 3 star review? 1. Poor atmosphere, it’s far too bright, and with me and Adam there we lowered the average patron age to 65. 2. The bill was just wrong. We were offered $ 4.25 beers, the bill came out at $ 4.75 and $ 5 per beer… literally random prices. The waitress said, do you want 50 cents? It wasn’t quite sarcastic, but really? Why the random prices? Is this the waitress version of reverse tipping? 3.It’s hard to mess up a happy hour special, but there’s no listing of it anywhere and you have to ask. Why hide your specials? So, the Lion’s head. It’s not bad, if you’re staying in the hotel, but not worth going to otherwise. Pros Not bad price for drinks during happy hour Lots of parking outside Cons No atmosphere, you might as well be at a Denny’s

I was in town for the Esks/Lions game. Yes, I sat in the monsoon. I was staying in the Radisson, so it just made sense to hop in here. Anyway, apparently this place hasn’t got much better in the last couple years. I sat down at the bar before I was meeting my friend to go to the game, bartender seemed nice enough, asked me if I had tickets to the game already, as they had a pair to give away. Ordered bruschetta(which they spell wrong in the menu) which was nothing special, but alright to snack on. As that arrived, the bartender left and a new one started. About all she asked me was if I wanted another beer and if I already had tickets to the game. And that her ex gave her a ton of Riders clothing. Then I didn’t see her again until I told her I wanted my bill. After the game, my friend suggested we may as well just stop in there for post game drinks and snacks. We sat at a booth, were served quickly enough, but the waitress just didn’t seem very interested in coming to check on us while we were there. So drinks ended up becoming one drink and I ordered the chicken burger, which was fairly tasteless, but the pub fries were pretty good. After realizing we probably weren’t going to get anything more to drink, we decided to leave, having to wave at her from across the bar to get her to bring the bill. If I go back it’s only because I’ll be staying in the Radisson again, and won’t have to worry about catching a cab anywhere.

As others have said, it’s fine if you’re in the area. When busy, they are understaffed(relative to customers, that is) and you need to be aggressive to get your order in. TVs are located everywhere, so if you’re interested in the current sports game, you’re set. One area of the pub might be hotter than another, so if you’re uncomfortable, move. I had the poutine(*sigh*) and the top ¼ of the fries were good. I didn’t finish the plate not b/c I wasn’t hungry but b/c the gravy wasn’t good and the point of poutine is the cheese curd.

I have to agree with my fellow reviewers on this one. The Lion’s Head Pub is an OK place to go for a beer or two, but that’s about it. They have a couple decent appetizers, but nothing to brag about. I like the atmosphere here because the décor is very fun and cozy. The English-style pub is an experience. I’ve never been to England, so I don’t know how it compares to real English pubs, but I think it’s OK. The staff is not the best but they get the job done. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone as a place that they have to visit, but it’s decent if you happen to be driving by.

Lion’s Head Pub is an English inspired place and is good for a beer, maybe some appies. It’s an OK place to watch hockey games, they have a projector that is pretty old school. It’s low quality and reminded me of something my teachers used in high school. I had the nachos and they were good. I don’t really trust anything other than nachos or wings at places I haven’t heard too much about. It’s not a bad place to play pool and have a drink, but if you want to watch a game or have a decent meal. I would look elsewhere.

This English-style pub is a great place to relax with a cold beer, shoot some pool or meet a group of friends for a birthday party or reunion. I like the laid-back environment and way the bar is divided up. There’s some booth seating for greater comfort, relaxed meals and more privacy. There’s a main floor full of tables facing a stage area where live performers set up on weekends. I’ve been there when the entertainment was a little lackluster, but the crowd wasn’t really paying attention; no one seemed to mind. Then there’s a pool, darts and mingling area, great for groups of more than six. The menu here is simple, with lots of yummy pub grub. We had the fries and an artichoke cheesy garlic dip with nachos. It was not very good cold, so we asked to have it heated up, which our waitress did happily. All in all, I’ve had fun there, and it’s a great place to drab a drink if you’re dining in the area, like the Greek Taverna across the street or in the Radisson’s lounge.
