Before graduating from the U of A, I made a vow that I would try to sample all of the different food vendors in the HUB mall. I must confess, it took quite a while for me to get to the Jacket Potato Man. While I love a good baked potato, it doesn’t exactly satisfy for a whole meal. However, they do also sell side salads which is a nice feature. The menu is a bit chaotic but has a decent selection. There aren’t very many vegetarian choices which is always disappointing but not abnormal. The broccoli-cheese potato wasn’t anything particularly special. It really needed more of a sauce to go with it as it was a little dry. The staff also forgot to ask me if I wanted sour cream added before I walked away obviously so that didn’t really help either. Pro-tip: the large potato is basically the same size as a regular one so don’t bother paying for the up-size. Overall I wasn’t too enamoured. There’s nothing all that special about the Jacket Potato Man, especially when compared to some of the other places to eat in HUB.
