Tony the Tailor

I live on 104 street so I wish I could return to this place, but I never will after the way we were treated today.
I had items of clothing altered last year and they did an ok job.
Today we phoned them to see if we could get my partner measured for a suit so that we could send the measurements home to Ireland for a wedding we are attending next month.
They told us to come in right away and they could do that for us.
We got there around 30 minutes later and told the old couple there that he was there to be measured. He got the filthiest look from the old woman, she looked disgusted! She just stared at him. We thought perhaps she didn’t understand so repeated «I’m here to be measured up for a suit». And she said «yes I know» and continued to look at him as if he was a piece of sh*t.
He said to her «If you don’t want to measure me you don’t have to, I can go somewhere else» she said «yes go somewhere else»???
Isn’t there a recession?! Shouldn’t you be welcoming customers instead of pushing them away!!?
It’s a pitty cause I need a dress altered and I’m now going to have to take public transport to a less convenient location.
Before today I had always been served by a young guy who was lovely! I suggest you get rid of that old …

I’ve been coming to Tony the Tailor for a few years now, and I’m always delighted with their service. They do a great job on the dry cleaning & laundering (I’ve had shirts, jackets, pants, and wool sweaters cleaned there). I’ve also had a few alterations and repairs done, some of them fairly extensive; they do a fantastic job at a reasonable price. Finally, they’re always friendly and chatty when I go in. I used to go to a place round the corner, but am very glad I switched to Tony the Tailor — definitely recommend them!

This place is great! I take our dry cleaning here and any tailoring and the prices are very fair and the service is quick! For some alterations, I get same day service.

Very good dry cleaning service, your clothes come back clean and nicely pressed and the price is not too high.
As well, the tailoring service is very good. My friend has had many alterations done to his pants and suit jackets.
The lady that owns this place is very friendly and always happy to see you and I appreciate the fact that they really get to know you and remember you and what you have brought to them in the past.

Rather than using water to wash your cloths, traditional dry cleaning uses an assortment of chemicals, many of which are bad for the environment, your clothes, and you!
There are other methods, however, that use less harsh chemicals. Tony the Tailor is the only one downtown (that I know of) who offers this method. It costs a couple dollars more for a suit but is the same price for a shirt. I think it’s worth it. I appreciate that Tony the Tailor offers this service. They also offer alterations (hence the name), however I’ve never had the opportunity to try this service here.
The staff here are very friendly. They take the time to get to know you, refer to you by your name, and remember you. When was the last time you dropped a suit off and was asked honestly how your weekend was?
Turn around time for dry cleaning is faster than many places (less than a week) and prices for traditional dry cleaning are competitive. Most importantly my cloths were perfectly clean.
Every time I walk out of this place I feel like a million bucks. And I’m not even wearing my suit yet.
