I have been here many times, on many dates with friends and family! I think that it’s absolutely hilarious that the menu is on a huge blackboard too! The dish I can’t seem to ever stop ordering is the spanakopita with salad. Its incredible. It is always served warm and the salad is always fresh. The service is always excellent as well. I don’t even know where to start with the desserts here. They’re all as delicious as they look. Most of them aren’t overwhelmingly sweet, and large enough to share… though you might regret that later! You won’t be disappointed.

I LOVE their vegetarian lasagna and it is always a treat(and a challenge) to pick a dessert afterwards. Great atmosphere for a first date, small family gathering or lunch with the girls. Vi’s you rock ! :D

Came in thinking I was going to get a good sandwich. Boy was I wrong. Might be the most disgusting sandwich i have ever eaten. For the fair price of $ 10? for a bun that wasn’t even baked fresh and a slab of ham

I’ve been hard pressed to find a great flapper pie in Edmonton since grandma passed away. Vi’s for Pies, while not exactly the same as grandma’s, is my next choice. Graham cracker crust, creamy filling, and meringue as tall and sturdy as a building, you won’t be disappointed with this choice. They have other stuff too, of course. The flapper pie though, that’s my gem from Vi’s.

For a place that has the word pies in their name and charged me $ 14 for two slices of pie, one would think they would be top notch at making pies. I ordered flapper pie which my father used to make when I was a kid. So I know what good flapper tastes like. This was made with what seems like a gelatin base as opposed to a good dairy base. Yuck. But the worst part… the graham crust. It was like sawdust. Barely any fresh flavor, tasted like old stale, fine graham crumbs mixed with water and sugar and pressed and dried out… did not even taste baked. Also got a chocolate pie… was okay. At least the crust didn’t taste old. I won’t be going back, not even if I am desperately in the mood for pie.

I really enjoy this little spot! As soon as you walk in you’re greeted by a lovely display of all their bakery goods. Like the most decadent cakes and pies you’ve ever laid your eyes on. The dining room has a warm cozy fire place in the winter and in the summer the patio is just gorgeous. The food is always spot on. The whole experience overall is something I always look foreword to and would recommend to anyone who hasn’t been here :)

The cheesecake and pie buzzes the pallet with excitement. Tastebuds jump with joy after the first mouth full. In all seriousness, you should at least try this place. The cheesecake and pie could compete with anyone in the YEG business community.

Such a delightful spot! Definitely recommend! The service is great! The food is great! The desserts are to die for! A great place if you just want dessert and a latte, or if your feeling dinner they have a great selection– that comes to you not in a traditional menu but on a giant standing easel. We recently had the lime curry soup which was amazing! For deserts they are featured and you get a huge piece of a wide selection of tasty goodies– from carrot cakes, cheese cakes, mousses, and everything in between. You are sure to not be disappointed. Don’t forget to take a piece or a whole cake home with you for later they have that option too! Seating is cozy, and although sometimes busy and noisy you can catch the nights where is quiet and almost romantic. Parking is right on the street and there is residential areas nearby with more parking.

I found a hair in my muffin… nothing else needs to be said… we ordered a muffin and a latte and they waved the barge for the muffin. But seriously. .?

Talk about a blast from the past. I don’t think I’ve been here since the mid 2000s. Yet they are still there and I might add going very strong. Service was excellent. They even had my pies boxed up and ready to take home. Very friendly and very on point. Even let us know that certain dishes were running out so if you wanted them ordered better do it quick. Which leads me to the star of the night… The bbq pork ribs with mac & cheese and coleslaw was my choice for the evening. Delicious! I would guess that the bbq sauce was store bought because it tasted like bulleye. I could be wrong, but everything else was great. Loved the Mac and cheese and ribs were cooked perfect. On point and at 17 $ for half a rack of ribs good value! Took a piece of pumpkin cream pie that was simply delicious. Overall enjoyed much here.

Ah Vi’s for pies. I always love you. Despite the fact that sometimes we wait and wait… the food, the coffee, the desserts and the atmosphere make it worth the wait. The chicken pot pie makes your mouth water when you see it. Recently I had beef brisket on a Carmelized onion bagel. Just so satisfying! The soup was a mushroom chorizo and was delicious. You cannot go wrong with the food but it’s crowded and usually busy whenever I’ve gone so don’t be in a rush. Stay, have one of the delicious desserts…

This is one of my favourite places in town. Known for its truly superior desserts(cakes, cheese cakes, pies, tarts etc.) not nearly as busy as duchess but in my opinion just as good. You can even get entire cakes if you order in advance! The entrées there are also amazing and ALMOST a hidden secret the best part about them is that they aren’t gigantic portions which leaves either A. room for a fantastic dessert or B. The knowledge you did not over eat. They are well made, appropriately priced and delicious.

I came to Vi’s for Pies twice last week! Pie, Pie, Oh My! Well, I mean… I intended to try the pie BUT the cheesecakes stared me straight down through their beautiful lit up glass display each time we came in. Okay, okay… Next time, I promise, I’ll try Pie at Vi’s! The service was exceptional on both of my recent visits. The first visit was a group of four following a function downtown. We sat, ate cheesecake, drank coffee, and visited for two hours. Not once did we ever feel pressured to leave — 5 stars right there! On my second visit, again we came for a dessert after supper elsewhere and admittedly it was a Friday night around 9pm and their display case was sadly lacking as nearly everything had been gobbled up by earlier patrons. Services was still top notch! Okay… the low down: Lemon Raspberry Cheesecake — OHMYGOODNESS… You shouldn’t even be allowed to come here if you don’t give this cheesecake a try. Tart and Sweet — heavenly!(I mean, seriously… I love TART!) Orange Pineapple Cheesecake — My least favourite of everything I tried(think subtle flavours) but still a solid cheesecake Oreo Cheesecake — Brought home for a treat for my hubby, and we didn’t try it for 2 days and it was still AWESOME! Strawberry Shortcake — Served in between a sliced raspberry scone? Um, yes please! I’m an American and I LOVE love LOVE my biscuit dough and/or scones. This was perfection. Chocolate Caramel Cheesecake — RICH, rich, RICH. Did I mention it’s a really deep and rich dark chocolate cheesecake? Paired perfectly with a cup of joe and great for sharing! Key Lime Pie — Okay, I stole a bite of my friend’s and it was divine! TART perfection. All the of the desserts(minus the one to go) were served with fresh whipped cream alongside — and the good pure stuff, not the sweetened stuff. Ahhh… Vi’s for Pies! I think I’ve found my newest and most favourite dessert spot! And I cannot wait to come back on a warm day to try out their patio out back — it looks like a little secret garden surrounded by trellis wall climbing foliage. Their dinner menu had me wanting to come back for the full meal deal, too! I think it’s cute that they bring around LARGE chalkboards to each table with the ever changing daily menu rather than a paper menu. Vi’s for Pies, I cannot believe I waited this long to eat inside your restaurant. I’ve tried your goodies over the year at different gatherings and birthday parties and I’m sorry I didn’t come sooner. I promise, to be a regular from here on out :-) See you soon!

Ohhhh my, what a treat! This was my first visit but it definitely will not be my last, because there were so many temptations on the menu that I’ve got to try lots! We came just for dessert, but the dinner menu looked great and food passing by to other tables was really tempting. I had a fabulous slice of caramel chocolate cheesecake, with a thick layer of chocolate ganache on top, rich enough to satisfy every taste bud I own. Others in my party tried the raspberry lemon cheesecake(deliciously tart) and the mandarin orange cheesecake. There were also pies and squares in the display case, located just as you walk in, each one winking and promising a delectable experience. Service was remarkable — we sat and talked for a couple hours without ever feeling they’d like us to move along — waters and coffee cups were automatically and frequently refilled, always with a welcoming smile. I really look forward to returning and trying their savoury offerings, hopefully out on their attractive patios — highly recommend you do the same!

Tried this place numerous times for both dinner and dessert or just dessert itself. It’s a rather small bistro with friendly service. Always seems to be filled with people whenever I go but can always find a seat. Perfect for few friends looking for good dinner and dessert. Although they are known for their dessert, they have quite a few really good entrees on their menu, what sticks out in my mind is their Shepards Pie and Beef Brisket. As for dessert, since I’m a fan of fruit pies, their blueberry and sweet cherry pies are a perfect choice. They also have a delicious peanut butter pie! It’s become a go to place when I’m craving dessert. Definitely check this place out!

My girlfriend and I went here last night for Pi day. We had a great time. The food was awesome. We had Shepard pie and chicken pot pie for dinner and a piece of delicious apple pie with a ginger snap cookie. It’s a great place for a date. Specially since its open until 11! I would recommend to friends and family!

If I had to choose my last meal on Earth, I would choose from the menu at Vi’s. The brisket here is superb, and I love the Mac n cheese and jalepeno scone that accompanies it! Other menu highlights: quiche, chicken pot pie, lasagna, and seasonal turkey dinner. The dessert, the«pie», is just the cherry on top. They have an insane selection of pies, cakes, and cheesecakes. I just enjoy being able to always try something different. Banana cream pie, key lime pie, raspberry coconut cake, chocolate caramel cake… This is a small fraction of the choices. And last but not least, I love the atmosphere here. In the summer, they have a gorgeous patio with a fountain and tons of flowers, even a cherry blossom tree. It’s so peaceful. In the winter there’s a cozy fireplace inside if you can snag a seat next to it! If I end up on death row, please let Vi’s be my last supper.

What can I say about Vi’s for. Pies… it’s become, a sample for me as it’s right nearby my house. Today I came down for lunch and noticed they have some new stuff on the menu. It’s always changing hence the chalkboard menus! Little know fact is they actually do a mean BBQ brisket. There is always a festive feel no matter what time of year. Currently they have Pumpkin Pie and Pumpkin cheesecake. I couldn’t decide on which so I went with both! It was like thanksgiving in your mouth. The desserts here are just awesome along with all the home made food. I think it can best be described as going to your grandmothers for lunch. Always great comfort food with a sweet finish.

From ladies who lunch to the biz crowd, there is no place better for a home made lunch. Set in the quaint and quite Glenora neighbourhood it is always a fun place to go and makes you feel like you are somewhere special. It may be tough to get into at peak times, but always worth the wait! From quiche to chicken pot pie, soups and sandwiches everything on the lunch menu is always satisfying, made with top quality ingredients and super yummy! And wait, I haven’t even got to what they are famous for: The pies! Oh my oh my, the pies, cakes, squares and bars are incredible. They wave hi to you when you walk in, sitting there in the glass case at the front door as a reminder not to eat too much, because they are worth it! So grab you honey bunny, your best gal pal or Mum and settle in for a true meal. And if Mother Nature has a warm day in store then the secret garden patio is one of the best in the city!
